Ask The Council

What will you ask Spirit?

Having Difficulty Believing in Life After Death

This post answers questions from a reader who goes by the name, ImportantOrNotBlog, who says they’ve read all our blogs and listened to all the recorded sessions, read books on past lives, life between lives, and reincarnation, and has a difficult time believing all of it. They’re anxious to believe they’re a spirit having a physical experience, but they’re stuck thinking there’s biological death and nothing after that.

The Council says if there’s nothing after biological death, who do you think Bob is speaking with? We are spirits without bodies and this is evidence of life after biological death. Like you, we are made of energy that transforms and changes shape, but has no ending. When you leave your physical reality that you’ve created, you’ll go back into spirit, which is energy, light, and love.

The Council says that what you believe as you end this lifetime is what you’ll experience when you return to spirit. If you believe there’s nothing else after your body dies, you’ll experience this nothingness until you realize there’s more. As you experience nothing, your higher self is experiencing the life you’ve just completed and past lives you’ve come through, until you’re able to remember who you truly are. Then you’ll come out of your experience of nothingness and continue from there. Your beliefs are a big part of what you’ll experience.

The Council says proof of life after death exists in books about people who’ve had near death experiences and what they’ve seen and felt. But for ImportantOrNotBlog, they need to believe they’re a spirit in their physical body and you come to Earth to create. Every day you should concentrate on things you want. Ask for signs. Meditate. Read E-Squared, by Pam Grout, which will teach you how to ask for what you want. When you’re able to do this you’ll begin to feel the power of spirit within you and you’ll begin to get the idea you’re much more than the physical body you inhabit.

You’re made of light and energy which has created a physical body that you need to experience what you want in your current lifetime. When these experiences have been realized and there’s nothing else you want, you no longer need the body. You go on as spirit and the body will decay.

You can ask for dreams of people who’ve left their physical bodies for the last time. When you ask people or animals who’ve passed to come to you, they will, but you you have to allow this to happen. These dreams will feel different from a regular dream. You’ll feel the love these people or an animal are in spirit and you’ll remember this dream.

If you can create little miracles every day, like the ones suggested in the book E-Squared, you’ll open your intuition and allow clarity and understanding so you receive more and more proof there’s a life beyond the one you’re living now.

Listen to our entire 15-minute session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for ImportantOrNotBlog and the rest of us on how we can believe in life after we leave our physical bodies, and let us know how you feel about it.

Questions about a Move, a Career, and Family

This post is about questions for The Council from a reader named, Maria, about whether to move, about her career, and about her family.

The Council says there are several different roads Maria can take, and as they’ve said in many other posts, you are the creator of your future. You create with it your thoughts and your feelings.

Maria planned to have a life of adventure. She planned that her brother in another lifetime would be her partner in this lifetime. She planned to give birth to a rainbow baby. And she, her husband, and this child have a desire to learn about healings, spiritual life, energy, and how to create what’s desired in their life.

There was an agreement (in spirit) that Maria would have a break with her biological family. They are on a different path and not open to what she and her family desire to learn in this lifetime.

After Maria and her family have taken some trips and made a move, which they say is in the process of being created, there’s the opportunity to put down roots and have more interest in a spiritual path. There’s a desire to understand where we come from, who we are, and our purpose here. Maria will learn much if she continues on this path.

The Council suggests reading books that are channeled by spirits, reading about past lives, reading about people who’ve had near death experiences, and reading about Indigo children who’ve come in with memories of other lives.

Maria asks The Council what they see for her career. The Council says it’s a good idea to focus on writing and teaching. These are talents she’s had in other lifetimes. Maria should write about her experiences on her spiritual path, how she opens to higher spiritual vibrations, and how to bring a sense of play into her work.

Maria’s husband and children are familiar spirits from other lifetimes. The youngest child is the one to watch. Answer this child’s questions honestly. Tell this child about Maria’s day and how she feels about things that happen. The youngest child will want to learn about feelings. If Maria and her family proceed on this path they’ll experience a life that’s different from what they currently have.

