Are Some Events Pre-Planned In Spirit More Likely To Happen Than Others?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Mari.
Mari: I’ve read in some books on the afterlife and reincarnation that certain important events in life are pre-planned, with a high probability of happening. For example, marrying a particular person, going to a particular school, having a child, or having certain disabilities. And no matter which way you go, that event will most likely occur. Other events are supposedly pre-planned only as possibilities.
Council: Your higher self always knows what you pre-plan and what you want to experience. There are many times when you’re setting up a new life that you pick souls you worked with and learned with before. You’d choose one as a husband, a wife, a brother, or a mother. There are times you want them in your life for a while, and you’ll set that up, learn what’s needed, and then move on.
There are times when you may make an agreement with a soul where you say, Let’s see how our life goes. Let’s see what I create and what you create, and is it a meeting where we’ll become friends and experience more, or is it just a quick meeting and you move on? By doing it this way you don’t know what you’re going to create, and so you have the ability to go into this relationship with this spirit, or turn and go on another path. There are some relationships where it’s very positive, we know each other before, and let’s do it again. What is it that you want to learn? What is it that I want to learn? We’ll support each other in this. And there are other relationships where you just see how it goes.
The freedom is always yours. Even if you decide to recreate something you set up, your higher self knows if you’re learning what you want to learn, if you’re having a good time, and if you’re achieving what you wanted to achieve. You’ll always be able to pick the direction you go in, even if you don’t consciously know that the choice was yours to do this or to do that and to have this experience.
Bob: So it sounds like you’re agreeing with Mari when she says you can pre-plan an event that has a high probability of happening.
Council: Yes
Bob: And you’re saying even though it does have a high probability of happening, you have the free will to change that.
Council: You always have free will. Every day of your life you can connect with the other spirit, with their higher self and your higher self, and you’ll know this is the way we want it to go. Or let’s not go this way. Let’s change this and change that. You’re always in connection with these other spirits.
Bob: And it sounds like you’re also saying that you can pre-plan possibilities that aren’t necessarily likely or unlikely to happen, and you determine at the time you’re living what you pre-planned in that life whether you want to follow that path or not.
Council: Exactly. The choice is always yours.
Mari: You’ve indicated in many places that you have to believe in something for it to occur.
Bob: Can you comment on that?
Council: You can’t believe in something you don’t remember that you’re creating in spirit. You don’t have to believe it because your higher self and the other person’s higher self will work to make this happen. But if it’s something you want in your life, like a new job or a new partner, it always helps to believe you want it and it’s coming to you. There are many things you won’t remember that you have planned, but your higher self will take you there. When it’s something you consciously want, it always works much better if you believe you can have it.
Bob: You’re also saying that even if you don’t consciously believe in something, it can still occur.
Council: Yes, it can. Believe in the power of your higher self because it’s you. You’re the only one who’s creating in your reality.

Who Decides if We Return to Physical Reality After a Near Death Experience?
This post answers a very interesting question from a reader named, Darla, who publishes the entertaining and insightful blog, She’s A Maineiac. Darla says, Over the years I’ve read and heard about hundreds of near-death experiences (NDEs). Some of these people who’ve had an NDE say when they’re on the other side a voice gives them an option to stay in spirit or go back to their life on Earth. Others who’ve had an NDE say they beg to stay in such a blissful place full of love, but were “forced” to come back to their life on Earth and suddenly end up back in their physical bodies. Darla asks, How much free will do we have once we cross over to spirit?
The Council says you always have free will. Bob asks The Council how they explain the people who wanted to remain in a blissful place full of love, but were forced to come back to their life on Earth.
The Council says when you’re in the process of crossing over to spirit, this voice you hear giving you the option to stay or come back to Earth is the voice of your higher self, but you as a human being are still in the personality of the life you’re living on Earth. You prefer to stay in spirit because it feels so wonderful. But your higher self knows what you planned for your life, and what needs to be accomplished, and how you set that up to go through whatever you’re going through. This is the reason some people are told by their higher self they have to go back to Earth.
The Council says the higher self and the personality self are the same being. These people who say, I was forced to come back into my body and continue my life on Earth, this was the voice of their higher self who knew everything they had planned, and knew it was time to return to physical life so they could achieve that plan. You still have free will. The part of you that is your higher self is telling the part of you that remains in physical reality to return to that reality because dying right now isn’t what you planned for this life.
When The Council asks Bob if he understands what they’re saying, he attempts to clarify. Bob says when Darla asks how much free will we have once we cross over to spiritual reality, The Council is saying that the aspect of ourself that’s our higher self has free will, but to the aspect of ourselves that remains in our personality, it may seem that this part doesn’t have the free will that our higher self has. The Council says this is correct. Your higher self and your personality self are two aspects of the same entity.
Darla asks who is ultimately in charge of whether we come back to life on Earth or not. Bob responds by saying The Council already said the higher self is in charge. The Council adds that so many people separate their higher self from who they are, like when they perceive the higher self is telling them they have to do this or that. But your higher self is you. No one else is forcing you to do something you don’t want to do. No one else is making the decision to return to physical reality. Your higher self knows the whole plan you have for your current life on Earth. When your higher self tells you that you have to return to physical reality, it’s because that’s what you wanted.
Darla asks if it’s our higher self, or a guide, or God that makes this decision about whether we return to physical reality or not. The Council says it’s your higher self. You make all the decisions.
The Council suggests everyone think about what they’re saying here and try to understand it. Meditate on it and you’ll get more information about it.

