Should I Hope To Be Contacted By This Guy?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, T. Franks, who asks about love and finding their soulmate. She says, I’m in my mid-20s and dreamed of finding my Prince Charming since I was a little girl. I’ve learned so many lessons in this lifetime and I’ve found unconditional love with members of my family with whom I’d previously not gotten along. I’ve dated a number of men, but we never shared that soul connection and I’ve never been in love. I want to experience the feeling of being in love with someone who is my soulmate.
The Council says when you date someone, whether your expectations are very high or it’s just a few dates, that is a soul connection. It’s two souls that have come together, whether for a short time or a long time. It’s a good idea to look at each of these relationships and find what’s good in each one of them. How did it make you feel? Being grateful for what you like you can create more and more love.
T. Franks says, recently my mother connected with someone who has a son my age who lives near me and he seems perfect on paper. It’s over a week and I’ve still not heard from him. I understand things are crazy with COVID, but I wonder if I should hold out hope or if the son won’t be contacting me and I should just move on.
The Council feels your thoughts about love and other people stepping in to help you make a connection are a little desperate. It’s like you think who’s going to step in and help you find true love. Be at ease with yourself. When you want something, ask for it, look for it, and you practice knowing this thing is coming to you. It will come easier than if you think you want to find your soul connection and have a parent’s friend step in. We understand these people are trying to be helpful, but the vibration is the wrong vibration to bring to you what you want.
The Council says looking at what was pre-planned before coming into this reality, this man also has different needs that he wants to be met. It’s a way where you can come together. We don’t see this relationship lasting a long time, but it’s just to bring in the vibration of having someone to speak with and to join with for a while. We see you pre-planned in spirit to be transitions for each other.
You planned to stimulate within each other what you’d call the vibration of true love or true romance by just being friends. We don’t see this relationship as one you have planned for the long term. It was just for you two to come in and sort of push each other through something by having a connection and wanting more. We don’t see this man as your Prince Charming.
T. Franks says dating is really difficult these days because I don’t participate in the hookup culture and online dating apps. I don’t want to be 40 years old when I finally find my Prince Charming.
To this, The Council asks why not? When you create true love you create it on your own terms. It doesn’t matter if you’re 15, 20, 30, 40, or 70. When you finally find the person you’re able to have a love relationship with, what does it matter how old you are? This is what you need to look at. You need to feel grateful that love is there for you. Sooner or later, as you keep positive thoughts about this love, you will have it. Would you rather not have true love at 40 and not have it at all. Or have it at 40 and go through the rest of your reality with it?
The Council advises T. Franks to appreciate the love she has with her family. Appreciate anything you can build on with this man you’re hoping to meet. Look around yourself to friends and anyone you feel a comfortable and supportive relationship with. As you appreciate that and ask for more, it will come.
There is a long term relationship that you pre-planned in spirit. We don’t want to give it away because your homework is to just appreciate the love you have around you from family, from co-workers, from friends, wherever you feel it. Even if you have a pet that you show love to and feel it back. Appreciate that. Appreciation will bring you what you want.

Loving Feelings with a Married Co-worker
This post is inspired by a question from a reader named T. who asks The Council the purpose of a beautiful soul in her life who happens to be a co-worker and married to another woman.
T. says she’s never felt so free and content just knowing he exists and feels unconditional love for him. She’s unable to see any unhappiness in his marriage, and while she knows he feels something for her, T. has no idea what this is. She asks for signs of his feelings, but finds them confusing.
T. wonders if she shouldn’t give energy to the idea of being with him one day, or sit back and wait for the right time to be with him. She asks The Council why they have come together, if they’ve lived past lives together, and what is his purpose in her life?
The Council asks T. why she would want to give up this unconditionally loving relationship and they add this is the reason we have come to this physical reality. She has created this relationship in her life and she needs it.
The Council asks if T. must have more, or if she’s able to appreciate the relationship she’s having right now? Does she want to come between this man and his wife?
The Council feels confident T. will create whatever she wants. Perhaps she’ll create an affair with this man – whether it ends well or not will depend on how she creates it.
The Council says T. is able to create a situation where this man leaves his wife. Or is T. able to enjoy this relationship, taking what she finds there, and create her very own partner without separating this married couple? The Council says there isn’t any judgement of her whichever she chooses. What feels better to her?
The Council says T. and the co-worker have lived past lives together and he’s in her life now to help her get in touch with loving feelings that will help her create what she desires. Will T. take the love she’s created in this relationship and create a new relationship where she’s able to share these feelings with someone else, and still remain friends with this co-worker? Or does T. want to create what she desires with this man she works with?
The Council says it’s very important for T. to focus on the feelings and emotions that are uplifting for her and then choose whether she’d like to share this love with her co-worker, or create someone new in her life to share this love with.
This is a choice The Council says wants to be made (presumably in spirit). As they see it, this choice was discussed before coming into this physical reality when T. was in spirit, and it was her wish to see how she could create loving feelings wherever she goes, whether it be in an intimate relationship or with family, friends, co-workers, etc.
The Council says this situation is not about creating the right partner for T. It’s about creating loving feelings in all her relationships.

