How Do I Send Love to People I Don’t Like?
This post is inspired by a question from a reader who goes by the name, PE, who asks The Council how they can send love to people they don’t like.
PE ended a relationship with a male and female couple earlier this year because PE grew to dislike them even thought PE doesn’t know why because they are nice people. But PE is angry with this couple even though they haven’t done anything to justify PE’s feelings. And PE’s resentment feels like it’s based on something specific. PE moved across the country to create some distance from these people, but they ended up working for the same company in the same city.
The Council says in another lifetime, they think in Rome, you and this couple were in the senate together. You spoke out about your beliefs that weren’t generally accepted by others and this couple was against what you stood for and got many others in the senate to turn against you.
Because of the problems these people caused for you in the senate you decided to leave that life, move away, and start doing something else in a new location, quietly, and by yourself. You worked the land and were happy in this life.
In your current lifetime you wanted (in spirit) to come together with this couple, but subconsciously you were reminded of the lifetime in the senate and you moved away like you did in that other lifetime.
What you and this couple agreed to (in spirit) is that this couple would be nice to you in your current lifetime and you would try to see them with more compassion and love, and learn to trust them. This is part of your purpose here in your current lifetime. Try to let go of the feelings of mistrust and not liking this couple and see who they are and you are as spiritual beings and work out this situation.
When PE is ready The Council suggests trying to rekindle this friendship. They suggest PE meditate on the situation first. Feel compassion for this couple who is trying to fulfill their purpose, and be available to your own healing.

Which of Two Job Opportunities Should I Choose?
This post is inspired by a follow-up question from LearningSoulSite, who asks The Council which of two job opportunities in India will be better for her. One is for a startup IT company in the city where she is already located, and one is for a large IT company that wants her to move to Pune, India, which is a new city for her. LearningSoulSite says she doesn’t want to put herself in a more challenging situation than she’s already in.
The Council says LearningSoulSite has very cleverly created both of these job opportunities. They say the job that would require her to move is what’s wanted by her higher self. It will bring new opportunities, a new city, new friends, and to begin her life again.
They also say there’s no right or wrong answer here. If she’s in a place where she desires the security of remaining in the city where she currently is, this is fine. You will grow with this company.
If you choose the job opportunity that takes you to Pune and out of your familiar feeling and environment, you will be forced to grow and find new friends. If you feel you’re ready for this, that is the way to go.
The decision is yours. Whichever company you agree on, you will start your new life. The one that asks you to move is a giant jump in this reality; it is a lesson in trusting and believing in yourself. The other job opportunity that doesn’t require so much change, you will also grow there, but at a slower pace. Both companies will take you in the direction you need to go.

Overcoming Fear and Achieving a Dream
This post is inspired by questions from a reader named Mariette, who started a website around a year ago as a dream to empower others with flower essences, energy healing, and counseling. She’s not really happy in her full-time job and instead wants to work helping others, but she’s having trust issues.
The Council says trusting in herself is something she’s picked as a challenge and that she needs to believe more in herself and have the courage to move forward with what Mariette feels is her desire.
The Council says it’s always when our path in life is close to changing that our fear will come to the surface and that’s what’s currently sabotaging Mariette. Will she be able to move beyond this fear and go on to her desired career? Her higher self is planning ways to get her where she wants to go. To get through the void she’s experiencing she needs to focus on what she desires. This will bring her past her fears. The Council sees she’d be very successful at this if she tries.
The Council doesn’t see a need to pause at this time. While the fear is from many experiences Mariette has had in other lifetimes, they feel focusing on this wouldn’t be productive. Instead they recommend focusing on how beautiful her life will be when she’s doing what she desires.
The Council says there isn’t a reason why Mariette has to stay in a job she’s not happy with. They recommend taking the chance and leaving to fully focus on what she wants.
The Council suggests as she moves forward with this part of her life, trust her feelings about what flower essences she thinks a person would need, even if it’s not in the books she’s reading. This will increase Mariette’s intuition.