Is Loud Rock ‘N Roll Music Bad for Children?
This post answers questions for The Council from an anonymous reader who asks if loud rock ‘n roll music is bad for our souls and bad for our children? They add that this is a serious question. They say we don’t listen to much pop music in our house, but my partner will let our children listen to hard rock.
The Council asks if Anonymous sees this brings their children enjoyment? Are they happy while listening to this music? That is what you need to notice. What do you see happening when they listen to this music? We don’t see anything negative going on here and being in a state of fear about what kind of music your children listen to isn’t necessary. It will change as time passes. If you see them enjoying this music, why would you want to take that away from them?
Anonymous says the lyrics are fine, even poetic, but I have a hard time believing it’s good for them physiologically or spiritually. It’s loud and aggressive and they say the kids love it. Am I overreacting?
The Council says you’re here to experience different things in your life and it’s not for us to tell you to enjoy this and don’t enjoy that. You have free will. Listen with an open mind and then make up your own mind. That’s your free will.
Anonymous closes by asking The Council what type of music they enjoy? They say we love everything. Even loud rock ‘n roll music.

Who’s in Charge of This Lesson Learning?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Tiki, after she read our post, What Happens When a Soul Learns all its Lessons? Tiki asks who’s in charge of this lesson learning and coming back into a physical life? The Council says if you’ve been following our teachings you know you’re in charge. You decide when you come back. You are the creator of every single thing that happens in your life, in your after-life, and in all of your lives.
The Council says you are your higher self. The personality you inhabit in this reality is what you’ve created while you were your higher self in spirit. You created this person, the color of your hair, the color of your eyes, what parents you have, where you live, and how you live. You’ve created all of that.
She says she understands we come back to learn lessons, but why? The Council says we don’t always come back to learn lessons. One hundred percent of the time we come back into physical reality just to have fun. We come back to see what we’re going to create. We’re going to live our lives and everything we experience, whether it’s a challenge or fun. We just want to go through the experience. It’s like playing a game or being in a play on stage. There are times when there are a few things you want to learn, but most of the time you come into this reality to sort of run around, have fun, and see what you create and how you handle it.
We always learn. There’s no way you can go through life and not learn. Whether it’s something you pick to learn, or sometimes you just jump in and live your life and see what experience you can have. When you transition into spirit again you look at all these experiences and process what you think you’ve learned, or think about how you’d handle these experiences differently, or consider you did a great job. Coming into your reality is for the purpose of creation. You are the creator and that’s what you like to do.
Tiki asks who says this is the way it is? Who made up these rules? The Council says you made up the rules. You said this is the way you want to live this life. Spirit wants to expand. Spirit wants to live with other spirits, bounce off each other, and make up a story you live through. Life is just an experience. There aren’t any rules how you do it. You have free will. You come back into a reality you create when you’re ready. You never go into any reality that you don’t want. This is how you learn and expand. When we’re in spirit we want to help others expand and help them with whatever they’re going through. It’s all a wonderful game.
Tiki asks, for those people who say God made up these rules, where did they learn this from? The Council says you are God and you are the Creator. Your higher self is connected to every other soul that exists. As part of a mass agreement everyone wanted to expand, everyone wanted to have fun, and everyone wanted to learn. Everyone wanted to create many lives in our current reality as well as other realities. Everyone wanted to bounce around all over the place. You make the rules. You decide when and how things will happen. And there’s no pressure from anyone else, like a God you think will help you or punish you.
Tiki asks where this game of coming back to our physical reality started? The Council says everyone agreed they wanted to come back. It’s not so much you wanted to come back as you wanted to live life again. Let’s see what we create this time around. We’ll meet at such and such a place. Or maybe I won’t see you in this life, but I’ll see you in the next life. Or let’s create something we’ve created before. It’s all up to you.

