Ask The Council

What will you ask Spirit?

What Message Can I Give My Children?

This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Wendy, who asks what spiritual gifts her children have in this lifetime and what they’ve come into this reality to do.

The Council says if the older son continues on the path of meditation and spiritual growth that Wendy has encouraged him on, he’ll work with people who have emotional problems.

The Council encourages Wendy’s older son to read, The Littlest Angel, by Charles Tazewell, about angels before they come to this life on the Earth path and how they choose the people who’ll be around them. And according to what the angel wishes to learn, other spirits agree to fill that role for them, whether it’s a good role or a difficult one. And The Council encourages Wendy to get her older son to talk about this book.

The Council says in Wendy’s role as mother, it’s good if she can ask her eldest son throughout the week who he’s spoken to, perhaps what games he’s played, and  what his friends talk to him about. Wendy will see he’s interested in how his friends’ minds work. If his friends have problems, he may sometimes discuss this with Wendy to get advice he can pass along to them.

The Council says if Wendy’s older son doesn’t choose to help people with emotional problems, he might go in the direction of medical research, which is something he did in another lifetime, working with plants and understanding how they help the body and the mind. Have plants in your home and casually explain their names to him and what they’re reputed to be able to do.

As your older son develops, there will be people he meets that will pull him away from the path he was on, but there’s no need for Wendy to worry about this. She should always be available to talk about what’s going on in his life. If he chooses the more difficult path, he’ll come back to one of the two paths he’s shown interest in. But this more difficult path will introduce him to spirits that have agreed to show him more drama and difficulty so he could learn this and have a greater understanding when he returns to the path he originally chose. This will occur when your oldest son is about 16-18 years old.

The younger child will be more into organizing groups and planning events. He has the opportunity to go into politics. There is a choice where he may also go into building homes for the more needy to make life more pleasurable for them. Play with your younger son with anything where he can build so he can awaken to what he wishes to experience in this lifetime.

The Council says Wendy was an oracle and a shaman with American Indians in a previous lifetime. She would have images of what the tribe should do and she could see future events. Your older son in your current lifetime was part of your tribe in this past lifetime. That’s why in your current lifetime you’d like him to meditate, as it was done in this American Indian lifetime. In that past life you taught your son about having visions, medicine, and about the great spirit.

Am I Working Through a Past Life Connection with My Boss?

This post answers questions for The Council from an Anonymous reader who has a tumultuous relationship with their boss an wants to know if they have a past life connection with this person and they’re trying to work through it?

The Council sees a past life in England where you were both friends, running a general store, and having mistrust for one another. What you’re trying to accomplish in your current lifetime is to work together, but with a different kind of understanding.

Can you speak honestly with your boss the way you weren’t able to in the lifetime in England. If you’re uncomfortable how you’re being treated in your current life or there’s misunderstandings, it’s for your growth to speak up about these things. Your boss, if he wishes to grow spiritually, has to get to a place where he listens and tries to understand your point of view. There’s lots of communication the two of you wish to work out in your current relationship.

Anonymous asks why their boss insists on giving them work while they’re on vacation. The Council asks if you’re able to speak to your boss about this. And The Council asks if Anonymous respects themself enough to put up boundaries to let their boss know that when you’re on vacation, you won’t be available to do this work? Can you trust in what you deserve and make these boundaries? As long as you’re unable to give voice to these difficulties, they will continue.

Anonymous says they’ve tried to use a pendulum to get answers, but sometimes it doesn’t seem accurate and they want to know if this is a valid way to get insight? The Council says you’re able to get the pendulum to give the answer you want by using your mind and your energy.

The Council says when you want answers, the best way is to sit quietly and think of the problem, then let the problem go. When you can sit quietly and relax into the silence, the answers to your problem will come to you.

Listen to the entire 5-minute audio recording of our session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Anonymous and the rest of us, and let us know what you feel about it.

If a Soul Chooses a Difficult Life, Does the Soul Enjoy Suffering?

