This post is inspired by an interesting question from a reader named Lynn, who says that several times a day she had compulsive thoughts about her unborn child dying during her last pregnancy. And as happy as she is that her daughter was born healthy, she wonders why this negative thinking didn’t have an adverse effect on her pregnancy, if thoughts have the power to physically manifest and create.
The Council says they see Lynn had a great concern for her health in other lifetimes, particularly one in London that was filled with disease and poverty, and she brought this fear for her child into this lifetime to turn it around.
Lynn’s higher self wanted to create the experience of having fearful thoughts during her pregnancy so she could live it differently than she did in her lifetime in London. And The Council says Lynn created these compulsive thoughts so she could learn how to experience them and not manifest them.
Lynn’s spirit pre-planned for her to experience these compulsive thoughts, but they didn’t happen in her physical reality because her higher self, which is always trying to steer you in the right direction, provided a vibration of love, understanding, and healing that prevented the compulsive thoughts from manifesting.
Lynn pre-birth planned to have these compulsive thoughts and then wonder why they didn’t manifest. The Council says it was to release old memories from the past, which is what she’s able to do now. They say this situation was created in the vibration of mass healing from another lifetime, which is why it was created.
The Council says perhaps the next time Lynn has fearful or compulsive thoughts, she’ll acknowledge them and release the fear by understanding she created it, and she can let go of it knowing it doesn’t need to happen, like her thoughts about her daughter’s pregnancy.
Everyone in this reality has picked challenges and lessons they want to go through. What The Council likes about Lynn’s comment is that it can help people realize when they have fearful thoughts or situations, it will help them face their fear and ask how they can bring love into it, and know they don’t have to go in the direction of the fear. Love yourself and the vibration that’s teaching you these lessons, and then think of the direction you’d like to go.
Lynn didn’t manifest her worst fears because it was a lesson from another lifetime and because it was pre-planned to bring her forward to this point so she can see that fear is just a vibration and doesn’t have to manifest. Your higher self, which isn’t separate from who you are, will always take you into the lesson you wish to have, and take you through the lesson with love.
No matter how often you feel fear, spirit is always trying to help you through it. And in Lynn’s case she experienced her spirit safely taking her through her fears. You don’t need to be afraid of fearful thoughts. You can have them, acknowledge them, and say: No, I’m a spirit in a physical body and I’m here to bring love into this situation, and let the fear go.

This post is inspired by Marie’s questions about an ex-boyfriend who is trying to contact her even though she doesn’t want him to, and she asks The Council’s advice.
The Council says what Marie is saying she wants and what she is creating in her life are two different things, and they ask her to look at where she is focusing her attention. They say by focusing her attention on how she doesn’t want this man in her life, this focus is actually attracting him into it.
The Council suggests Marie focus on what she wants in her life rather than what she doesn’t want. Focus on the people she loves and be with them. Do things that make her happy rather than focusing on where this man is, what he is doing, and why he’s doing it.
The Council says the more Marie writes to us asking about this person, the more she brings this person and his energy into her life.