How Can We Be Individual and One at the Same Time?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Kaitlin, who’s read a lot about spirit and near-death experiences, and she notices what she reads is often contradictory. The Council says isn’t it wonderful that different people in our reality have different opinions and contradict each other? And they ask if we can see how wonderful our free will is?
Kaitlin says she understands we are eternal souls and she wonders what part of our personality is eternal? The Council says every personality from every life you’re living is part of who you are in spirit and will always be with you. It’s like your memories coming with you when you transition back into spirit. All the things you love, all the things you’re interested in, and even the things you feared and your challenges come with you into spirit, but you see these things from a totally different perspective in spirit.
Kaitlin’s read we’re eternal souls, we’re all one, and this life is like a dream. It feels real while we’re here in a physical body, but when we die, that’s the real reality. And in spirit we’ll reach a point where we merge with source and realize we were never separate in the first place.
The Council agrees you are never separate from source. Every lifetime and every reality feels real to us while we’re in them so we can have the experience we’ve created. And when you return to spirit it all feels like a dream. When you come from the divine part of you into the human part of you, they are both real. Every incarnation is real. The physical part is real. This physical part is what’s needed to get you through whatever experiences you choose.
Kaitlin asks how we can be individual and one at the same time? How are we eternal? And why do people say we’ll reach a point when we realize there was only ever one of us? The Council says when you know you’re truly God and that God is within you in every life you choose to live and every experience you wish to have, you take the part of source or God with you into your physical life. You’re still connected to source. You’re still connected to God energy.
As you create a new personality, the God part of you comes along for the ride to have these experiences you’ve chosen. Each person is part of source, is part of God. The greater part of who you are still remains in the spirit world, still remains as God. Picture the Sun as the source and each of the Sun’s rays is a different person and a different lifetime, but you’re all coming from source. When you feel you’ve learned everything you need to learn, you can return to source, be part of it, and no longer come forward until you feel the need.
When we experience ourselves as one with everything, we can experience every lifetime that everyone has ever gone through. We have all the knowledge of everything that’s ever happened. This is the part of us that’s one. We’re able to feel and learn from every other part of source that comes forward. When we wish to have our own personal journey we send out a piece of ourselves to experience that journey. And as we return to source, all the others can learn from us also.
Kaitlin says she’s read we are souls that incarnate into humans who have their own separate personalities that are violent and fear-based. The Council says it’s important to know everyone has a goal to accomplish. As a soul with a divine source you can choose any goal. When you experience coming into your human body you can choose to be violent as a challenge to turn this violence around. If you choose to come into a human body to understand fear, this fear is created by you to understand it and turn it around. It’s not a terrible thing to come into a body and be violent or fearful. You’re learning what this particular challenge is or you’re helping other souls to learn this.
Kaitlin asks, or is life all love and everything is energy and nothing is actually physical. The Council says we are all love. When we incarnate into a life as a human we experience the physical, but we’re also still energy. We’re energy that’s taken on the form of a physical body that’s necessary for us to experience what we’ve asked to experience in this lifetime. When you remove yourself from your body, you’re light, you’re love, and you’re energy. When you incarnate into a body, you’re squeezing a small part of who you are as spirit into this body.
The Council closes with a reminder to keep thinking and keep expanding your mind. Put love into everything you come across because that’s what called you here.

Comparing Ideas of Abraham and Robert Schwartz on Learning
This post answers questions from a reader named, Lindsay, who’s reading Your Soul’s Gift, by Robert Schwartz and really enjoying it. Before reading this book she was reading Abraham as channeled by Esther Hicks, and was having difficulty reconciling these two points of view. Abraham says you can be, do, or have anything you desire, and Rob talks about a spiritual pre-life plan that includes suffering to help you learn and grow.
The Council begins by saying you don’t pre-plan every minute of your life while you’re in spirit. You plan some lessons you want to learn, and some of these are very pleasant and some are challenging. If you’ve chosen a lesson that causes a lot of pain and suffering, you have the free will to change this spiritual plan while you’re in human form.
Abraham says you can be, do, or have anything you want in this life and The Council agrees. They also say this can sometimes take a lot of work and focus. Many people have problems doing this because they figure if they focus for a day or a week that’s enough to change things. Sometimes it takes a lot more focus and time. During this time you’d be learning patience, researching what you want, and getting into it in more detail.
When you’re in spirit and planning to come into a physical body the challenges you wish to go through as a human are difficult, but in the spirit world you think you can handle this. You think, let me see how I can turn this situation around and bring more love into it. And we in spirit, guide you any way we can to help you get through whatever it is you want to learn. In your human form things can be challenging, but in your spiritual form you are learning and growing. When you return to spirit you’ll be able to bring what you’ve learned back with you and all spirits will learn from it.
Robert Schwartz’s books deal with why we pick challenging experiences, what we can learn from them, and how these experiences will affect the people around us. Abraham is lighter. He says you’re in control and you can change your life. Just imagine what you want, see it, feel it, and you can create it. Both of these points of view work, but they are coming from different directions.
Not everyone plans to suffer through their life and not everyone plans to be happy all the time. Life is about experiences. Everything you go through, whether it’s a happy life or a challenging life, is experience to learn and grow from.
When you choose an experience that’s difficult and you’re in pain, you can change this by meditating and remembering who you truly are as a spiritual being. You have all the tools you need to get through this life and change it. If you want a difficult experience there’s a way to get through it. Meditate on this and see your situation the way you want it to be.
The purpose of Robert Schwartz’s books are to demonstrate more understanding of why people suffer. People who are suffering want answers. They ask why they’re suffering and why are they going through what they’re going through. Robert Schwartz sheds light on this. His information is very important to the people who need to understand why life is so difficult for them when they think they would never chose to create these difficulties.
When you read some of Robert’s stories you begin to realize they make sense. At one time or another, in one of your many lifetimes, you will have challenges. It will be difficult for you, but it’s because you wished to experience these challenges.

