What Is My Life Purpose?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named LDavis1978, who says, I’m on a journey of self-awareness and manifestation. I know I want a lifestyle based on freedom and being with family and the ones I love. I know I want to be my own boss, spend my time how I wish, and do something I love. However, I’m stuck on my life purpose. How can I best serve and add value to humanity? Obviously I still need money, which I know is energy. Can The Council help me with my purpose in life?
The Council says your purpose and everyone else’s is to come into this reality and have fun, to bring love in, to have challenges and turn them around, to not take yourself too seriously, and most of all to learn there’s so much more in this reality than you’re aware of.
We see you planned to have the freedom to move around and to work for yourself. You say you’ve taken many courses, and this is a good thing. When you planned this reality you wanted to find something you really liked and then become a coach in this. You wanted to find a way to help people.
At first you thought you wanted to help people physically, but then you changed it because you knew the direction this reality was going and what everyone would face. You decided you wanted to help people develop their minds. You wanted to find out how to work with your own mind first, to manifest with it, be positive, connect with other people, and work with energy. You were very interested in bringing this in and coaching people on how to do this.
In your current reality have fun, but look at your life. Take many classes until you find something that works with the mind that you’re really interested in. And then, after you are well into this subject, come up with things you’ve changed in your own life and how you’ve gone about this. Perhaps you can teach people in small groups, or perhaps just starting with your family or a few friends, to look at things differently. Anything you choose to learn in this lifetime that has to do with expanding the mind and showing people how to do this was your goal in this reality.
You can turn this coaching into a way to make a living. At first you’d do whatever job you have at the moment, but while you were doing this, take your free time to learn more and more about the mind. That was your purpose for coming into this lifetime. You wanted to do this very lightly with a lot of fun and in ways that are easy to understand. When you learn something and it is difficult for you to understand, think of another way you could teach people how to understand this. Come up with your own ways that are more simplistic that can reach more people. This would give you the freedom and the time you desire.
LDavis asks, What are the skills I can use to serve and create a lifestyle for myself and my family based on freedom? The Council says your biggest skill is you know how to learn and you know how to listen and turn things around in your mind. The whole purpose of this particular lifetime is for you to learn to use your mind and pass this learning on to others.
LDavis says, I struggle to think of any skills I have or what brings me joy. The Council says being friendly, being a good listener, bringing fun into whatever you learn, having interesting questions that you can ask people, having a collection of interesting stories of what’s happened to you so far in this life, and sharing these things with others. You were a great storyteller in the Indian culture many lifetimes ago. You can tell stories. And the way you tell them will bring about the information that’s needed for people to have in this lifetime.
LDavis says, I’ve joined programs where I meditate, journal, do inner work, set goals, and visualize. The Council says this is wonderful and asks how you’d teach these things? How would you put your own creation into teaching these things and making them easier and more fun?
LDavis says, I can see the end result. I understand my why, which is my family, but I need guidance on my dharma, my purpose and the steps to take me there. The Council says you’ve already taken many steps with the journaling, with the meditation, reaching out, and learning different things. Do you see you already intuitively were putting yourself on the path of working with your mind? With your mind you’ve increased the ability to write, to journal, to put your understanding or questions into it. You use your mind to meditate, and then let go. You’re already doing what you planned.
Going forward just remember, anything that would reach people and teach them how to increase their ability with their minds, and know this is where we manifest with our thoughts and our visualizations, will give you a whole new career.
The Council wishes everyone fun on their path, happiness along the way, challenges you can overcome, creation of the manifestations you desire, and you can begin to learn it’s easier and easier to direct your life. Stay in joy, stay in love, and follow your path.

Am I On Earth Longer Than Expected to Help With the Dimensional Shift?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Marie, who read our post, Is My Son a Starseed? She says The Council’s answer is a great explanation of the Starseed concept we hear so much about. I’m glad you mention it’s not just for people born after a certain time. I’m 67 years old, but my awakening has been taking place over the last 10 years.
The Council says it’s wonderful that you believe this without blindly following rules and timelines that are made up about when these Starseeds should come into this reality. There were many Starseeds here on Earth throughout its existence before anyone knew about these people.
Marie asks if it’s possible that some of us contracted to live on Earth for a shorter period of time in order to help with a dimensional shift, but because it’s taking longer than expected we are here longer? The Council agrees the dimensional shift is taking much longer than most people expected, but you contracted to come into this reality while this shift of enlightenment is taking place and there wasn’t any time limit, and this is fine.
Many spirits that came to Earth thinking it would be fun to come here and help prepare for this shift in awareness always knew the planet as a whole would advance when it’s ready. When we’re in spirit we think we can handle this shift and get it done, but as our reality develops it becomes more interesting and other things come into play. Some spirits have decided to stay and help with this shift. Others have decided they were here for part of this shift in awareness that is happening, we’ll go back to spirit, and then come back to Earth at a future date.
The Council says the amount of time Marie contracted to be here on Earth has to do with what that personality is experiencing as a human being in this lifetime. It’s more than what the Starseed part of her recognizes she planned to do. Part of the Starseed knows it’s coming to Earth and it will open up and remember its mission. But before that can happen this Starseed is living a human day-to-day life and there are other factors that determine how long you’ll stay on Earth. Did you accomplish what you wanted in this reality as a human being? There are many different ways to look at this.