Listen to the recording of our entire session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Maria and the rest of us, and let us know what you feel.

Near Death Experiences as Evidence of Spiritual Reality

A reader named Jose wants to know why some people who have a near death experience (NDE) are able to come back to their physical body, and others just have a physical death experience and don’t come back.

From his reading about near death experiences, Jose says it appears that as you cross over from physical reality to spiritual reality, you realize your spiritual magnificence and ability to cure your physical body of any disease or catastrophic accident, and live a wonderful life. With this in mind Jose wants to know why anyone wouldn’t return to their physical body after realizing such power, particularly if they could also prevent loved ones from experiencing the emotional pain and suffering that often occurs when someone departs physical reality.

When You are No Longer in Your Physical Body, You are Still You

“We would like to say here that there are many that have near death experiences and do not have any memory of it, because those who have the near death experience and come back to share it with others, this was part of their plan incarnating into this lifetime.

“At this particular time on a planetary level, many of the souls that are living in the physical body are learning about being spirits in this physical body. But they want some proof that there is more, [that] there is a beyond, that they have come in, that they can (so to speak) die and come back.

“And so the ones that have the near death experiences and return to share that… that was part of their purpose. Much of the information they receive when they are in that near death state… all of it is not remembered and brought back with them. So what is brought back and shared is to help others know that there is a great beyond; there is a better place; there is a spiritual eternity that goes on.”

“The people that do have these near death experiences and come back to share that, it was their agreement that this would happen and they would be carriers of the messages, with proof of what they experienced: that there is more than just living in this physical body.”

“And so it was also planned that all ages would have this experience, and would have proof of what was going on when they were (so-called) dead: that they knew…what was being said, what was going on, who was there. So you have young children experiencing this, old people experiencing [this], middle-aged people [experiencing this].”

“And so when so many different ages and types of people all over your planet are having this experience, it is to bring that information with (what you would say) solid proof that you are a spirit in a physical body. And when you are no longer in that physical body, you are still you. You still exist. Is that understood?”

—The Council
(The formatting above throughout this post represents The Council’s comments during our session. Text [in brackets] in these quotations has been added to improve readability and clarity when this seems useful.)

The Council repeatedly emphasized that not everyone who has a near death experience remembers the magnificence of their spiritual reality when they return to physical reality. Increasing numbers of people are able to remember because this is their intention as a spiritual being, and because they agreed to have this experience to help other souls remember you are part of a spiritual reality beyond your physical experience.

The proof The Council mentions is the ability of people who’ve had near death experiences to accurately report physical reality occurrences that took place while their physical body is unconscious, often at a distance from their physical body that leaves no other explanation for this awareness other than a non-physical/spiritual explanation.

If you believe that who you are will cease to exist when life passes from your body, The Council reminds you that you are the life that passes from your physical body. Who you truly are is the eternal life energy that temporarily occupies your human body.

What About Free Will?

Jose’s question also mentions the aspect of near death experience reports where people say they were told it wasn’t their time to leave their physical body and they were supposed to return to physical reality in order to fulfill some purpose. Jose asks where free will comes in if souls are prevented from making the transition from physical to spiritual reality.

“When you are told to go back, you are also reminded why. And so if many do not remember, they usually will come back saying that they had another purpose, or it wasn’t fulfilled, [or] it wasn’t their time. But the choice is always in the spirit whether to return or not.

“But as we said, so much is experienced that is not remembered [that] you may come back and say, ‘I was told to come back.’ But in reality you choose to come back because of what you’ve experienced, and what you’ve heard, and what you know when you were in the spiritual dimension with us.”

The Council has emphasized in several sessions that your free will as a spiritual being is never compromised. But from your human point of view this can seem questionable if you feel your human desires aren’t being satisfied because something is preventing it.

In Closing

The Council is showing quite a bit of interest in near death experiences lately and we’re beginning to understand why. Many of these reports are of experiences that are difficult to explain by the physical reality conventions that modern societies have come to believe in and depend on. It’s exciting to imagine these reports of near death experiences are helping persuade people that awareness that spiritual reality is at least as important as awareness of physical reality.