A Past Life Son Comes Back as a Current Life Lover
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Eva, who says I met the love of her life four years ago. We were together for two months and then he told me he wasn’t sure he could be in a romantic relationship with me. Eva was devastated. After waiting five months for something to change she decided to marry someone else.
The Council says in a past life in early London, Eva was married to a man she didn’t love and they had a son. When their son was twelve the father moved away for good and took the son with him. The soul of this son who wanted to stay with you in this past life has returned to you in your current life as the man you fell in love with four years ago.
(You may want to pay a little closer attention than is ordinarily necessary in our posts to the relationship details between Eve and her lover, Eva and her husband, past live Eva as a mother, and Eva’s current life lover as her past life son. It may be a little confusing.)
Unconscious memories of the mother-son relationship during the life in London have stayed with this man and led to his developing uncomfortable feelings about being your lover. This man didn’t plan to come into your life as your lover. He wanted to come back to continue the relationship from the life in London as your son, or be someone you’d take care of. This is why he felt unable to remain your lover.
Eva says she wasn’t in love with the man she married, but she felt a deep connection to him and felt they both needed to have a child together. The Council says you pre-planned in spirit to marry your husband and to have children together, but you met this man who was your child during the life in London and that threw things off the track you pre-planned.
One month after Eva married her husband she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl whose light and wisdom has made my husband and I better people. During this pregnancy I started talking again to this man I loved four years ago. After two years of phone calls and emails I had a dream of a little boy that called me Mum. The Council says this dream is a memory of her past life in London with her son.
Eva eventually started meeting with her lover which led to her getting pregnant by him after two months. (During this time she saw a picture of him as a child and found the similarity to the boy in her dream striking.) At first I told my husband I was pregnant with my lover’s baby and I intended to have the child. The father of the child told me he didn’t want me to have it because I was still married to my husband. It was the most difficult time in my life.
The Council says we always have the free will to choose the direction our life takes regardless of what we pre-planned in spirit, and in Eva and her lover’s case the pre-planning didn’t work out. The soul who was Eva’s child in London had pre-planned to come back to her in their current life as her child. Instead he came back as her lover.
Eva says she ultimately decided to abort the child because she didn’t want there to be any question of blackmailing the father’s love, her husband was against it, and she wasn’t able to financially support a second child. The Council says the spirit of the child that was aborted agreed to participate in this abortion and it was not the child in Eva’s dream.
Eva says she can’t put into words the feeling of loss she still suffers from aborting this child. The Council says the feeling of this loss is multiplied because of the memory of losing your son in your lifetime in London.
Eva says nevertheless she came back a stronger person. She works as a teacher and now feels unconditional love not only for her daughter, but for all children. Whenever I have the chance to hug my daughter or a child in my classroom I feel the trauma of my abortion lessen. The Council says this is also what she did in the past life in London. After losing your son you helped orphans and in soup kitchens. You’re trying to heal this past life and that’s why you’re so attracted to all children.
The Council advises Eva to reach out to other children. Also she can ask in her meditations and dreams to contact the soul she aborted if this is what she needs to heal. Think about what we’ve shared with you. Eventually as you gain full understanding you’ll be ready to move on from this experience.
The Council closes by saying Eva’s lover still has uncomfortable feelings about being in a romantic relationship with her even though he may have no understanding what these feelings are about. The Council hopes as Eva learns the nature of her past life relationship with her lover she’ll find a way to let go of her romantic attachment to him.

Questions About Creating Other Lifetimes
This post answers some follow-up questions for The Council from a reader named, Hubert, to our post, How Do We Create Probable Selves That Have Different Parents? where we talk about the idea you can create anything you desire. He asks if he chooses to create a reality and he wants certain spirits in that life as family members, are those spirits now bound to participate in that reality simply because he has this desire?
The Council says no spirit is ever bound to participate in a lifetime simply because someone else has the desire for them to be in it. You’d discuss this desire with these individuals while you’re still in spirit and if they wish to participate in that life in order to help you or learn lessons they need to learn, as long as it’s in the direction of what they want to experience they’d agree to be in your life.
These decisions are made in spirit beforehand based on what each spirit wants to learn and if it’s a good fit for them. Consideration is also given to whether you’ve been together in previous lifetimes and you need to work something out or expand on some aspect of what’s already been experienced. If all the souls involved agree in spirit to participate in another lifetime then they would agree that somehow in that life you would meet. Sometimes you know ahead of time when this meeting will occur and sometimes you don’t know.
Hubert says there’s a person he’s calling “J” who he’s somewhat acquainted with and feels a connection to. He asks if he’s shared any lifetimes with her? The Council says there was a lifetime in Ireland that stands out where Hubert had difficulty speaking, had a stutter, and had difficulty pronouncing words so he could be understood. In that lifetime J was a teacher and was very patient with Hubert, helping him to speak and write in order to improve his communication.
Hubert asks if he was to create another lifetime with J as a sibling or a parent, does he create this lifetime on his own or would there be other factors? The Council says everyone creates what they desire and who they want in their life, but it depends on whether J agrees to come into that lifetime again and work with Hubert.
The Council says if J doesn’t want to come into Hubert’s life there are other spirits Hubert has worked with in other lifetimes that would come forward and agree to play the part Hubert wants them to play. The Council adds that if a specific life is desired with J, then the time would come where they both agree on this and create it together.