This post answers questions for The Council from a reader who goes by the name, ImportantOrNotBlog, which are based on an earlier post titled, Some Interesting Questions About Spirit. ImportantOrNotBlog asks if a soul chooses a life of difficulty full of pain and hardship, does that mean the soul enjoys suffering?

The Council says when you choose, as spirit, whatever you choose before you come into your current reality, you always think you’re a spirit and you’ll know how to handle whatever it is you’ve chosen. But when you come into your reality, you forget how to handle what you’ve chosen and how to turn it towards love.

The purpose of of forgetting is to learn how to work with whatever you’ve chosen and be able to turn it around. When you do this, there is major soul growth. This process can be very difficult for some people. But the more you can accept the hardship you’ve chosen, and show patience, and learn to work with your situation and slowly see it improve, you’ll feel stronger about yourself knowing no matter what the obstacle you’ve created for yourself, you’re working on it.

It’s not that the soul enjoys suffering. It’s important to remember who you truly are as a spiritual being in a physical body. As you’re able to bring the feeling of spirit into your physical reality, the easier it will be for you to experience positive changes.

The Council points out that sometimes there are spiritual contracts to teach people around you by your example because in other lifetimes these people didn’t have the compassion you’re learning in this lifetime. Or maybe the people around you were sick in another lifetime and you took care of them, and now they want to experience the other side of the coin and they choose to care for someone in this lifetime.

There’s a lot going on with people who are experiencing difficulties, and these difficulties aren’t only for the person experiencing them, because these people have agreed with the others around them how each one of them will grow from these difficulties. It’s a great blessing for everyone involved with these difficulties to go through them concentrating on compassion and love.

ImportantOrNotBlog says they understand difficult situations are for soul growth, but they ask, to what end? The Council says there isn’t any end, there’s just growth. When you return to spirit and you see the lives you’ve touched, you want to do more. And so you create lives where you have the opportunity to do more so you grow and the people in your life grow. And the more love you bring into your reality, the less suffering there will be.

ImportantOrNotBlog asks The Council if souls exist at different levels? The Council says if you mean is one soul smarter than the other, they respond that in some lifetimes the answer is yes and in some lifetimes the answer is no, but we’re all growing and everyone grows at their own pace. We’re all trying to evolve into spirit so everyone can experience love.

ImportantOrNotBlog closes by asking if soul growth helps the soul get to a higher spiritual level? The Council says they don’t feel comfortable with the word, level, but they say soul growth will take you to a higher spiritual understanding. It brings more love into your world and you grow. And with this love, as it grows within you, you want to share this love, and you’re in a great hurry to get back into another lifetime so you can stretch that love and grow more from it. And you want to put this love into another reality so others can feel this love and grow from it.

Listen to the entire 7-minute audio recording of our session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for ImportantOrNotBlog and the rest of us, and let us know what you feel about this guidance.

When Will My First Child Be Born?

This post answers a question for The Council from a reader named Kimberly, who asks simply when she’ll give birth to her first child?

The Council begins by saying they’re not fortune tellers and they can’t tell Kimberly when and if a birth will happen because she’s the creator of her life. They ask what Kimberly is doing to create this birth in her reality? Where are her thoughts?

When there’s a great desire, the inner work is first needed. Does Kimberly see this birth in her mind? Do you take time each day to envision this birth? Do you see yourself going to a doctor and getting the wonderful news you’re pregnant? Do you see yourself giving birth? Can you see yourself holding your child?

This work, as simple as it sounds, is what helps you create your life on the inner level. And once you see and feel this birth on an inner level, you’re able to bring this birth into your current reality. This work begins with your thoughts.

How are you preparing for this child? Are you living in an atmosphere of hope and love for this child? Are you in the right home for your child? Do you have a good relationship with a partner? Is this a good time financially for the birth of a child? As you look at these things you prepare each section of your life to welcome a new life.