Marie contracted to come to Earth to help with this dimensional shift, but as a human being, she is also here to learn there are day-to-day issues, other lessons, challenges, and happiness that she wanted to experience. The Council repeats that they don’t see Marie contracted to be on Earth for a shorter period of time to help with the dimensional shift, and she’s not here longer because this shift is taking longer.
The Council closes by thanking Cynthia and Bob for our ability to take their information and have so many people be open to it, and get understanding from it, and get relief from what another spirit has gone through.

Choosing Childhood Abuse
This post answers questions from a reader named, Marie, who’s had an abusive childhood. She asks The Council if a soul can choose a life of pain and suffering, because she can’t believe she’s chosen this for herself. Marie also asks about a strained relationship with her brother in response to our post, What’s is the Purpose of a Decade’s-long Strained Relationship with a Twin Brother.
The Council says when you (in spirit) choose a particularly challenging life experience, you don’t think it will be horrible. In spirit you think you’ll be experiencing this difficulty because you’re not feeling your connection to who you truly are as a spiritual being.
When you’re living a painful physical reality it’s because you’re not fulfilling your purpose in this lifetime, which is to experience this difficulty and then turn it around. You have called in this difficult experience for one reason: to change it.
The purpose of this difficulty is to think how much more you are than a human being in a physical body. It’s to turn your thoughts toward love, no matter what you’re experiencing. Love has the ability to change everything. We are all here for the single purpose of bringing love into our lives.
As you meditate on your situation and begin to understand it, you’re realize this difficulty isn’t a punishment you’ve created for yourself or that others are putting you through. You’ve chosen this experience to change it.
Some souls choose to experience difficult emotions in this lifetime. They call in other souls that have agreed to abuse them, and they have agreed to do this only out of love so you can have this experience and get on with your purpose, which is to change your experience to something better.
Sometimes we pick difficult challenges to teach people around us to see it and perhaps change, or for people to see what we’re going through and have compassion for us. You are awakening in other spirits the vibration of love and compassion because you’ve experienced this.
Marie says her mother was able to show love to her brother and concludes her mother must have agreed with her to show her rejection as part of her life experience. And The Council asks Marie what she’s learned from this? Has she learned not to reject other people and realize she deserves more? Move forward on your path, show love, and do good deeds for yourself and others. Stop the hurting and always look forward to doing good.
Marie says she can’t understand how violence to a child can raise consciousness and lead to an experience of love. And The Council says as she looks at what she’s gone through hasn’t she expanded, even a little bit, and learned how to move forward. The violence has served it’s purpose. You have expanded, even if you don’t think so right now.
On a different subject Marie says she’s tried for a long time to make a better relationship with her brother, but he remains distant. The Council says contact with Marie can bring up difficult memories of the past for her brother. He’s choosing to shield himself from these heavy memories for now.
The Council says changing the way Marie sees her relationship with her brother can make it less painful. He’s not in the same place as Marie and isn’t looking to question his past so much. To get past this, send him the pink vibration of love. As he allows himself to take this in, your relationship will change.
The Council asks Marie if she’s ready to let go of the abuse she’s gone through? Now look forward. What kind of life do you want to create? As long as you focus on the abuse, you won’t move forward and create a new life with caring and love.
Learn from what you’ve come through. Change the way you see your life experience. Think about how this has enlightened you and taught the people who went through this with you what they needed to learn. Create the life you desire. Go into the vibration of love, joy, and happiness and think about this more and more.
You are a brave soul and have come through a lot. Now you are the creator of the rest of your life experience. Meditate on this information repeatedly. Eventually a little light bulb will go off and the understanding will occur on a very deep level and the healing will happen.
Marie needs to know that she’s gone through what she (in spirit) wanted to experience. It’s not her job to think about how everyone else handled it. The abuse didn’t happen because there was something lacking in her. It was set up in spirit for her to experience in her physical reality and now it’s over. Now it’s Marie’s turn to create the rest of her life.
Listen to our entire 18-minute session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Marie and the rest of us on this important subject of why we choose in spirit to experience abuse in our physical life, and let us know your feelings on the subject.
Are There Spirit Realms?
This post is inspired by questions from an appreciative reader named Vacha, who’s been reading about spirit realms and asks The Council’s opinion about these realms. Vacha also asks what she intended, as spirit, to learn in this lifetime.
The Council says they don’t see the existence of the spiritual realms Vacha is speaking of. Instead they see expanding and learning from each incarnation and growing from challenges, happiness, what you learn from the people around you, and how you handle situations and treat people. You keep creating until you feel you no longer need to experience these Earthly realities.
In between these Earthly realities The Council doesn’t perceive any realms. But there are different ways you can help your spirit expand. You can be a guide or helper to people who are experiencing Earthly realities. You can be in spirit and help other spirits create their new Earthly realities. There are many things you can do in the spirit world, but The Council says it’s not like climbing a ladder. The main purpose of everyone’s life is to take the love from spirit and bring it into whatever reality you are focusing on.
On Vacha’s question about what she intended to learn in this lifetime, The Council says one of her lessons is to be very independent and on her own, but also to expand her learning about many different subjects in addition to the spirit world. She wanted to acquire more intelligence and understanding, and The Council feels she is doing this.