Past Lives, Trust, and Future Reconciliation
This post is inspired by questions from an Anonymous reader who asks why the man she was seeing said they were together in a few past lives when she doesn’t believe this to be true, and why was he confused how he felt about her. She also asks if there’s a possibility of a reconciliation with her ex-best friend who she does feel a past life connection with.
The Council sees there have been several lives together with the man she was seeing and they ask why is this so hard to believe. They see there is a feeling of not trusting what she’s being told because this man does not have the best intentions. And they suggest the possibility of getting away from this relationship because this lack of trust is a red flag from her higher self.
The Council says by bringing love into this situation she can honestly speak about this lack of trust with this person. But because there’s a trust issue they ask her to look at other places in her life where there have also been these issues. The Council says this person is the one who is helping bring forward these trust issues in her life because that is something she wishes to heal in this lifetime. And they also say that just because they have been in several lives together, this is not a reason to be together in this life. His purpose in her life has more to do with getting her to face her issues with lack of trust.
On the subject of reconciliation with her ex-best friend The Council sees this situation coming full circle and there will be a reconnection in the future and more understanding what this relationship is about. But first she needs to work through her trust issues so that when this relationship comes around again there will be a different outcome with more understanding.
When Bob asked for any specifics on how this woman might look at her trust issues The Council used the metaphor of peeling an onion one layer at a time. When she feels this distrust they encourage her to ask what this reminds her of and see what memory comes from that. And then to ask again and again, going further back in her life, until she finds a pattern to what set off this distrust.
And once she gets to that point everything will begin to change. Her understanding of how these people came into her life to help her experience and work through these distrustful situations will allow her to be more comfortable with the people in her life.
The Council reminds her to meditate on the next step, ask why she feels this mistrust, and to remember she is spirit in a physical body. Ask herself what she was trying to experience and the answers will come.

What Is Spirit Up To?
This post is the last in a series of 4 posts published to answer 4 interesting questions for The Council from a reader named Jose, who wants to know:
“Why would I, as the one consciousness, seek expansion in incarnating as millions of people living in shanty towns in Brazil, and all countries around the world, through multiple decades?”
At this point, The Council interjected, seemingly rhetorically:
“Yes, why would you?”
Jose’s question continues:
“Isn’t one generation good enough? Isn’t it time to move on, as all the lessons in that kind of environment have been learned?”
And The Council replied:
“Apparently if you create this over and over, all the lessons you want to learn are not done. No one is making you go through this again and again.
“Perhaps you went through it to experience the poverty. Perhaps you go in at another time as someone who can help the ones that are experiencing poverty. Perhaps you bring aid to these people, you build houses for these people, you educate these people.
“So each time you go in there, even if you experience the poverty yourself, maybe you are helping the people around you by the way you handle it.
“But if you are creating this over and over – and no one else but you [is] creating this – then there is something more that you feel you need to experience, to change, to help, and bring that love in.”

Trusting You are Spirit in a Physical Body
Jaqueline’s Question
This is the first of two posts answering questions from Jaqueline, who asks The Council how to follow her inner guidance and find inner peace “even when things seem to be so messed up” in her life.
Jaqueline writes that she understands and sincerely believes in teachings like The Council’s and other teachers she’s familiar with who say, “We shouldn’t worry about anything ever because everything is gonna be just fine,” and, “We should enjoy life and think about whatever we want in our future in a positive vibration.” “But sometimes [it] is really hard to put this in practice.”
We like Jaqueline’s question because it frankly addresses a dilemma faced by many of us who are trying to follow teachings like The Council’s. In our saner moments these teaching make a lot of sense to us; they inspire us and lift our spirits. But sometimes, despite our best efforts, life can feel like an insurmountable challenge. When this happens it can feel equally challenging to remember and put in to practice these teachings about who we are as spiritual beings.
At the time Jaqueline wrote her questions for The Council she commented that, “All the time my head seems to be full of stressful thoughts about my future…about my present…if I’m going in the right direction…if I should do something…or nothing at all. Sometimes I get trapped in some drama and get very emotional about everything. Resuming, I have a hard time going with the flow.”
Stressful thoughts, feeling trapped, and feeling other unwanted emotions can be a challenge. When we feel this way and we also believe we’re not supposed to ever worry about anything and we should always be enjoying life, these expectations can sometimes add to the challenge of turning the situation around so we can ‘go with the flow’.
On July 24, 2012 we had a conversation with The Council (non-physical spiritual guides speaking through Cynthia) to get their advice on how to feel more in touch with well-being on a day-to-day basis when life seems to make this difficult.
This session contains many helpful insights, but for us the highlight is the reminder to meditate regularly on the idea that each of us is a spiritual being in a physical body. The Council advises that this type of regular meditation will help us feel more trusting that we really are spiritual beings, and this trust will help us through difficult times.
Interestingly, The Council says that as spiritual beings we actually look forward to these challenging human experiences because we view them as desirable opportunities to expand who we are as spirit into a physical reality.
This post relates the details of this session with The Council, and also includes some information on two meditation techniques they recommend. We plan to publish separate posts describing these meditations in more detail and eventually we plan to include audio recordings of these meditations as guided meditations.
This session also included The Council’s answer to Jaqueline’s question about whether she is going in the ‘right direction’ career-wise, and how career choices relate to experiences we have in other lifetimes. We feel this information is better suited to a separate post and we plan to publish that post in the near future also.