The Council sees two spirits you have made a soul agreement with and they are ready to come into your life as your children. It was your desire when this agreement was being planned in spirit to be totally ready to give these children a happy home to come into. Is your life now where you want it to be for these children? Do you think it would be fulfilling for you to bring these children into your life now?

While there are two souls ready to be born, it wasn’t decided in spirit if they’d come one at at time, or if you’d give birth to twins. The Council advises Kimberly to do the inner work involved to bring this child or these children into her life, and it will happen.

The issue holding up the children from being born is that you wanted a perfect atmosphere to begin this life or lives and then see where these children’s lives go from there. If they create the challenges they’ve set up for themselves, will they be able to handle these challenges? Will they be in a place of growing spiritually, which these children wanted?

Prepare for the birth of these children. Know this birth or births will happen. Know this birth or births are planned, but it was also planned that you’d create a harmonious home.

Listen to our entire 5-minute session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Kimberly and the rest of us, and let us know how you feel about it.

What Past and Present Life Choices Cause Chronic Pain?

This post answers questions for The Council from a reader who goes by the name, InDespair, who says The Council mentions (in a different post) that we choose chronic pain to heal our beliefs from past lives that we’ve chosen to bring into our current lifetime. And InDespair asks, “What beliefs from a past life or lives would cause us to choose enduring chronic pain in our current life.”

The Council begins by saying that chronic pain isn’t always brought in from another lifetime. Sometimes it’s just an experience that’s wanted in your current life.

In another lifetime perhaps you’ve seen someone suffering and didn’t understand it, or didn’t show compassion and help the person who was experiencing it. You may choose to experience this chronic pain in this lifetime so you have more understanding of it, and going forward in this life and future lives, you’ll bring more love to any situation where suffering is involved.

Many people suffer sometimes and they wonder why, and question what they’ve done to deserve this suffering. The Council says they’ve come into this lifetime to have the people around them learn patience and compassion and to understand what you are going through. This pain is chosen to help another soul or family of souls learn from your suffering.

The choice to go through extreme pain, hardships, or anything difficult is always the choice of the individual. Each person planning their reality in spirit will plan what they desire to experience, or they’ll experience something to help another soul go through suffering and have more understanding of it. The experience of suffering is never something  that’s forced on an individual.

Some people choose suffering to learn patience and love and to have some understanding of this experience. Many souls choose suffering to teach others, and there’s still learning on your part as you go through this. Is there a wish to turn the suffering around and heal it?

Perhaps you’ve agreed with other spirits that want to learn about someone going through pain and suffering, and you’ll tell them that you’ll go through this suffering for them. And they’ll learn from this to give you such love and understanding that you’ll have the strength and understanding to turn the suffering around and realize that love conquers everything.

The Council says you could’ve experienced pain in a prior life and didn’t know how to change it and make it better. And you wish to go through this pain in your current life to try and change it this time around. Sometimes in other lifetimes the others around you had this pain and you didn’t understand it or didn’t have patience for it. And so you want to experience this pain in your current lifetime to bring in more love and understanding about this.

The Council says it’s up to the individual whether they choose to heal this pain they’ve chosen. Many times a person will heal this pain when the spirit of another person has learned what it needs to learn from this suffering.

Bob asked The Council what’s in it for the person who chooses to experience chronic pain their whole life so others can have the experience of this. The Council says you are showing love to others by helping them experience what they need to learn and grow. In spirit when someone wishes to learn about suffering, and someone volunteers to go through this so others can experience it, it’s because we all love one another. You volunteer to go through this out of love for these people, even if this love isn’t conscious on a human level. And there’s always spiritual growth involved, even if the person going through the suffering isn’t aware of this growth at the time they’re experiencing it.

The Council say sometimes the person going through suffering becomes wiser about being a spirit in a physical body, having choices, and having the power to create in your life what’s necessary for you to also grow. It’s always a two-way street. Everyone learns from the experience of suffering. That’s the plan.