Based on her reading, Vacha expresses the idea we can either expand or come down in a realm. The Council repeats there are no realms and says if you think you either expand or get demoted, they say you can never move backwards.
Vacha asks how we can expand the learning experiences in this lifetime and The Council says the way we learn is by repeating the challenges and lessons we pick for ourselves until we understand them.
Listen to our entire 7-minute session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Vacha and the rest of us, and let us know what you think.
What Is Consciousness?
This post is inspired by a question from a reader named Mariner2Mother, who read our post, Has Cynthia Been Communicating with a New Consciousness?, and says it got her thinking about consciousness and the act of creation. She appears to ask if consciousness chooses to exist as a human being when it chooses to perceive itself as an individual, separate from everyone and everything?
The Council says consciousness knows it is one with everything. And consciousness knows that itself, as spirit, is able to multiply and create many lifetimes. All things are learning, growing, expanding, and creating on their own level, but we are one whole consciousness.
The Council says consciousness will create situations were it will perceive itself as an individual, but at the same time our higher self knows that it is one and is creating itself as an individual in this lifetime or another lifetime.
The Council says we are all connected. Your friends and family are also you. We learn from everything. In a larger sense, you are everywhere and everything. Our thoughts are shared by everyone, but we may not realize it while we are experiencing our individual lives.
As a parting thought The Council reminds us that as we help another person grow, we also grow.
This session may be a little more difficult than most to understand. We’re still getting benefits from listening to it. Listen to our entire 5-minute session with The Council on Mariner2Mother’s question about consciousness and creation to hear all their guidance on this subject. Perhaps listening more than once might be helpful, and let us know what you think.
Ask a Question and Spirit Immediately Answers
This session is inspired by a reader named Sam and her questions about a relatively recent pregnancy she terminated. She says there are a lot of loose ends around the termination, and The Council begins by saying these loose ends Sam is talking about are all part of the learning and moving forward.
Sam says ever since she learned she was pregnant she’s been feeling a sense of wholeness and love for herself and she asks if this love is coming from the soul of her child. The Council says while the child’s soul is constantly sending her love, the love Sam is talking about is Sam loving herself because she has followed her pre-birth spiritual plan exactly the way she intended. This love is part of who Sam truly is as a spiritual being. The Council says Sam stepped forward to help this soul, who desired to briefly experience what it was like to be in a human body, and then leave Sam’s body quickly.
Sam says the father of this child wasn’t really there during this pregnancy and isn’t currently in her life. She asks if there’s any meaning to why he was never part of the pregnancy and termination. The Council says the father also agreed in spirit to help this soul experience a brief physical life, but it was never agreed he would stay with her and be a family. Sam says sometimes she thinks about the father and wishes she could tell him all she’s learned from terminating this pregnancy. She says part of her doesn’t think he deserves to know and part of her thinks she should tell him, and Sam asks The Council what she should do.
The Council says in Sam’s spiritual pre-plan, this soul would play the part of the child’s father and then leave Sam’s life. If she chooses to involve him at this point, they say she’d be drifting from what she originally pre-planned, but they add this is okay. This is part of the choice she has in her current lifetime and they advise Sam to think about this choice. She is able to communicate with the father non-verbally and she should know on some level this communication is received. When this information is needed by him, he will have the benefit of whatever she has spoken to him about.
Sam says she’s learned not to look at this experience as a mistake, but part of her feels sad and she wonders if this is from loosing the child or from what she describes as poor decisions she’s made in her life. The Council says if Sam feels she’s made poor decisions, has she learned from them. If she had the opportunity to make these decisions again, would she decide differently based on what she now knows. And they add that this is what life is about – learning and moving on. They also tell Sam it’s important to look at the choices she’s made that have worked out for her and that she feels good about.
When Sam says she feels like she’s running away from her true self, The Council replies there’s nothing wrong with the way she’s handling her situation and they advise her to be open, accepting, and move forward. She will learn from this experience. They advise Sam to feel good about herself, look forward to having more understanding, and feel that it’s safe to let her energy expand rather than holding it close to her physical body.
Sam asks if she shouldn’t feel ashamed for hiding this pregnancy from her parents, and The Council says she is here to experience the love of spirit and there is no purpose to feeling ashamed. There is nothing wrong with the choice she made to terminate this pregnancy.
At the end of this session The Council makes the point that they answered Sam’s questions long before she wrote them on our blog. But was she able to let the answers in? Was she able to sit quietly and understand that her thoughts and feelings or the things she suddenly understood, is spirit reaching out to her with the answers to her questions?
The Council points out that when you have a question, spirit provides you with answers instantaneously, but are you receptive to them? In Sam’s case she had these answers, but she needed them to come in a different way. So she created the answers through this blog. The Council explains we have yet to fully develop to the point where we trust our intuition, and our thoughts, and our feelings. And they add that this is why we are here in this physical reality.
The Council asks Sam to let go of any shame, any regret, or any thinking of wrong doing on this situation she is coming through. It was pre-planned by her in spirit and she executed it beautifully in her physical reality. And they remind Sam to hold on to the feeling of self love.
This session offers much guidance on many aspects of terminating a pregnancy. Listen to the entire 16-minute recording below to hear all of The Council’s advice for Sam and anyone interested in this subject.