Was Abortion Part of My Soul’s and My Unborn Child’s Soul Plans?
Ask The Council audio recordings
A couple years ago we experimented with including audio recordings of Ask The Council sessions in a few of our posts. With this post we continue to make these recordings available to readers in the hope they’ll shed additional light on The Council’s teachings.
Beth’s question about abortion
In June 2013 we published a post to answer a question for The Council from a reader named Beth about the subject of abortion (Abortion, Loss, Reincarnation, Life, Love, Expansion – Beth’s Story: A Spiritual Perspective). Interestingly, but maybe not surprisingly, this post has received many more views from readers than almost every other post except our Welcome post, and it has received almost three times the number of comments of our next most commented post (also excluding our Welcome post).
Emmy’s question
One of those comments is from a reader named Emmy who says:
“I think this post is great in helping understand [abortion], as it can be overwhelming at times. I had an abortion in 2012 and I still think about it every day. And I want to ask The Council if the spirit will come back to me in the future, and was it part of our soul plans?“

We feel the spirit will come back
The Council begins by posing a couple clarifying questions for Emmy before offering their answer:
“You want to know if the soul will come back in your future, in this particular life?… in another life in what you consider the future?… will it return?
“Yes, we feel it will, in other realities – in what you would consider future lifetimes. There is never a loss or an ending when you are together with spirits who have come to help you.”
“This spirit may choose not to come in as her child. We see they will choose to be together, probably many more times, but in different roles.”

Pain – A Spiritual Perspective
In this post we look at The Council’s spiritual point of view on the subject of human pain. The post was inspired by two questions about pain from two different readers. Robert’s question is a philosophical one about the purpose for pain in our human experience. And Lee Ann’s question is a personal one about a spiritual agreement she thinks she made to ‘take on’ the emotional pain of other people.
Robert’s Question – The Purpose of Pain
If you’re open to the idea there’s a spiritual explanation for things that happen in your human experience, sooner or later you’re likely to wonder what the spiritual explanation is for pain that might be in your life or other peoples’ lives. Robert concludes pain is an anchoring tool that serves the purpose of slowing down your spiritual vibration enough for you to “embody the human density and to have a flesh body,” and he asks The Council’s opinion about this.
“We would like to say here… how many spirits do you think would want to come back and experience this life in the physical body if they knew they had to have pain to anchor themselves into that physical body?
“There is nowhere where we want to come into this physical experience and suffer, and be in pain, and have many, many challenging experiences. It was our belief to come in to make things lighter… more loving, no matter what situation you are in.
“There was never a belief that you must have pain to anchor yourself into a body.
“The spirit decides when to enter [and] when to leave the body; and what its tool is… what its vibration is… is to be in the vibration of love, and happiness, and compassion.
“And there is nowhere where we would want to experience pain, or anyone else’s pain, because that would not help anyone, anywhere, ever.”

Every Question is Important
This is the first of several posts describing a 1-hour session with The Council on Saturday, March 30, 2013 to answer recent questions from Jose, Michelle, and D.
Jose’s Question #4
We began the session with Michelle’s question about whether to move to Barnstaple, Devon or Glastonbury (both in England), and when I (Bob) was about to ask The Council D’s question about what she describes as a broken soul contract, The Council interrupted:
“There is a number 4 that we keep seeing; what is that, Bob?”