Listen to our entire 8-minute session with The Council to hear all their guidance for InDespair and the rest of us, and let us know how you feel about it.

Questions About Spiritual Enlightenment

This post answers questions about spiritual enlightenment from a reader named SoulPeace. SoulPeace has been reading about Buddhist culture lately and is drawn to the subjects of spiritual growth, human reincarnation, and lesson learning.

The Council says this is a big step in itself because SoulPeace has opened to enlightenment and knowledge that will help them move forward in their current lifetime and on an easier path.

SoulPeace asks The Council if we’re able to learn our lessons without being born on the Earth path? The Council says we need an Earth body to learn what we desire to learn when we choose to be born in a physical body. We come to Earth to learn about emotions.

There are other realities besides Earth where you experience only the energy shifts within you. You learn with your thoughts: both positive and negative. You don’t need a physical body.

The main reason we come to Earth is there is so much we desire to learn where we need a physical body to learn it. In other realities we can exist only as energy or thought forms and we are also able to learn in these non-physical realities.

When you’re back home in spirit, that is another reality. And many choose while in spirit to help people who choose to live in the Earth reality, and this is another place where you learn. You’re able to learn lessons without being born into a physical body, but these lessons are different from the ones you learn when you’ve chosen to be born in a physical body.

SoulPeace asked The Council how we can achieve freedom from being born into an Earth body and achieve moksha or nirvana (freedom from death and rebirth). The Council says every time you finish an incarnation it’s always your choice whether to come back in an Earth body or remain in spirit and not come back.

The Council says in spirit we always have the desire to come back and learn something on the Earth path. There’s always a new goal; something else that wants to be experienced.

If you decide not to come back, you’d remain in spirit and you’d learn through the experience of others who do come back. You’ll tap into their thoughts and feelings and continue learning that way. And sometimes by doing this, it strikes a chord in you where you think about trying the Earth path again.

SoulPeace closes by saying they’re trying to find peace for themselves and wants to know where to begin in order to experience this. The Council says you begin by knowing you are a spirit within your physical body that you’ve created. They say to see the things you’ve created in this life that helps you experience love and joy, and to follow that feeling and do more of these things.

As you experience one joy and it leads you to another and another, you will find what you planned to experience when you were in spirit before being born into your physical body. Know that your job is to experience love and joy and compassion for others, and the rest will all fall into place.

Listen to our entire 6-minute session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for SoulPeace and the rest of us, and let us know how you feel about it.

Moving Past Struggles Over an Abortion

This post is inspired by an anonymous reader who struggles to forgive herself for having an abortion. She sees this as an opportunity for spiritual growth, but she gets stuck and asks The Council how she can move past the regrets she experiences. She believes healing will come if she’s able to have another child, but she’s worried her negativity from her abortion is preventing her from getting pregnant. Anonymous asks The Council if there’s anything she needs to do before she’s able to conceive again.

The Council sees that Anonymous carries guilt with her about her abortion and they remind her and all women who experience a terminated pregnancy there’s no need for this guilt. All pregnancies are pre-planned in spirit. She and the soul of this child wanted to experience this. The Council says if she were in school she’d received an A+ for following this challenge she and the child picked to experience and she’s promoted to the next level. They add that the next level is for feeling love for herself and being proud of what she’s done, and proud for the soul of this child that she allowed it to experience what it wanted.

The Council sees Anonymous’s desire for another child and they remind her of the difficulty creating what she desires when her vibration isn’t in one of joy. They suggest thinking positively and changing how she thinks about her abortion: get to a place where she can see she created the abortion and if it’s her desire, she doesn’t need to experience it again.

Moving forward The Council suggests Anonymous do whatever she can to get to a joyful place. She can do this by finding memories that make her laugh or watching movies that make her laugh and raise her vibration. Begin to think of a new child and the life she can offer it.

The Council asks Anonymous to practice a meditation that concentrates on her heart center. At first see a tiny light within her heart. And as she experiences more joy this light will grow. This is the light of her creation. As this light becomes brighter and brighter it opens the door to whatever she desires.