Recently we published a post titled, Whether to Leave an Abusive Relationship, answering Jolanda’s questions about her relationship with her husband. After reading that post Jolanda had some follow-up questions and the current post answers those questions.
Jolanda begins by saying she was inspired to ask her questions by listening to the teachings of Abraham and that prior to hearing these teachings she felt leaving her husband was her only option. But she’s heard Abraham repeatedly say something like the following:
“Don’t get out of a relationship until you can be strong and happy within yourself, no matter what is going on around you. If someone makes you go out of the Vortex, just get back in. Don’t let someone upset your ability to be happy and be in the Vortex.”
Jolanda says she resonates to this and realized her problem was really her difficulty being happy when her husband was unhappy. She adds:
“Abraham cautions that if we don’t get ourselves right before leaving a relationship, we’ll just get into the same type of relationship again and again, until we learn our lesson.”
Jolanda asks The Council’s opinion on this, considering their answers in the earlier post seemed to suggest it was her intention she find the strength to protect herself and her children by leaving her husband. She says:
“I know I haven’t learned how to be happy while others are unhappy, which is why I feel that my husband is the absolute best partner I could possibly have at this time, because he’s in my face every day, being unhappy with me, and pushing my buttons. What better way to learn to get happy no matter what is going on around me?”
The Council has a lot to say to Jolanda about her situation, but it boils down to the following quote:
“When you realize something is not bringing you joy (because that is what you are wishing to experience) then you have the ability to start making another choice, to start making a plan on how you would do this if you’re not ready to do this right now. But there is nowhere/anywhere where Abraham or any other spirit would say stay there if you are miserable. It’s like, stay there if you have to till you get the strength to make another choice.”
When the session was finished we did a Google search on “Abraham Hicks abusive relationship” to get Abraham’s views on this subject instead of Jolanda’s view of what Abraham was saying. What we came up with was a 7-minute YouTube video titled, “Is it time to leave?”, which we reproduce below. The woman speaking with Abraham is in a situation similar to Jolanda.
And while Abraham does emphasize the importance of working on yourself to improve your vibration before leaving a relationship so you don’t attract a similar relationship into your life, they add that doesn’t mean it’s wrong to take action. They say:
“The story we like best is: You’re sitting on a park bench and you’re feeling fear, and you don’t really know if there’s a monster in the bushes or if you just think there’s a monster in the bushes. And we say, in any event, move away from the monster.”
The Council appears to understand that Jolanda chose to be in this abusive relationship with her husband for the specific purpose of developing the strength in this lifetime to leave him and protect herself and her children. The Council adds more than once it’s Jolanda’s choice whether she actually leaves her husband on not, and they are merely reminding her of her pre-birth intention.

This post is inspired by a question from a reader named Diana who says that The Council always reminds us we are spirit and we are love and asks where evil comes from, why does it exist, and why would someone choose to experience being evil in a physical body?
The Council’s initial response was that evil is created from our thoughts and beliefs. When I (Bob) said we might need a little more than that, they elaborated.
The Council says we are here to experience any reality we wish to learn from and some of us choose to experience negativity and evil until we realize we created it and we have the ability to change it. Look at these situations as opportunities to learn and grow.
The Council says everything we experience in this physical reality that we consider evil is only here because we wanted the experience of changing it into something more loving. You want to remember who you really are as a spiritual being in a physical body and you have the ability to change evil and bring love into these situations.
When Diana comments there are some people who don’t appear to have a soul or a drop of love in them, The Council replies that everyone has a soul and everyone is love, but what keeps them from experiencing this is they have forgotten who they truly are. The challenge is to remember this.
When Diana asks how someone who manifests evil can be spirit and love The Council reminds us that spirit and human are one being who loves itself so much it allows us to experience whatever we choose while in the human body, and find our way back to who we are as spirit.

This post is inspired by an anonymous support worker who asks The Council why schizophrenia appears to be growing in Western societies. The Council responds that by focusing on schizophrenia it will seem like there is more of it in your life. It appears to be growing because it is the focus.
When a soul can no longer handle their life, they can create another world for themselves where it seems like they are two different people and they aren’t so focused on this reality. Interestingly The Council adds that most of the time a soul chooses schizophrenia, it’s for the people they interact with. There are many lessons these people are helping other souls learn by choosing schizophrenia, as well as experiencing it for themselves. This is an interesting concept that can be difficult to understand – the idea these people experience their a reality for the purpose of helping the people around them.
When I (Bob) asked The Council if schizophrenia is growing in our Western society, they respond that it isn’t growing for everyone. And as we understand that we create our own reality, there are many people who never hear of schizophrenia; it’s not an idea in their head. And yet for the people who want to learn something from schizophrenia, the more they focus on this, the more it will appear to grow.
The Council reminds us it’s important that what you focus on, you will continue to bring into your life. And when the focus on schizophrenia isn’t as important, it will begin to disappear. But being a caregiver, schizophrenia may be all around this person at this time in their life. The Council advises them to look at this and ask themselves why they created this.
Can they understand there’s a soul in these schizophrenic bodies and they are being this way for them to grow from this? Ask what they are learning from this. Can they be around these people and offer them love? The Council encourages us to believe these people will feel the love even if it doesn’t seem possible. Can you feel these people with schizophrenia are there for you in spirit to grow from this experience?

