Ask The Council

What will you ask Spirit?

When A Human Dies, Can Its Spirit Still Be Experiencing Other Human Lives?

This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Sophie, in response to our post, If We Focus On The Reality We Desire, Can We Not Be Touched By Chaos? in which we discuss how every spirit is capable of creating multiple separate personalities that live in separate lifetimes, some of which can be going on simultaneously.

Sophie: Does this mean when someone dies, and I mean by that their human experience on Earth ends, they could still be experiencing other human lives at the same time.

Council: Definitely. It happens all the time. You have hundreds of lives. When you leave your current reality, or any reality, that’s a small part of you that now goes to the whole part of you, whether you consider that to be a heaven or a place of rest. You go back to the whole part of you, but there are all these other lives – past lives, ancient lives, future lives – that are going on. So you are never truly dead. You are experiencing on other levels, on other lifetimes, with other people.

And so that’s why we say you pass away. You pass from one lifetime to another lifetime. You go and you rest, or you create another lifetime. You go and you meet other spirits, and you share what you’ve gone through in this particular lifetime that you’ve left. But you go on, and you go on, and you go on. There’s no ending.

Bob: It sounds like what Sophie is asking is when someone dies, can their spirit have another human life that still goes on living at that time.

Council: It does have another human life. It has many other human lives, and they go on. The small part of you that lived just in this reality, which is a very small part of you (spirit), is now free to do whatever else it wants to do.

Bob: I think I understand.

Council: This one particular life that you’ve left is finished. You are not there for it to go on. It will go on in time over and over again, but it doesn’t expand to another part. When you choose that your life is finished and you’re ready to leave, you’re finished with that lifetime, but the energy of that lifetime is still going on. It doesn’t disappear.

Bob: And so a spirit can be living multiple human lives at the same time, is what you’re saying.

Council: Yes.

Bob: And if one of those human lives decides to end, the other human lives that are going on at the same time can continue?

Council: Exactly. You see how powerful you are?

Bob: I think so.

Sophie: Do souls go back to just completely being in spirit? And if they do, when do they do this?

Council: When they leave this particular lifetime you’re speaking about, they leave the body and now they are out there. They are energy. Do they want to go to maybe what they consider a heaven and sit around and rest? Maybe they want to be with other spirits and talk about their past lifetimes. Maybe they’re ready to talk to their guides and create a new lifetime because they want to come back and do something else. It’s all up to that soul. Even when you are no longer in this lifetime, you are still in control. There is only you creating what you want to create.

Bob: I think what Sophie may be asking is, if a spirit is experiencing multiple human lifetimes, can all of the souls in that lifetime, or maybe even any other lifetimes, go completely back to spirit so there are no souls in human incarnation?

Council: No. Part of you in the soul form keeps going on. You do not stop. There’s no ending. And so you can stay in all your other lifetimes. You can hang out in spirit and be there for a while. You go on and on. There is no ending to who you really are.

Bob: I think what Sophie’s asking is, can a spirit choose to come back into spirit completely?

Council: That part of it.

Bob: Can you explain that?

Council: You are always part of the whole. You are always part of that. Do you want to go back to the whole? Yes, you can. And then you can leave again. You have that ability. If you want to just become part of the whole and stay there for as long as you want, yes, you can do that. You have the ability to create whatever you come up with, whatever you want to experience.

Remember there are hundreds, maybe thousands of little tiny pieces of you that are experiencing other lifetimes, but this one part that just left one lifetime, does it want to go back to the whole and maybe hang out? Yes. Does it want to create something brand new after a while? Yes. You are always there in control of what you want to experience.

And even if you wanted to stay in the whole, that is possible, but you are not finished. There are all the other parts of you that are attached to the whole that are going on with other lifetimes, and creating new lifetimes, and past lifetimes. You are never finished.

Bob: So it sounds like you’re saying that souls do not ordinarily go back to just completely being in spirit.

Council: That part of the soul can go back and be part of the whole and stay there.

Bob: But Sophie seems to be asking about all souls.

Council: All souls. Any soul at any time can go back if that is what it chooses. But the memory and who you are in all these other lifetimes are still part of you. There’s no ending to you. You just now become part of the bigger you, the whole you that is part of every other soul. You have just become part of that.

Bob: Alright, let me try to put this another way. So there’s spirit, and there are multiple souls associated with a particular spirit – maybe ten, or hundreds, or thousands of souls.

Council: You are now concentrating on one soul that just left a life?

Bob: No. We’re concentrating on all the souls of what Sophie is calling a spirit. She wants to know if all the souls associated with a particular spirit can go completely back to spirit and not be in human form for a particular time.

Council: Of course it can, but it doesn’t seem likely because you keep trying to be more and more of love, to be more and more a part of God, which you are. You want to become like a Buddha. You want to become the wisest that you can ever be, that you have all the answers. So yes, you could, but you won’t because you want to keep learning, you want to keep growing, you want to be experiencing.

Bob: I think that answers Sophie’s question. And the part of the question: And if they do, when do they do this? They do it whenever they want, if they choose.

Council: Exactly.

Bob: Thank you.

Council: All spirits love to create life and love to create different realities. They come in with ideas, and they want to have fun, and they want to experience things, and they want to help people, and they want to help themselves. They are excited to keep coming back.

And so that is why this is going on. You are learning, you are growing, you are becoming more light, more love – hopefully more love – but once you get on the other side you are all love. And so it’s just how you want to experience it.

Sophie: I read in another book that some souls go to a kind of hospital when they pass to help their souls recover if they’ve been through particularly traumatic Earth experiences.

Council: If they believe that when they pass over, yes, they will create it. You have to remember there are also souls that are very afraid of dying because they feel they weren’t a very good person. When they die, that’s exactly what they’re going to see. They’re going to see a Hell, someplace that is full of torture that they have to go there because they were bad. They will experience that until they realize who they really are, and then it fades away. So it’s very important, and Buddhists will tell you this, to think very positive thoughts when you’re ready to exit your reality.

Bob: I think Sophie may be differentiating between the kind of Hell that you just described and going to a hospital where they can…

Council: Well some will create a Hell because that’s the kind of person they were, and they need to go there. And others will say, “Oh my God. This life was so hard. I need to go and be in the hospital where others can take care of me.” You will create what you want.

And so we wish you all peace, and love, and happiness, and health, and adventure, and joy, and a wonderful, wonderful way of creating with your intention, with your feelings, and with your smile. Smile as you think of how you want things. It will help you immensely. So have fun with it.

  1. Thank you so much for this very interesting question and answer session. Listening to it made me wonder this…

If each soul can be experiencing many hundreds of other lives all at the same time, does that mean there’s actually only a limited number of souls in our existence? For example, if there’s 7 billion people on the planet and we’re all experiencing multiple lives (say 1000 lives at a time for sake of an easy calculation), that could mean there could be only about 7 million souls.

I’m sure it’s actually far more complicated than this! For example we may be experiencing lives on other planets, lives as non humans (eg bugs, animals, rocks), and if courses lives in other times.

I would love to hear more of your explanation about this! This is such a fascinating topic to ponder 🙏 Thank you