The Council recommends that in this light Anonymous bring what she wishes to create into her mind and into her feelings. Feel the love and then she’ll be able to move forward and have another child if that’s her desire. Her purpose now is to work on her heart chakra and make the light and the feeling within it grow.

Listen to our entire 7-minute session with The Council to hear all their guidance for Anonymous and the rest of us, and let us know what you think.

Challenges, Suicide, and Spiritual Growth

This post is inspired by a reader named Cait, who says she thinks about ending her life every day because it’s so painful, and she asks The Council if she’s able to break a pre-birth contract she made in spirit once her incarnation has begun.

Cait begins by asking The Council, what if the path your soul chose to achieve spiritual growth actually inhibits your spiritual growth? And The Council says this is never the case. They say your spirit works out whatever challenges it wants to meet while it’s in the physical body, and while this can seem difficult from a human point of view, your spirit knows exactly why it has chosen what it has chosen and what it is trying to accomplish.

The Council says when you begin to accept you are spirit in a physical body and believe you can learn with less difficulty, and can focus on the way you wish your life to be rather than the way it is, this is the beginning of change. You always have the power to turn your situation around. When you plan in spirit whatever you want to experience, it isn’t written in stone. You create every minute of every day, and so you can create something new.

Cait says she thinks about ending her life every day, and while The Council says there is no judgement in spirit for taking her life, they explain there’s growth she can experience from going through these challenges. And if she chooses to pass on these challenges in this lifetime she’ll be postponing them until she chooses to learn from them in a future lifetime.

Cait comments that her life is harmful to her soul, and The Council replies that her soul will never create circumstances that will harm her spiritually. It creates these situations for her to grow from them, to change them, and to bring love into them.

Cait asks how she can get out of her current challenge without killing herself and The Council advises her to refocus her attention and read as many books as possible on spiritual growth that can teach her who she is as a spiritual being.

Cait finishes her comment by saying her higher self doesn’t appear to care about her or her suffering. And The Council says Cait has no idea the love, caring, and support that spirit has for her if she’ll open up to it, even if she only pretends to feel it at first.

The Council recommends Cait read a book written by the spirit guide, Emmanuel and Pat Rodegast, and the energy from this book will help her turn her life around.

The Council tells Cait she’s come to this feeling of desperation and wanting out on purpose to experience an extreme situation so she can find a better way through this. And The Council says she will find it.

Listen to the entire 11-minute recording of our session with The Council to hear first hand all their guidance for Cait and anyone else who’s having difficulty navigating their current circumstances and is looking for a better way to experience them.

Why Must I Go Through Hardships for My Soul to Grow?

This post is about a question from Asher who asks why it’s necessary to go through hardships, troubles, accidents, pain, loss, and more in order for his soul to grow? Asher wishes he could enroll in a cosmic school where spiritual growth is achieved through positive experience.

The Council says it isn’t necessary to go through hardships. They say they’re a choice. They ask Asher if he knows it wasn’t his intention to create a life he finds difficult. His intention was to create interesting experiences, and then by remembering who he is as a spiritual being and looking at these experiences in a more loving way, they become more loving and much easier to experience.

When Bob asks why Asher doesn’t seem to feel this love, The Council says it’s because he doesn’t understand his purpose for experiencing these challenges and who he is as a spiritual being. He doesn’t remember he created these experiences so he could have the fun of learning to change them into more loving experiences.

The Council says when we remind ourselves we are spirit in a physical body, we automatically begin to look at our experiences more lovingly, even if it’s difficult in the moment. And they promise as you meet each challenge and bring in the vibration of love, this vibration makes it easier for others to have a similar experience.

Asher says he feels sad that only the soul benefits from these spiritual lessons and not the human. The Council asks Asher if he realizes the spirit, soul, and human are one, and spirit will not grow unless its human part goes through these challenging situations. They say when the spirit grows it’s because our human part has gone though an experience, changed the way we think about it, and learned from this experience.