This post is inspired by a question from Ali, who asks the difference between intuition and worry. When she feels the loving source of well-being, she knows everything is okay spiritually, but she still worries about physical events, mainly with her child. She wants to know how to tell when to accept these feelings as guidance and when to ignore them as worries.
The Council says guidance always comes with a calmness while worry comes from fear. You may feel a tightening or nervousness with fear, but with guidance and intuition you generally experience how to move through a difficult situation. They give an example of feeling intuition about a car accident, but you feel calm about it and take extra care while driving to prevent the accident.
Ali asks if her chronic worrying affects her point of attraction even if she doesn’t express it out loud. Ali has a lot of fear about vaccines and waited until recently to have her daughter vaccinated. The Council says Ali’s fear created the difficulty using her leg that her daughter temporarily experienced as a result of the vaccination.
When I asked if the situation is okay now The Council answered that it depends on how Ali focuses her attention. They remind us we create future experiences with our thoughts and if Ali continues to worry, she’ll create situations that keep her worrying. They recommend she acknowledge her worries, try to look at the situation differently, and ask herself how she can turn this worry around.
The Council says if you change the way you think about something, when it’s time to experience what you’ve been thinking about you can have a better reality than if you stayed thinking more negatively. Have a listen to the 6-minute part of the session with The Council to hear their guidance.
This post is inspired by a question from Diana who says she doesn’t like the reality she’s experiencing and doesn’t know how to change it. All her life she’s believed true love is the answer to every question and most of her life has been a quest to find this love. But fate keeps bringing the wrong people into her life.
She says it’s been so many years of loss and pain she can’t imagine a different life, can’t go on even for the sake of her child, and can’t see any light at the end of tunnel. Diana asks what’s the point of continuing to live in this reality if you’re never going to find what you seek?
The Council agrees with Diana that true love is the answer to every question, but they remind us it must start within her. They say love is the beginning of the change she’s looking for, but she must learn to love herself first.
If Diana wants more loving people in her life she has to change her vibration in order to attract them. We choose what we experience to learn from it. If it’s a difficult, unloving, or hurtful experience we’ve planned, we’ll remember how to change it by bringing love into it.
Start by finding something to appreciate about what she’s experiencing. Do little things that make her happy. Find the parts of herself that are waiting to be recognized. If she wasn’t ready for this change then The Council wouldn’t be having this discussion with her.
Think about all the good things Diana has done while she’s experienced this difficult time. She’s at the point where she wants to create her life differently and The Council sees this as a wonderful step. Find parts of herself she loves and admire them. No matter how hard she’s created her life, she has come through it and is ready to change it.
As she appreciates her life Diana will have the energy to go on and she will get more clarity as she moves forward. As she experiences this gratitude and love for herself, life will get better.