I explained that we have four very interesting questions from Jose and that we answered his first 3 questions based on our understanding of The Council’s teachings because they seemed related to guidance we’ve written about in other posts. It was our intention to ask The Council about Jose’s fourth question in this session and when they asked about a number 4, I assumed they were referring to the Jose’s fourth question. I asked if they’d like me to read Jose’s fourth question to them and they said, “Yes.”
Jose’s Question #4: “If we come to this incarnation to have fun and remember who we really are, why do most people, if not all, fail at this attempt?”
The Influence Our Thoughts & Feelings Have on Other People’s Experience
This post is a response to a question from a reader named Bari who wants to believe her better-feeling thoughts about her boyfriend will create better-feeling experiences of the two of them together, as taught by the spirit guides Abraham. But when her boyfriend repeats behaviors that contrast her better-feeling thoughts, Bari wonders how much of an impact her thoughts and feelings are really able to have on the experience of her boyfriend, or anyone else, and she asks The Council’s opinion on this.
This post is the third in a series based on comments from The Council during a single session on Sunday, April 15, 2012 to answer three thought-provoking questions from Bari and Rachael. Reincarnation and past lives were the subjects of the first post, and the second post, in this series.
Helping Others with Our Thoughts
Part way through reading Bari’s second question, The Council offered the following initial comments:
“In the non-physical it is sometimes planned: ‘At some point in my life I will meet you on Earth in the physical. And if I am going through something difficult and I can’t remember who I really am, will you remind me by your thoughts? By your thoughts I will feel that energetic change. I will feel the positive vibration that you are thinking.’ And then, of course, it is up to the [other] person to tune into it and expand with it.
“And so your thoughts go out, whether positive or negative. And the soul you are working with or you are in partnership with feels that vibration.
“And so if they are depressed or they are not accomplishing what they want to accomplish, your positive thought vibration is there and it sort of kick-starts them, but you can not control what they do.
“It’s [as if] you hold the light; you hold the remembrance of who they really are for them. And then, if they allow it, they will feel that and they will move forward.
“But when you have positive thoughts or negative [thoughts] about someone, in your experience that’s how you will experience them. Is that clear?”

When you are aligned with source,
You will not find yourself judging or criticizing
Yourself or others.
Your alignment with source
Allows you to love
And appreciate yourself and others
Unconditionally.

Is There a Difference Between Our Spirit and Our Soul?
This post is inspired by a question from Oksana, who observes that in our sessions with The Council there are many references to spirit, but not many references to soul. Oksana asks if The Council can provide information specific to the soul. She’s particularly interested in The Council’s point of view on whether it’s possible to do things that can be detrimental to our soul.
Our Soul is an Aspect or Part of Our Spirit
“The spirit, who we truly are, is the larger part of us. The soul – which some people understand is interchangeable with the word spirit – the soul is the smaller part [of spirit] that chooses to experience this life, and it is what we would consider your personality in each different life. It has the knowledge of what you are looking to experience. And so the soul is part of the spirit and part of the human. Is that understood?”
–The Council
Before Oksana asked her question, Cynthia and I were among those who thought the words ‘soul’ and ‘spirit’ were more or less interchangeable. Prior to our session on this question, Cynthia was already getting information from The Council on this subject that started us thinking there might be more of a difference than we suspected. Their opening statement above makes it pretty clear they perceive the soul as a distinct aspect of spirit, not the same as spirit, but some of the other things they mentioned weren’t as obvious.

Law of Attraction for Skeptics – Consider the Possibility
During a recent session with The Council they seemed concerned many people question the validity of the law of attraction and don’t understand how to use it to their advantage. The information in this post is intended to help you experience the validity of the law of attraction even of you’re skeptical that it exists. It’s also intended to show you how the law of attraction can improve your life even if you don’t think it can.
Law of Attraction Makes it to Primetime
After the widely popular release of The Secret, a 2006 film and a 2007 book about the law of attraction that received a lot of attention in the media, and some bestselling books on this subject by Esther and Jerry Hicks, the law of attraction seems to have found a place in popular culture. Amazon.com recently listed over 1,000 books on the subject, including The Complete Idiot’s Guide to The Law of Attraction. But The Council says there’s a lot of misunderstanding about the law of attraction (LOA).

A Broken Sacred Contract and How to Move On
This post is inspired by a question for The Council from Chris who asks how to move on when someone she feels she was meant to spend her life with broke a sacred contract by leaving. She also asks if it’s possible to find another partner under the circumstances.
Sacred Contracts
The Council observes that souls frequently agree to come into physical bodies during the same lifetime and help each other in their physical lives, but the Council isn’t inclined to understand these agreements as binding sacred contracts, as implied by Chris’s question. The Council believes the idea of an unchangeable binding sacred contract goes against one of the most important principles in all of creation: the free will that all humans, all souls, all spirit is given by our creator to choose, in any moment, from an infinite variety of possibilities. The Council’s idea of a sacred contract is the agreement each soul makes to unconditionally love the part of itself that comes to experience life in a physical body.