The Council reminds us there are many good things we’ve chosen to experience and to be grateful, and this will help change your vibration for the better.

The Council says Asher has created these hardships so he can learn how to go through them, experience them, and change them into more loving experiences by thinking better feeling thoughts.

For those of us who have a difficult time believing we are spirit in our physical bodies The Council says this is the #1 reason many spirits have come at this time to make connections and get the message out to remember who you are as spirit. They say even if we just pretend we are spirit, eventually we wonder what this means and understanding gradually becomes possible.

What About the Ego?

Recently we read Anita Moorjani’s bestselling and spiritually uplifting book, Dying To Be Me, on a near death experience (NDE) she had after a 4 year struggle with cancer. We feel so inspired by this book that we did a session with The Council to learn more about NDEs, and we’re in the process of writing a post describing that session.

While working on that post we came across something in the Questions & Answers chapter of Anita’s book on the subject of Ego that we’d like to share here. The subject of Ego often comes up in spiritual discussion groups we attend, and in online discussions, books, and articles on spirituality. There appear to be lots of different beliefs about the ego: what it is, what it isn’t, it’s influence on your spiritual growth, how to deal with it, etc. Anita’s answer to the following question about ego is one of the most satisfying we’ve come across, and feels very much in harmony with what The Council is teaching. For a good understanding of Anita’s answer it may help to have read her book, but we hope you get the idea and find it helpful.

Question for Anita

“Most people on a spiritual path believe that the ego impedes spiritual growth and that we’re supposed to shed the ego. Why aren’t you advocating this?”

Anita’s Answer

“Because if you deny the ego, it will push back against you harder. The more you reject something, the more it fights back for its own survival. But when you can completely love your ego unconditionally and accept it as part of how you express in this life, you’ll no longer have a problem with it. It won’t impede your growth – on the contrary,  it will be an asset.

“We’re all born with an ego – it’s a natural part of who we are here. We’re only completely without it in death. Fighting against this during life only creates more self-judgement. Plus, only when we love our ego unconditionally are we able to accept everyone else’s. This is when it stops being an issue, and your humility and magnificence really shine through.”

—From Dying To Be Me, by Anita Moorjani, p.173, published by Hay House ©2012

If you believe you have an ego that’s interfering with your spiritual growth, Anita appears to be saying that if you practice loving your ego unconditionally you will have a much more spiritually satisfying experience than if you look for ways to minimize your ego. This makes lots of sense to us. In other words, if you’re concerned your ego is causing you problems – spiritually or otherwise – consider the possibility these difficulties are more likely the result of your beliefs about your ego and your attitude towards it than something inherent in the nature of the ego.

Marriage Council-ing

K’s Request for Guidance

This post is a response to K’s request for guidance from The Council on how she can tune into who she really is as a spiritual being so she can experience the purpose of her 22-year relationship with her husband, find her way beyond the pain of their ten years of marriage, and re-connect with the joy of their first eleven years together. Here’s a slightly edited version of K’s request:

“I need some guidance. Let’s see if I can express it a way that makes sense.

“I am in the first stages of getting divorced from a friend of 22 years (10 years married and the father of my son) who I quiet firmly believe came to my life (and I in his) because we had lessons to learn, debts to pay, other unfinished business…something like that.

“Somehow as I try desperately to move on, I often get the feeling that the lessons had to be learned and the challenges were/are there for growth and divorce need not be the solution, at least not after a lot has been cleared out recently.

“Is there a way I can tune in more to my real self, my soul, and remember what the purpose of this marriage was, and what my path ahead is beyond the pain? We both care for each other, but somehow…something that seemed flawless for 11 years before, never worked from the minute we got married. It almost got jinxed and we took turns in not being able to get out of negative thinking to face problems head on.

“Any thoughts on the mystery our life has been and some hints of where it needs to go for the two individual souls? Tall order…huh? Thanks a lot.”