This post is inspired by a question from Susan who asks if it’s more loving to let her son stay home from school when he doesn’t feel well or to force him to try to walk through his anxiety and go to school. Her son is a 12 year old sixth grader who she describes as very energetically sensitive, dyslexic, has ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), and sensory issues. Her son missed school on Friday and 15 minutes before going to school on Monday he developed a stomach ache. Susan is looking for guidance that will help her in situations like this. She’s concerned about his anxiety ruling him, but she also wants him to make it to the other side of his fears.
The Counsel says much of her son’s stress is related to remembering his past lives when he was abandoned, had no family, and couldn’t speak out. When he’s ready they suggest speaking to him about the help available from spirits and angels when he feels this way, and reminding him these problems aren’t what he’s experiencing now. Susan’s job is to listen to her son, show him he’s heard, remind him he has a lot of love, and each time he experiences this difficulty he gets through the day.
At some point he’ll remember his past lives and this will alleviate much of his fears. Get him to go though his fears by talking about his day. This will bring more understanding. His spirit chose to work on this problem in this lifetime and Susan has agreed to help him learn to speak, to hear and understand him, but not to solve it for him. He’ll do that himself. There should be many talks the night before school and the morning of school reminding him in this lifetime he has the gift of speech and can talk about what’s bothering him.
The Council can’t tell Susan when to let her son stay home and when he should force him to go to school. It is part of her lesson to listen with her heart and know when he can stay home and when he should go to school. Each situation is different. When she chooses to let him stay home, get him to speak about this problem. That’s your agreement in this situation. Together they will move through this.
It’s important to point out that when you force him to go to school he’s gotten through this, but Susan has to believe in herself and know when to push her son to go to school and when to stay home. Susan can’t solve this for her son. She is to be supportive and together they will work through this problem.
Susan’s fears of what happens to her son will create that so no matter what’s going on with her son Susan’s job is to see him succeeding, becoming more sure of himself, seeing him more at ease. The more Susan focuses on this the more she brings it into her reality. Between the two of them there’s a lot of fear that needs to be worked out and the Council sees this happening.

The idea some things in life are ‘meant to be’ and others aren’t, is an interesting and somewhat popular one, particularly when it comes to relationships. Lots of people who wouldn’t ordinarily admit they believe in fate or destiny seem tolerant of the idea that in close personal relationships, things are sometimes meant to be.
In this post we look at The Council’s answer to questions from Chris about what’s meant to be in her life. Although Chris’s questions are about a meaningful relationship, The Council’s answer is a reminder that you create your reality, and their answer offers helpful guidance on how you can do this. Here’s Chris’s question:
“How do I know if I’m meant to be with someone?
“I am 51 years old, am still single, and want to finally stop waiting, working toward, or wondering if I am MEANT to be with anyone.”
“I was in two long-term relationships before, one of which I wanted to work out, but didn’t.
“Then I learned to be ok and fine alone, happy, and rarely longing for someone.
“But now I feel more alone, and was wondering if ‘my time’ was finally coming, or I am just not dealing with my reality?”
The Council’s Answer
“And so she says, is she meant to be with someone, and is her time coming?
“She is the one that will decide if she is meant. She is the one that will decide if her time is coming, because… why? [Because] we are spirit in a physical body and we create our reality.
“And so from what she says, she has experienced a relationship and she has experienced being alone. And so we think for her, she should look back at both situations and focus on what she found loving and pleasant in both situations.
“And so when she can appreciate being in a relationship, and being alone (being with herself and feeling the appreciation and the love [for that]), she will then bring in someone new, someone more on the same vibration that she would be on.
“And it would be more of a relationship that would work out because if she is feeling loving and appreciation, and brings someone of that vibration into her reality, it will be a long-lasting relationship.”
“First to raise her vibration, and once that is in the vibration of love and appreciation, she will (as they say, like attracts like) bring the perfect person in for her to have a life-long relationship, if that is what she wants.
“But we would like her to know that she is not running out of time. There is nowhere it is written that she is meant or not meant to be in a relationship.
“And so, with her thoughts, and with her feelings, and her focus, she will create what she wants.”
“And so when she can focus always on that [happy memories] instead of on the doubt and the worry that time is running out, it will completely change the vibration… and what she brings in.”

This post is inspired by a question from Jan about an important friendship with a former student named Will who became like a son to her when his mother passed away. Jan describes feeling a spiritual connection with Will and believes that as spirits before they were born into this lifetime they planned to be in each other’s human lives.
But as Will developed from a child with autism into a young adult he proceeded to withdraw from friends, family, and finally Jan, to the point where she hasn’t heard from him in over a year and hasn’t seen him in three years. After reading one of our blog posts describing The Council’s advice to a reader experiencing a similar separation from her biological twin brother of 70+ years, Jan asked The Council for their view of her friendship with Will.
This post is inspired by several thought-provoking questions from Joe, who has a strained relationship with his two sons during a difficult divorce from their mother. Joe is familiar with The Council’s teaching that we come into this life with the intention of bringing with us the vibration of love, and that we sometimes pre-plan with other souls before we incarnate, to experience challenging human relationships so we can experience finding the love within ourselves that transforms these situations.
With this in mind Joe asks The Council how he can better understand the spiritual aspects of his role and his children’s role in their strained relationship. On Sunday, May 27, 2012 we did a session with The Council to answer Joe’s questions, and their answers are presented in this post. The highlight of this session for us is The Council’s insight that the people in our lives we find most aggravating are often acting in a way we asked them to as a spiritual being before we incarnated into this lifetime—for the purpose of inspiring us to bring more love into our physical reality.