Would My Pregnancy Miscarry if I Didn’t Abort?
This post is inspired by a comment from A. who describes her situation as similar to L in the post, “Should I Get Pregnant After My Abortion?” A. says she never expected to have an unplanned pregnancy because she was on birth control for 17 years. But she switched to a natural contraceptive for health reasons, got pregnant, and felt an abortion was her only choice. Her boyfriend didn’t want the child, and having it on her own would be difficult.
She wondered why this happened, and she asks The Council if her sense the pregnancy would miscarry if she didn’t abort was accurate. She couldn’t continue without the support of her partner, and decided with love to abort.
The Council says A.’s decision made with the feeling of love is the right way to go, and that a miscarriage down the road was not her plan. They see she got together with this partner and agreed spiritually to experience this pregnancy, and then experience making a decision on what to do about it independently.
Her partner played his part by not treating A. as lovingly as he did at first, and having her realize she’d be raising this child alone. Wanting to go through the experience of getting pregnant and not relying on another person’s opinion on what to do, A. went with her feeling of love and chose to abort.
In her past lives The Council says A. made a lot of decisions to please other people, or just take their advice. In this lifetime A. wants to become more independent. The pregnancy was planned by her, her partner, and the child (who would have come if A. chose to keep the baby), but knowing she’d have to raise the child alone she was courageous enough to abort.
The Council asks A. to look at the situation she’s gone through with her partner and see what can be learned in love through this. His situation was to have the courage to say he didn’t want to go forward with the pregnancy. If both were unable to fulfill what they wanted, the outcome would have been very different. Both experienced something they ultimately wanted, and The Council sees this as growth for them.
The Council congratulates both A. and her partner and say it’s not always easy to accomplish what’s intended. This was a good outcome, which The Council hopes will bring them much love and happiness. Listen to the entire 9-minute session below to get the full meaning. Let us know what you think.
Your Spirit’s Purpose – Helping Others or Finding Joy?
Lola’s question
Lola wants to know if The Council thinks service to others is the underlying purpose of spirit, and her question appears to be inspired by the following quote from The Council that was posted as a Thought for the Day.
“You are pure spirit expressing itself in the physical. You have come to enjoy the dance of life – sometimes leading, sometimes following – but always with the intent to find joy in every step.”

You are here to bring love into physical reality
“Well #1, you have come here to bring (as we have said before) love from the spirit into your physical world. Now many believe life should be of service to others. Helping one another always brings love into the situation, which is what we [all spirits] are going for — this is our goal.”
Loving is service to others
“There are some [who] believe [that] in their service to others, they will help the poor, they will volunteer for some job in a hospital, [or] teaching, and that is wonderful because this is needed.
“But coming into this reality, just radiating the energy of love is just as important as going out and volunteering at some particular job. … So it is always your choice. What do you feel brings you joy? With joy comes love, always.”
Discovery of Records from Ancient Civilizations
During a recent session to answer a reader’s question about spirit’s intention for the roles of men and women, The Council casually made the following comments about historical records that will be discovered and bring to light many things not currently known about gender roles in earlier times.
“In Jesus’ time many many of the great healers and great teachers…were women, and so many records from that time will come forward, where many women were great leaders, where the women were the rule makers.”
…
Regarding the current perception of male dominance throughout most of history:
“With the knowledge that has been accepted, with the documents that have been found, and yet there is more that will be found, where we will learn more of the interchangeable roles of men and women.”
…
“In the times where Jesus walked the Earth, one of his greatest teachers was a woman named Judith, and so much of what he learned as a child came from her. And yet very little is known of this at this time, but there is much to be discovered.”
…
“Judith was also a teacher and friend of his mother, Mary. And she taught many of the women in that time to be great healers. The men at that particular time in history were not the healers until Jesus came to the forefront, and so that will be discovered also.”

Pain – A Spiritual Perspective
In this post we look at The Council’s spiritual point of view on the subject of human pain. The post was inspired by two questions about pain from two different readers. Robert’s question is a philosophical one about the purpose for pain in our human experience. And Lee Ann’s question is a personal one about a spiritual agreement she thinks she made to ‘take on’ the emotional pain of other people.
Robert’s Question – The Purpose of Pain
If you’re open to the idea there’s a spiritual explanation for things that happen in your human experience, sooner or later you’re likely to wonder what the spiritual explanation is for pain that might be in your life or other peoples’ lives. Robert concludes pain is an anchoring tool that serves the purpose of slowing down your spiritual vibration enough for you to “embody the human density and to have a flesh body,” and he asks The Council’s opinion about this.
“We would like to say here… how many spirits do you think would want to come back and experience this life in the physical body if they knew they had to have pain to anchor themselves into that physical body?
“There is nowhere where we want to come into this physical experience and suffer, and be in pain, and have many, many challenging experiences. It was our belief to come in to make things lighter… more loving, no matter what situation you are in.
“There was never a belief that you must have pain to anchor yourself into a body.
“The spirit decides when to enter [and] when to leave the body; and what its tool is… what its vibration is… is to be in the vibration of love, and happiness, and compassion.
“And there is nowhere where we would want to experience pain, or anyone else’s pain, because that would not help anyone, anywhere, ever.”