How Can a Human Walk Away From a Soul Contract?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Eden, who asks for an explanation of soul contracts and how free will allows a human being to walk away from a soul contract that was decided on before being born? Wouldn’t this be going against the wisdom of their soul?
The Council says when a soul contract is made two souls will come together with an important purpose and it’s usually something they’ve done together in one or more lifetimes. No matter what’s going on in their lives, people who’ve agreed to a soul contract will find each other and work together to accomplish this purpose.
Most soul contracts are laid out as follows: you want to learn this thing, I want to learn that thing, and we’ll come together at a certain time in our lives and help each other through whatever is going on in our life. There’s always the agreement if things are happening in a way these souls didn’t expect because of their beliefs or because of what they’ve created in their lives, it’s always agreed you can walk away from a soul contract. You have that free will. No one is ever forced to stay in a soul contract. You have the ability to walk away. And there’s always the agreement that if we can’t accomplish our soul contract in this lifetime, we can do it in another lifetime.
The soul contract can change if you created in your life something different from what you originally intended to create. There’s nothing horrible about breaking a soul contract. It’s always made with the idea of helping each other and both of you learning lessons. Most of the time these soul contracts are fulfilled, but there’s always the free will to walk away.
A soul contract isn’t written in stone. You don’t agree that if you break this contract you’ll suffer forever. The rest of your life won’t be horrible. It’s more like if you can’t get to where you want in love and understanding, you realize there aren’t any endings and this soul contract can be accomplished in another life.
The Council closes by saying they aren’t particularly fond of the word “contract.” They like to think it’s more of an agreement to help each other out. The word contract is so stern. It’s like the devil will come and sue you if you break this contract. It’s an agreement and most people work out that agreement one way or another.

Is There a Lesson in a Friendship with an Old Flame?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader who goes by the initials, PE, who says she confessed her love to a friend a few years ago, but the friend didn’t feel the same way and PE was heartbroken and embarrassed. PE and her friend became distant after this and she let go of her pain over the embarrassment.
Recently this old flame came back into PE’s life and he wants to reignite their friendship by PE spending time with him and his new girlfriend. But when PE spends time with this couple she ends up feeling sad and doesn’t know why. She let go of the feelings she had for this guy and she’s not interested in him romantically any more. PE asks The Council if there’s a purpose or a lesson for her from this situation?
The Council sees PE and the guy she liked planned in spirit before they were born, to be together in this lifetime, but it was also planned if they were unable to find a way to be together romantically, they would at least be friends and be in each other’s life.
If PE is sad when she’s with this guy and his new girlfriend, the best she can do at this point is wish them well, accept the situation, and then take these good wishes into herself so she’s able to find her own partner. As you can be happy for this couple, that happiness will come back to you. If you’re unable to be with this couple for a while, find a way to get comfortable with this, but know that on a soul level you and this guy planned to be in each other’s lives, even if not romantically.
It’s PE’s choice to take the relationship in whatever direction she wants. He found a way to bridge the distance that was created previously and ask for a friendship. He’s following that part of their soul agreement, even if he’s consciously not aware of it. Now it’s up to PE to see what direction she wants to take her life. The Council adds if PE isn’t able to be a friend with this man in this lifetime, they can promise her she’ll have other opportunities in other lifetimes until they work out the relationship.
The Council says when you’re able to change how you see your situation and realize there’s another option that you both chose in spirit, perhaps you’ll feel differently. PE can feel good about telling her friend she loved him because she was following the original agreement. But because you and your friend have free will, it doesn’t always mean what you planned in spirit will come together easily. So you planned another way, which was to remain in each other’s lives, but as friends. Can you get to the place where you’re able to be friends with this man? If not, why?
As difficult as it may be, wish this guy and his new girlfriend well. Send them love. If you don’t feel it, fake it until you can make it happen. When you can truly feel happiness for them, your life will change. The feelings you have will affect your life, not theirs. Work toward feelings of forgiveness for him, for yourself, and for plans that didn’t work out. And know that you made a back-up plan which you still have a chance to follow. And if you’re unable to follow your back-up plan, you’ll be able to do it again in another lifetime.