Recently The Council suggested to Cynthia that we write a post to help people who are feeling frustrated in their attempts to use the teachings of the law of attraction and deliberate creation to manifest what they desire in their lives. As two people who have experienced these frustrations, we liked The Council’s idea and during a session on Saturday, May 5, 2012 we asked for their suggestions for this post.
In this section we’ve gathered The Council’s comments from throughout the session that represent for us the essence of their guidance for manifesting what you desire. In the sections that follow, these comments are presented in the context of the entire discussion, to give you a better idea how these ideas developed during the session.
“We see that many [who] are incarnated in your physical world have many questions about manifestation.”
“We see that many are trying to create specific things – whether it is relationships, whether it is material abundance, whether it is health – [and] that there is trouble in creating it.”
“Many do not know what it means when they hear the phrase, ‘line up with what it is you are trying to create.’ And many are out there teaching ‘to match the vibration of what you are trying to create’. Many do not know how to do this because if you’re trying to create something you’ve never had, or never lived, there is a doubt [about] what it would feel like [and] what it would be like to have this thing or situation.
“So how do you create with your thoughts when you do not have the experience of having whatever it is that you are calling forth? And we believe what many are missing… the secret is: you do not have to line up with that particular thought; you do not have to imagine – even though it is wonderful to imagine – what it is that you want, [and] that you already have it.”
“So if you cannot line up with the vibration of what it is that you want because you have no idea what it would look like in your imagination, or what it would feel like, the answer to this – and this is the answer to manifesting – [is] raise your vibration with happy thoughts, that is the answer.
“When you raise your vibration, everything that you have desired – whether you know how to create it or not –will come to you.”
“It is so simple that many will have a hard time believing this, but we can tell you it’s what you might call the shortcut or the easier way to manifesting. It doesn’t have to be so difficult as seeing that you have it, feeling that you have it, [and] what would it be like? Some cannot do this.
“And so just be happy about anything; stay in the feeling of happiness and spirit will bring in everything that it wants.”

The Rest of the Story
If you agree with The Council that their advice may seem overly simplistic and difficult to believe, I [Bob] had the same feelings during the session (as the following details of our discussion indicate) and for at least the next 10 days. But after listening to the recording of the session every day, meditating on it, and giving The Council’s advice a try, I’m beginning to see evidence there’s something to what they’re saying, and we’re both looking forward to seeing what manifests as we practice reaching for happier thoughts and feelings.
Most of our discussion with The Council during this session is presented in the following sections. Headings have been added to organize the material in logical and manageable blocks of thought.
A Milestone Post
This post is a milestone for us. It’s our first post to include recorded audio content of one of our sessions with The Council, a group of non-physical spirit guides Cynthia is able to communicate with and channel (the process of letting The Council speak using her voice). During a recent session with The Council they seemed concerned many people question the validity of the law of attraction and don’t understand how to use it to their advantage. Law of Attraction Makes it to Primetime
After the widely popular release of The Secret, a 2006 film and a 2007 book about the law of attraction that received a lot of attention in the media, and some bestselling books on this subject by Esther and Jerry Hicks, the law of attraction seems to have found a place in popular culture. Amazon.com recently listed over 1,000 books on the subject, including The Complete Idiot’s Guide to The Law of Attraction. But The Council says there’s a lot of misunderstanding about the law of attraction (LOA).