Spiritual Near Death Experiences
Anita Moorjani’s Spiritually Uplifting Near Death Experience
Reports of spiritual near death experiences (NDEs) seem to have been around for a long time, but we didn’t give the subject much thought prior to seeing Anita Moorjani on Wayne Dyer’s public television special, Wishes Fulfilled, earlier this year. Anita described a remarkable experience she had when her body went into a coma and her organs began to shut down after a 4 year struggle with cancer.
Although doctors said she wouldn’t live more than a few more hours, Anita described having a transcendent beyond-the-physical-body experience of her magnificence as powerful eternal energy and consciousness able to quickly heal her body of cancer. She emerged from her coma remembering her magnificence and her power, and 4 days later medical tests revealed that 70% of her previously detected cancer was gone. Within 5 weeks doctors were unable to find any cancer in her body.
Recently after learning of a local personal appearance by Anita, which coincided with The Council’s first-time suggestion to read about near death experiences, we both felt inspired to read Anita’s book, Dying To Be Me, about her experience. We decided to skip over most of Part I (described by Anita in her Introduction as an explanation of how growing up full of fear led to her “descent into the prison of cancer.”) But the rest of the book is some of the most uplifting and spiritually inspiring writing we’ve come across in a long time.
Reading Anita’s description of her near death experience and her resulting understanding of a greater reality beyond physical reality is a transcendent experience in itself, and a wonderful reminder of who you are as a spiritual being living simultaneously in a spiritual reality and a physical reality; something The Council reminds us often. If you’re interested in learning more about who you are as a spiritual being, we encourage you to read Anita’s book.
In addition to sharing our enthusiasm for Anita’s book with you, we did a session with The Council on near death experiences and we’d like to share transcribed highlights from that session with you.
When a Loved One Unexpectedly Departs Physical Reality
This post is inspired by a request from Kali, who writes that her partner (father of her two young sons) didn’t physically survive a car crash a couple months ago. She adds that she can’t accept he’s gone, her pain is unbearable, she’s desperately trying to develop herself spiritually so she can connect with the love of her life, and she’d appreciate any guidance The Council can offer.
Do You Believe You are Spirit in a Physical Body?
On November 11, 2013 we did a session with The Council to see if we could get the guidance Kali requested. The Council began this session with the following comments:
“Well first we want to say he [Kali’s partner] hasn’t gone anywhere, he is just out of his physical body.
“You are stating you are desperate and trying to develop spiritually, so first we ask you to meditate on this question: Do you believe you are a spirit here, operating in this physical body? Because that is who you truly are.
“And spirit – which is light and energy – never dies; we transition. We choose to create physical bodies to come into this environment and when we are done, we leave the physical body. But there is no dying; there is no end to spirit. Is that understood?”

The Human-Spirit Relationship and Free Will
Overview
This post is inspired by a question from a reader named Jose, who has read in some of our blog posts (links at the end of this post) that humans are spiritual beings in a physical body, and that spirit sometimes chooses to have human experiences that we (as humans) find undesirable. Jose wants to know how it’s possible for humans to have free will to choose our human desires, if who we are as spirit is choosing human experiences that feel unwanted from our human point of view.
Lots of people have become interested in the spiritual teaching that you are the creator of what you experience, which has been around a while and has become more popular through the teachings of Abraham and other spiritual teachers. Jose’s question suggests he’s aware of lots of things in his human experience he doesn’t want, and after reading in our posts that who you are as spirit sometimes creates human experiences that feel unwanted from your human point of view, he came to the troubling conclusion that spirit is preventing him from having more of the human experiences he desires.
Topics Covered in this Post
Even if you don’t believe spirit is keeping you from manifesting more of what you desire in your life, and you’re not particularly interested in the subject of free will, if you’re interested in ideas to help you feel an increased level of well-being in your human experience, we’re finding the information and guidance from The Council in response to Jose’s question has been a big step for us in that direction. Topics covered in our sessions on Jose’s question and in this post include:
- The relationship between who you are as a spiritual being and who you are as a human being.
- Why the spiritual part of you might desire to have human experiences in a physical reality.
- Why the spiritual part of you might desire to have human experiences that feel undesirable to you as a human being.
- The validity of your human free will to choose your human desires, even if who you are as spirit is choosing to have different human experiences.
- Why you may be having difficulty manifesting your human desires in your physical experience.
Nothing Going On That Spirit Hasn’t Planned For
The Council began our first session on Jose’s questions by emphasizing there isn’t any separation between spirit and human.
“The spirit works through the body it [spirit] has created.
“So there is nothing that is going on that the body wants, that the spirit hasn’t planned for.
“Is that understood? It is all one – the mind, the body, and the spirit – it is all one.”

Feeling Your Way to Manifesting What You Desire
The following is a message The Council delivered to a small group on July 19, 2011 prior to taking questions from participants. Before the session with The Council the group had been discussing the subject of manifesting desires. Headings have been added for emphasis.
“And so we notice tonight the topic was all of the desires that each of us have. And we would just like to tell you that before you came into this physical reality, you knew you had the ability to create anything you desired. If you have the desire, it’s there for you.