Spiritual Near Death Experiences

Anita Moorjani’s Spiritually Uplifting Near Death Experience

Reports of spiritual near death experiences (NDEs) seem to have been around for a long time, but we didn’t give the subject much thought prior to seeing Anita Moorjani on Wayne Dyer’s public television special, Wishes Fulfilled, earlier this year. Anita described a remarkable experience she had when her body went into a coma and her organs began to shut down after a 4 year struggle with cancer.

Although doctors said she wouldn’t live more than a few more hours, Anita described having a transcendent beyond-the-physical-body experience of her magnificence as powerful eternal energy and consciousness able to quickly heal her body of cancer. She emerged from her coma remembering her magnificence and her power, and 4 days later medical tests revealed that 70% of her previously detected cancer was gone. Within 5 weeks doctors were unable to find any cancer in her body.

Recently after learning of a local personal appearance by Anita, which coincided with The Council’s first-time suggestion to read about near death experiences, we both felt inspired to read Anita’s book, Dying To Be Me, about her experience. We decided to skip over most of Part I (described by Anita in her Introduction as an explanation of how growing up full of fear led to her “descent into the prison of cancer.”) But the rest of the book is some of the most uplifting and spiritually inspiring writing we’ve come across in a long time.

Reading Anita’s description of her near death experience and her resulting understanding of a greater reality beyond physical reality is a transcendent experience in itself, and a wonderful reminder of who you are as a spiritual being living simultaneously in a spiritual reality and a physical reality; something The Council reminds us often. If you’re interested in learning more about who you are as a spiritual being, we encourage you to read Anita’s book.

In addition to sharing our enthusiasm for Anita’s book with you, we did a session with The Council on near death experiences and we’d like to share transcribed highlights from that session with you.

What About the Ego?

Recently we read Anita Moorjani’s bestselling and spiritually uplifting book, Dying To Be Me, on a near death experience (NDE) she had after a 4 year struggle with cancer. We feel so inspired by this book that we did a session with The Council to learn more about NDEs, and we’re in the process of writing a post describing that session.

While working on that post we came across something in the Questions & Answers chapter of Anita’s book on the subject of Ego that we’d like to share here. The subject of Ego often comes up in spiritual discussion groups we attend, and in online discussions, books, and articles on spirituality. There appear to be lots of different beliefs about the ego: what it is, what it isn’t, it’s influence on your spiritual growth, how to deal with it, etc. Anita’s answer to the following question about ego is one of the most satisfying we’ve come across, and feels very much in harmony with what The Council is teaching. For a good understanding of Anita’s answer it may help to have read her book, but we hope you get the idea and find it helpful.

Question for Anita

“Most people on a spiritual path believe that the ego impedes spiritual growth and that we’re supposed to shed the ego. Why aren’t you advocating this?”

Anita’s Answer

“Because if you deny the ego, it will push back against you harder. The more you reject something, the more it fights back for its own survival. But when you can completely love your ego unconditionally and accept it as part of how you express in this life, you’ll no longer have a problem with it. It won’t impede your growth – on the contrary,  it will be an asset.

“We’re all born with an ego – it’s a natural part of who we are here. We’re only completely without it in death. Fighting against this during life only creates more self-judgement. Plus, only when we love our ego unconditionally are we able to accept everyone else’s. This is when it stops being an issue, and your humility and magnificence really shine through.”

—From Dying To Be Me, by Anita Moorjani, p.173, published by Hay House ©2012

If you believe you have an ego that’s interfering with your spiritual growth, Anita appears to be saying that if you practice loving your ego unconditionally you will have a much more spiritually satisfying experience than if you look for ways to minimize your ego. This makes lots of sense to us. In other words, if you’re concerned your ego is causing you problems – spiritually or otherwise – consider the possibility these difficulties are more likely the result of your beliefs about your ego and your attitude towards it than something inherent in the nature of the ego.