Why Do People Believe in Divine Retribution for Abortion?
This post answers a question from a reader named, Pakt, in response to a post we published titled, Life Feels Over After An Abortion. Pakt asks why so many people believe there will be divine retribution if you have an abortion when The Council says there isn’t any divine retribution and you won’t be struck down by God.
The Council starts by saying God or whatever you believe in has granted you free will and you will never be punished for what you choose to create in your life. Everything is allowed. You learn from everything you do, either during your current lifetime or when you return to spirit. In spirit you’ll review this life and learn what you’ve gone through, how you handled it, and the lesson is always learned.
The Council says you believe in divine retribution because from almost the beginning of time, man was afraid of this all powerful God, and if you didn’t please this God you’d have to pay. The priests and people in authority made rules that when you don’t follow the law, you’ll suffer. Man made these rules, including the rule that God gave you life and if you ended that life, God would punish you. But The Council says this isn’t the way things are; it’s only the way man believed it would be.
The Council says there is a contract between two or more souls to have a child or to abort the child. This contract allows you, according to what you want to learn, to have the child or abort the child. When you learn there is a gentler God who is only love and not some monster that will punish you if you don’t follow his laws, you’re free to make choices. When you learn you are spirit, when you learn God is love, when you learn everything is allowed, then you’re closer to who you truly are as a spiritual being in a physical body.
The Council says what you believe will show up in your life. If you believe you’ve done something horrible, you’ll find ways to punish yourself. There isn’t any God that will punish you for what you’ve done. You believe God will punish you because you’ve been taught this in other lifetimes and your current lifetime, and you’ll believe this until you find the truth that works for you.

Is Human Abortion a Violation of Nature?
This post answers questions from a reader named, Pakt, who asks The Council if abortion among humans is a violation of nature because Pakt is unable to find evidence of animals aborting their pregnancies.
The Council says animals can naturally abort their babies when they aren’t getting the proper nutrition or if there’s something wrong with the fetus. Animals have the ability to know when a baby is born sick or hindered in some way and will end the life of this baby by eating them. Then the soul of this baby animal will go on to live other lives, like the soul of a human. The Council says abortion is a soul to soul agreement, not a violation of nature.
Pakt quotes The Council saying, in the case of abortion you’re giving love to a spirit that wanted to have this experience. Pakt says this doesn’t resonate with them, but they wish it did and asks, aren’t we killing a body?
The Council says we’re freeing the spirit from this body because this is something that is wanted and agreed upon before coming into this reality. The spirit had no intention of fulfilling a whole lifetime in this reality and chose to end their life. So it’s not like you’re killing a body. You’re giving a gift to the spirit and to yourself because it is exactly the way it was planned.
Pakt (the recording incorrectly says Maria) asks if abortion means we’re playing God. The Council says we are God, and that’s what you fail to remember. God is within each one of us. You are spirits and many of you don’t understand this because you’ve forgotten what it’s like to be without a physical body, which is your true nature. You are so much more than your physical body.
We have the free will to do whatever we want with our created body and nothing happens that you don’t want. You create everything you experience. Whether you consciously remember or not, you are being led by spirit. It’s trying to get you to fulfill all the things you line up on your bucket list before you came into this physical reality.
Pakt (again the recording incorrectly says Maria) asks The Council to explain examples of different lessons a spirit may want to learn from being part of an abortion.
The Council say sometimes a spirit just wants to have the physical experience of being in the womb, but doesn’t want to go through a whole life. Sometimes a mother wants to feel pregnant, but doesn’t want the child at that particular time. Sometimes you have an abortion to teach others around you what it’s like for someone in the family or a friend to loose a child.
There are some people who’ve lived past lives where someone aborted a child and you were very judgmental and didn’t understand. In your current lifetime you may decide to go through an abortion to understand the emotional and physical reasons for abortion.
Sometimes someone will want to experience an abortion because they want to feel the loss so when they eventually bring in the soul or souls they’ve agreed to have, these souls will be loved so much more because of the previously experienced loss.
Pakt (Bob continues identifying them as Marie on the recording) asks if there’s people missing on Earth because of abortion. The Council says no one is missing. They’re aborted because they’ve agreed to this and they’ll come back when they choose.
The Council says if Pakt doesn’t understand the contracts that are made about abortion, don’t torture yourself by reading about it. Don’t look at pictures of aborted fetuses that will upset you because then you’re bringing in sadness and torturing and punishing yourself. For right now you can say you don’t understand abortion, but you can try to have the better thought that abortions are always agreed upon. Try to avoid putting yourself in a position where you hurt yourself over and over again.
Abortions are always wanted. There’s never an abortion where the child wants to be born and the parents don’t want this child. When the time comes, if the parents are receptive to having the child and the child thinks they’re willing to give it a try, it’s agreed upon at that time that the abortion doesn’t have to happen. But the spirits of all parties involved in this pregnancy will know at this time what’s needed.