Feel Your Way There
“What we always wish to let you know is that you are so much more than a physical body. You are spirit on this journey in a physical world. You are very powerful, and the way to create, to manifest your desires, is to feel your way there.
“It is wonderful to see it, to imagine it, but what brings it in is that feeling. Every part of your body, every cell in your body understands, and as you have those desires and feel your way there, the universe will line up all the opportunities to help you create whatever it is that you want – and we do say – whatever it is that you want.
Abortion, Loss, Reincarnation, Life, Love, Expansion – Beth’s Story: A Spiritual Perspective
This post describes a session with The Council in response to the comment and questions below from Beth on the subject of abortion. The session is full of thought-provoking ideas on lots of different subjects of interest to many people in addition to Beth. Particularly interesting to us is light that The Council sheds on how our spirit’s intentions often manifest in surprising and unexpected ways in our human experience.
Ordinarily we like to offer a sort of running commentary in these posts if we feel it can add some clarity to something The Council says during a session, but it seemed to make this post too long and wordy. It also seemed to place more emphasis on understanding what The Council is saying rather than on appreciating the feeling of the energy offered by The Council and spirit in response to Beth’s questions. More and more we are learning from The Council that what’s important about spiritual understanding is that it’s a focus of attention that allows you to feel in your physical experience more of the love you are as a spiritual being.
As you read through the post, see if you can feel the energy of this session resonating with your spirit. If a clear understanding doesn’t come right away, be patient with yourself and let your connection to who you are as a spiritual being shed light on the material presented here. Give yourself some time. You are always welcome to use the Comment section following the post to ask a question about this material and we’ll do our best to reply.
Beth’s Comment and Questions
“I have a question about abortions as it relates to the Soul and the Soul’s agreement…the Soul of the child, specifically.
“You see I have unfortunately had to make the decision (twice) in my life to terminate what I perceived as ‘untimely’ pregnancies.
“I have a lot of guilt around these decisions, not because of any religious reasons, but more because I am not sure what I did was the right decision for my life’s path.
“Also, I often feel sad wondering how those two Souls (or maybe it was the same Soul) feel/felt that I chose to terminate their little lives.
“I fully believe that those Souls made some type of agreement with me, but I’m wondering if you could shed light on what those agreements may have been.
“Did those little Souls know that they would play this role?
“Is it the same Soul trying to come back in?
“Would I be able to find out more about them, and who they might have become had I chosen differently?
“If we come back in similar Soul groups, could this Soul have been one that I also lost in a previous life (I believe I was pregnant when drowned)?
“I realize that these are many questions, not one, but I am grateful for your input.”
–Beth
You Can Not Stop Life
Reading Beth’s comment and questions to The Council at the beginning of the session, they were quick to comment at the end of her first sentence.
“We really want to laugh here… the word abortion… what does it mean?
“Abort… Stop… Stop life?
“You can not stop life.
“It is all in choosing, and agreements, and experiences.
“And so we just wanted to add that in there.
“Beth did not stop a life… did not cut a life short… everything went as planned.”

What Is Spirit Up To?
This post is the last in a series of 4 posts published to answer 4 interesting questions for The Council from a reader named Jose, who wants to know:
“Why would I, as the one consciousness, seek expansion in incarnating as millions of people living in shanty towns in Brazil, and all countries around the world, through multiple decades?”
At this point, The Council interjected, seemingly rhetorically:
“Yes, why would you?”
Jose’s question continues:
“Isn’t one generation good enough? Isn’t it time to move on, as all the lessons in that kind of environment have been learned?”
And The Council replied:
“Apparently if you create this over and over, all the lessons you want to learn are not done. No one is making you go through this again and again.
“Perhaps you went through it to experience the poverty. Perhaps you go in at another time as someone who can help the ones that are experiencing poverty. Perhaps you bring aid to these people, you build houses for these people, you educate these people.
“So each time you go in there, even if you experience the poverty yourself, maybe you are helping the people around you by the way you handle it.
“But if you are creating this over and over – and no one else but you [is] creating this – then there is something more that you feel you need to experience, to change, to help, and bring that love in.”

Future Lives, Connecting with Famous ‘Dead’ People, & the Importance of the Present
This post describes part of a session with The Council inspired by a question from Jose about how the past, present, and future all happen at the same time. Topics addressed include:
- Jose’s question: Why does The Council sometimes refer to ‘past’ lives when they say at other times the past, the present, and the future are all happening at the same time?
- Future lives
- The connection all human beings have to the creative genius of any human being who has ever lived, and your ability to access this creativity.
- The importance of your ability to choose
- The importance of the present moment
- Karma

Does Spirit’s Pre-Birth Planning Negate Human Free Will?
This post is third in a series describing a session with The Council on Saturday, March 30, 2013 to answer questions from Jose, Michelle, and D. This post focuses on the first of Jose’s four questions and it’s about guidance from The Council in a recent post and the issue of free will:
“In the case of what was shared in Maria’s Plan for a Spiritual Leap, it appears that the spiritual agreement made prior to the incarnation is more powerful than Maria or her friend’s “godly” power to manifest a new reality of survival and togetherness in this lifetime, as if there is no free will in this incarnation.” —Jose
Why Do People Appear Unable to Fulfill a Spiritual Intention to Have Fun and Remember Who We Are?
This post is the second in a series of posts describing a session with The Council on March 30, 2013 to answer questions from Jose, Michelle, and Deborah. Our first post in this series, Every Question is Important, described The Council’s point of view that every question a human being has for spirit is an important question because every human being is part of spirit and every question is worthy of spirit’s attention.
In this current post we describe the portion of the session that focuses on The Council’s answer to this fourth of Jose’s four questions:
“If we come to this incarnation to have fun and ‘remember’ who we really are, why do most people, if not all, fail at this attempt?
“If we are that powerful as spirits, why don’t we leave ourselves iron clad clues of who we are so we can retake our power during this incarnation, instead of being collective sheep following false idols while being subjected to the powerful few?”
—Jose
We’ve wondered about variations of this question from time to time and it’s easy to imagine others interested in spirituality have had similar questions. The Council’s initial response to Jose’s question was:
“Because it is almost like a scavenger hunt. If you came in knowing everything you wanted to do and who you were, it would be quite boring.
“And so when you jump in, the experiences that you create for yourself are there to remind you who you are [and] to show you [that] you have the power of choice, you have the power of creation, [and] you have the power to bring love into every situation.”

Every Question is Important
This is the first of several posts describing a 1-hour session with The Council on Saturday, March 30, 2013 to answer recent questions from Jose, Michelle, and D.
Jose’s Question #4
We began the session with Michelle’s question about whether to move to Barnstaple, Devon or Glastonbury (both in England), and when I (Bob) was about to ask The Council D’s question about what she describes as a broken soul contract, The Council interrupted:
“There is a number 4 that we keep seeing; what is that, Bob?”
—The Council
(This formatting throughout the post represents The Council’s comments during our session. Text [in brackets] in these quotations has been added to improve readability and clarity when this seems useful.)
I explained that we have four very interesting questions from Jose and that we answered his first 3 questions based on our understanding of The Council’s teachings because they seemed related to guidance we’ve written about in other posts. It was our intention to ask The Council about Jose’s fourth question in this session and when they asked about a number 4, I assumed they were referring to the Jose’s fourth question. I asked if they’d like me to read Jose’s fourth question to them and they said, “Yes.”
Jose’s Question #4: “If we come to this incarnation to have fun and remember who we really are, why do most people, if not all, fail at this attempt?”
Why Would Spirit Choose to Be a Human Being Who Experiences Pain?
If you’ve read our Welcome post in the right-hand column of these blog pages, you may remember The Council’s #1 teaching: all human beings are spiritual beings in a physical body. In the 4-5 years The Council’s been speaking to us through Cynthia, this is the idea they have most consistently emphasized.
We mention this in connection to a recent question for The Council from Tanya, who says she’s having the most painful experience of her life because she believes a close personal friend has broken a soul agreement he made with her in spirit.
“Do you realize you have what you believe is a soul contract — we call an agreement, not a contract — with everyone that enters your life?”
I (Bob) mentioned to The Council that Tanya seems particularly interested in a specific soul agreement with one special man who’s been in her life, and how she feels he has broken this soul agreement.
“There is no broken contract or agreement. It is something that was decided between the two of you before you even entered into these bodies. And so when you go through something that is difficult, you believe, ‘uh-oh, something went wrong, this contract is broken.’
“It is exactly the way you wanted it to be, on [the part of] both partners.”

Maria’s Plan for a Great Spiritual Leap
This post is about a question Maria asked after reading a Thought for the Day from The Council titled ‘Everyone In Your Life Was Invited By You‘.
Maria explains her best friend is on his deathbed and she’s experiencing a lot of emotional pain about this. She is asking The Council if it is also with her permission that her friend is exiting her life, because she’s having difficulty understanding why she would agree to ‘loose’ him at this time and in this way.
There is Agreement
“No one comes into your life unless you invite them. Their departing your life is something that they plan along with you, so there is agreement for both of you that when it is time, when you feel you have concluded what you needed to do together, one or both [of you] exit [the physical body].
“And so, although you find this very painful, it has been discussed and planned while you were still in the spirit world.”
Jan & Will’s Telepathic Communication
This post is inspired by a question from Jan about an important friendship with a former student named Will who became like a son to her when his mother passed away. Jan describes feeling a spiritual connection with Will and believes that as spirits before they were born into this lifetime they planned to be in each other’s human lives.
But as Will developed from a child with autism into a young adult he proceeded to withdraw from friends, family, and finally Jan, to the point where she hasn’t heard from him in over a year and hasn’t seen him in three years. After reading one of our blog posts describing The Council’s advice to a reader experiencing a similar separation from her biological twin brother of 70+ years, Jan asked The Council for their view of her friendship with Will.
Why You Are Here
You are constantly given the opportunity to expand.
When you extend yourself
to help or comfort another,
you grow.
It is why you came.
You came
to extend the vibration of love
from spirit to physical.
When someone is in pain
and you can help them find relief,
you grow.
When someone has tears
And you help them find joy,
You grow.
When someone is depressed
and you help them find hope,
you grow.
When someone is lost
and you help them find their way,
you grow.
It is in extending your hands and hearts
that you grow.
There is no question
that whatever you offer
will always be returned.