Remembering You Are Spirit – Free Will – Other Lifetimes – Reason for Poverty
This post is inspired by a comment from Tracy on a post we published in April 2013, which was before we made recordings of sessions with The Council available. That post answered one of four interesting questions from a reader named Jose about why we fail to remember who we are as spiritual beings in our physical life.
Tracy asks a few questions beginning with, “What if we don’t succeed on any level?” And ending with a comment about seeing the mistakes we’ve made, “but have no power left to sort it out, and already feel dead.”
As we re-read the post Tracy commented on, we decided to make a recording of it available in this post in the hope it might be helpful to Tracy and other readers, at least until we can publish a post to answer Tracy’s questions. While the earlier post answers only one of Jose’s questions, the following recording has The Council’s answers to all four of Jose’s questions. In case you’re interested, here are the five posts we published back in 2013 to answer these questions.
- Every Question Is Important
- Why Do People Appear Unable to Fulfill a Spiritual Intention to Have Fun and Remember Who We Are?
- Does Spirit’s Pre-Birth Planning Negate Human Free Will?
- Future Lives, Connecting with Famous ‘Dead’ People, & the Importance of the Present
- What Is Spirit Up To?
Thank you for your questions and comments, Tracy. We’ll do our best to get The Council’s answers and publish a recording of the session in the near future. In the meantime we hope our readers will listen to the following recording of our session which prompted those questions and let us know what you think.
Understanding Your Spiritual Intentions for Your Human Experiences
This post is inspired by a question from Susan, who wants to know why some people (particularly a man she knows) experience childhood abuse or other types of trauma and end up with addictions, unemployed, and homeless; and other people (particularly Susan) move past their childhood trauma and take advantage of opportunities to improve their life.
What humans and spirit consider improvement can be very different
“But what you do not understand here is that your idea of what he needs to improve his life, and what his spirit needs to improve his life, is totally different. Is that understood?”
–The Council
(Text formatted like above throughout the post represents quotations from the session)
This was intriguing and we spent most of the session getting a better understanding of what The Council meant by this. The result was some impressive insights into the relationship between who you are a human being and who you are as a spiritual being. As an added bonus The Council offered some fascinating insights into the subject of multiple realities.

You have no idea what spirit wishes
The Council continued from their previous comment above:
“So if you [Susan] feel that he has had several opportunities to change his life or perhaps somehow deal differently with his abuse, yes that would make sense to many. But you have no idea what his spirit wishes.
“And what we see here is that it is his wish to be in this lifetime and to experience this addiction, to experience the abuse from what you would consider an unhealthy attitude toward what he has come through.
“What you do not know is that he has experienced this before (or as we would say, now [but] in another reality) and he has experienced it where he is dealing differently with his abuse and (perhaps) handling it in (what you would consider) a much better way [in his current reality]. Is that understood?”
Near Death Experiences as Evidence of Spiritual Reality
A reader named Jose wants to know why some people who have a near death experience (NDE) are able to come back to their physical body, and others just have a physical death experience and don’t come back.
From his reading about near death experiences, Jose says it appears that as you cross over from physical reality to spiritual reality, you realize your spiritual magnificence and ability to cure your physical body of any disease or catastrophic accident, and live a wonderful life. With this in mind Jose wants to know why anyone wouldn’t return to their physical body after realizing such power, particularly if they could also prevent loved ones from experiencing the emotional pain and suffering that often occurs when someone departs physical reality.
When You are No Longer in Your Physical Body, You are Still You
“We would like to say here that there are many that have near death experiences and do not have any memory of it, because those who have the near death experience and come back to share it with others, this was part of their plan incarnating into this lifetime.
“At this particular time on a planetary level, many of the souls that are living in the physical body are learning about being spirits in this physical body. But they want some proof that there is more, [that] there is a beyond, that they have come in, that they can (so to speak) die and come back.
“And so the ones that have the near death experiences and return to share that… that was part of their purpose. Much of the information they receive when they are in that near death state… all of it is not remembered and brought back with them. So what is brought back and shared is to help others know that there is a great beyond; there is a better place; there is a spiritual eternity that goes on.”
“The people that do have these near death experiences and come back to share that, it was their agreement that this would happen and they would be carriers of the messages, with proof of what they experienced: that there is more than just living in this physical body.”
“And so it was also planned that all ages would have this experience, and would have proof of what was going on when they were (so-called) dead: that they knew…what was being said, what was going on, who was there. So you have young children experiencing this, old people experiencing [this], middle-aged people [experiencing this].”
“And so when so many different ages and types of people all over your planet are having this experience, it is to bring that information with (what you would say) solid proof that you are a spirit in a physical body. And when you are no longer in that physical body, you are still you. You still exist. Is that understood?”
—The Council
(The formatting above throughout this post represents The Council’s comments during our session. Text [in brackets] in these quotations has been added to improve readability and clarity when this seems useful.)
The Council repeatedly emphasized that not everyone who has a near death experience remembers the magnificence of their spiritual reality when they return to physical reality. Increasing numbers of people are able to remember because this is their intention as a spiritual being, and because they agreed to have this experience to help other souls remember you are part of a spiritual reality beyond your physical experience.
The proof The Council mentions is the ability of people who’ve had near death experiences to accurately report physical reality occurrences that took place while their physical body is unconscious, often at a distance from their physical body that leaves no other explanation for this awareness other than a non-physical/spiritual explanation.
If you believe that who you are will cease to exist when life passes from your body, The Council reminds you that you are the life that passes from your physical body. Who you truly are is the eternal life energy that temporarily occupies your human body.
What About Free Will?
Jose’s question also mentions the aspect of near death experience reports where people say they were told it wasn’t their time to leave their physical body and they were supposed to return to physical reality in order to fulfill some purpose. Jose asks where free will comes in if souls are prevented from making the transition from physical to spiritual reality.
“When you are told to go back, you are also reminded why. And so if many do not remember, they usually will come back saying that they had another purpose, or it wasn’t fulfilled, [or] it wasn’t their time. But the choice is always in the spirit whether to return or not.
“But as we said, so much is experienced that is not remembered [that] you may come back and say, ‘I was told to come back.’ But in reality you choose to come back because of what you’ve experienced, and what you’ve heard, and what you know when you were in the spiritual dimension with us.”
The Council has emphasized in several sessions that your free will as a spiritual being is never compromised. But from your human point of view this can seem questionable if you feel your human desires aren’t being satisfied because something is preventing it.
In Closing
The Council is showing quite a bit of interest in near death experiences lately and we’re beginning to understand why. Many of these reports are of experiences that are difficult to explain by the physical reality conventions that modern societies have come to believe in and depend on. It’s exciting to imagine these reports of near death experiences are helping persuade people that awareness that spiritual reality is at least as important as awareness of physical reality.