The Influence Our Thoughts & Feelings Have on Other People’s Experience
This post is a response to a question from a reader named Bari who wants to believe her better-feeling thoughts about her boyfriend will create better-feeling experiences of the two of them together, as taught by the spirit guides Abraham. But when her boyfriend repeats behaviors that contrast her better-feeling thoughts, Bari wonders how much of an impact her thoughts and feelings are really able to have on the experience of her boyfriend, or anyone else, and she asks The Council’s opinion on this.
This post is the third in a series based on comments from The Council during a single session on Sunday, April 15, 2012 to answer three thought-provoking questions from Bari and Rachael. Reincarnation and past lives were the subjects of the first post, and the second post, in this series.
Helping Others with Our Thoughts
Part way through reading Bari’s second question, The Council offered the following initial comments:
“In the non-physical it is sometimes planned: ‘At some point in my life I will meet you on Earth in the physical. And if I am going through something difficult and I can’t remember who I really am, will you remind me by your thoughts? By your thoughts I will feel that energetic change. I will feel the positive vibration that you are thinking.’ And then, of course, it is up to the [other] person to tune into it and expand with it.
“And so your thoughts go out, whether positive or negative. And the soul you are working with or you are in partnership with feels that vibration.
“And so if they are depressed or they are not accomplishing what they want to accomplish, your positive thought vibration is there and it sort of kick-starts them, but you can not control what they do.
“It’s [as if] you hold the light; you hold the remembrance of who they really are for them. And then, if they allow it, they will feel that and they will move forward.
“But when you have positive thoughts or negative [thoughts] about someone, in your experience that’s how you will experience them. Is that clear?”

Reincarnation, Part 2 – Why We Incarnate in a Physical Body
This post is the second part of our response to two thought-provoking questions on reincarnation and past lives (one from Bari and one from Rachael) and an inspired second question (from Bari), about the impact our thoughts and feelings can have on other people’s experience.
In our most recent post, Reincarnation, Part 1: All Past Lives are Present Lives, we write about The Council’s response to Bari’s question on past life experiences and on the impact they have on our current lifetime. Here’s one of the more interesting things The Council had to say about the subject while answering Bari’s question:
“All of your lives are present lives. They are all going on at the same time. And you may wonder: how is this possible?
–The Council (similarly formatted text below indicates quotations from The Council)
A large portion of the Part 1 post is devoted to additional comments from The Council on this point. The information on reincarnation in Part 1 can also help with understanding the material that follows in this post.
Why Are We Here?
Rachael wants to know why we, as souls, repeatedly return to Earth, and specifically why she is here…again. She wants to know, “What is the purpose of being here?” And she wonders if learning lessons has anything to do with this purpose. The Council began answering Rachel’s questions with the following comments.
For Love and Expansion
“First of all, you would never be here if it was not your choice. So even though perhaps at the present moment you feel you don’t want to be here, we have to really tell you: yes you do. Otherwise this would not be going on. So it was your choice to come here.
Reincarnation, Part 1 – All Past Lives are Present Lives
This post is the first part of a response to two thought-provoking questions on reincarnation and past lives, one from Bari and one from Rachael, and an inspired second question from Bari about the impact our thoughts and feelings can have on other people’s lives.
Bari’s Question
Bari has heard the popular spirit guide, Abraham, say that past lives don’t impact our current life. Bari finds this unexpected and asks The Council’s views on this subject.
“We like that she believes in reincarnation because that at least let’s us know that you [Bari] know that you are not just here one time and your life is over, as many people do believe.”
“When you understand that you are truly spirit in a physical body that continues to take many different forms and there is no end to what you call life, then you are open to learning many new thoughts [and] many new beliefs about these many, many lives, and that you truly do never die.”
–The Council (similarly formatted text below indicates quotations from The Council)
I asked The Council if they think that people who believe in reincarnation and past lives will automatically also believe they are spirit in a physical body.
“We believe that they know that they are more than this body because: what is coming back in each additional life? And so when you know that this shell, this body, this vehicle that you travel around in – when that expires there is still you – and that is the part of you that we urge you to get in touch with.”
All of Your Lives are Present Lives
“All of your lives are present lives. They are all going on at the same time. And you may wonder: how is this possible?
July 29, 2011 Thought for the Day
There is No Going Backwards
And so you are constantly expanding,
Even when you think
You are not creating
What you want to receive.
You always expand.
There is no going backwards,
There is no being stagnant.
—The Council
Excerpted from The Council’s opening comments to participants of a Manifesting Your Desires meeting on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in New York City.
(The Council’s opening comments lasted about five minutes and with the exception of a brief greeting, each statement seems to stand on its own as a thought for the day. Beginning July 25, 2011 we are publishing The Council’s opening comments during this session as eight individual thoughts for the day. This post is the fifth of the series.)
July 7, 2011 Thought for the Day
Fear is only something you have created,
Knowing it would bring your full attention
To your beliefs about your limitations.
Fear is only a tool
For your expansion.
—The Council
July 3, 2011 Thought for the Day
We never return to lower forms of life.
That would go against the law of expansion.
—The Council
July 2, 2011 Thought for the Day
Notice the world
You have created
Around you.
It is your classroom,
Your playground,
Your amusement park,
And more.
You are creating
This diverse and multifaceted environment
To experience the expansion
You came here for.