The Human-Spirit Relationship and Free Will
Overview
This post is inspired by a question from a reader named Jose, who has read in some of our blog posts (links at the end of this post) that humans are spiritual beings in a physical body, and that spirit sometimes chooses to have human experiences that we (as humans) find undesirable. Jose wants to know how it’s possible for humans to have free will to choose our human desires, if who we are as spirit is choosing human experiences that feel unwanted from our human point of view.
Lots of people have become interested in the spiritual teaching that you are the creator of what you experience, which has been around a while and has become more popular through the teachings of Abraham and other spiritual teachers. Jose’s question suggests he’s aware of lots of things in his human experience he doesn’t want, and after reading in our posts that who you are as spirit sometimes creates human experiences that feel unwanted from your human point of view, he came to the troubling conclusion that spirit is preventing him from having more of the human experiences he desires.
Topics Covered in this Post
Even if you don’t believe spirit is keeping you from manifesting more of what you desire in your life, and you’re not particularly interested in the subject of free will, if you’re interested in ideas to help you feel an increased level of well-being in your human experience, we’re finding the information and guidance from The Council in response to Jose’s question has been a big step for us in that direction. Topics covered in our sessions on Jose’s question and in this post include:
- The relationship between who you are as a spiritual being and who you are as a human being.
- Why the spiritual part of you might desire to have human experiences in a physical reality.
- Why the spiritual part of you might desire to have human experiences that feel undesirable to you as a human being.
- The validity of your human free will to choose your human desires, even if who you are as spirit is choosing to have different human experiences.
- Why you may be having difficulty manifesting your human desires in your physical experience.
Nothing Going On That Spirit Hasn’t Planned For
The Council began our first session on Jose’s questions by emphasizing there isn’t any separation between spirit and human.
“The spirit works through the body it [spirit] has created.
“So there is nothing that is going on that the body wants, that the spirit hasn’t planned for.
“Is that understood? It is all one – the mind, the body, and the spirit – it is all one.”
–The Council

Does Spirit’s Pre-Birth Planning Negate Human Free Will?
This post is third in a series describing a session with The Council on Saturday, March 30, 2013 to answer questions from Jose, Michelle, and D. This post focuses on the first of Jose’s four questions and it’s about guidance from The Council in a recent post and the issue of free will:
“In the case of what was shared in Maria’s Plan for a Spiritual Leap, it appears that the spiritual agreement made prior to the incarnation is more powerful than Maria or her friend’s “godly” power to manifest a new reality of survival and togetherness in this lifetime, as if there is no free will in this incarnation.” —Jose

Jaqueline’s Questions – Part 2
This is the second of two posts to answer questions from a reader named Jaqueline. In the first post, Trusting You are Spirit in a Physical Body, The Council answers her question about how to connect with inner guidance and find inner peace “even when things seems to be so messed up.”
Jaqueline describes herself as being 23 years old and concerned she hasn’t decided about a career yet. She says, “I know I worry too much and think way too much, but I could really use some clue about what I’m supposed to do in this special lifetime, if I’m going in “the right direction”.
This post describes the portion of our July 24, 2012 conversation with The Council (non-physical spiritual guides) that addresses career and life-direction issues. We found this information personally very helpful and we believe it can also be helpful to others.
At the very end of this post we introduce some new guidance from The Council on the law of beliefs that came at the end of our session on Jaqueline’s questions.
