The Purpose of Her Life After Her Abortion
In this post The Council answers questions from a reader who goes by the name, Important Or Not Blog, who says it’s been almost three years since her abortion. She’s been through therapy, she takes a high dosage of antidepressants, and feels she hasn’t been able to communicate with the spirit of the fetus she carried. She tells herself everyday that her abortion was the result of a spiritual agreement she made with the aborted fetus, and that she’s a human being having a spiritual experience, but she’s unable to move forward. Before the abortion Important Or Not Blog was fairly happy and now she’s full of sadness, anger, and blame. She’s afraid she’ll feel this way for the next 50 years and she asks if The Council can explain her purpose in this life?
The Council says one of Important Of Not Blog’s purposes is to experience the quality of forgiveness and to show this quality to other people in her life.
The Council says in looking at the way Important Or Not Blog feels since her abortion, if she knows there was a soul agreement with the fetus and this soul has moved on, they ask if she’s able to see the situation as something both she and the fetus wanted to experience and learn from? If you focus on the abortion as something that was traumatic for you and can keep thinking both you and the fetus are spirits, ask yourself what is the purpose of hanging on to blaming yourself and feeling bad you had this abortion? The Council says this whole episode was designed to push you to learn more about spirit, about past lives, and about life in between your lives when you plan what you want to learn moving forward.
When you think about how you can turn around your feelings about the abortion by reading about past lives, soul agreements, and in between lives, that should take you out of your depression and give you more of a feeling of understanding. When you understand why you both chose to have this abortion you’ll feel more forgiveness for yourself. And when you can learn to forgive yourself, you can learn to forgive others that you feel have abandoned you or hurt you in some way in this lifetime.
Brian Weiss is good to read for information about past lives, Robert Schwartz is recommended for information on soul agreements, and read books by Michael Newton for information about life between lives. If you read this material it will open you to bring in new energy and make this lesson a lighter one – one where you can understand how you succeeded in the first part of what you wanted by going through this abortion. The second part will be to turn your feelings about this abortion around and find ways to feel okay about it.
Reading the material The Council suggested will help you find the love, and once you start to get this feeling of love, bring it into your life on a daily basis. This will change your focus on what you go through as you create for the future.

Twin Flames, Twin Souls, and Soulmates – What’s the Difference?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named Kimberly, who asks when was the last time she incarnated with her twin flame.
The Council says a twin soul, which is another name for twin flame, is part of your higher self and not an aspect of another spirit. The twin flame incarnates as a part of your higher self to shake up your life. It’s not usually a partner, but someone that jumps in and out of your life and forces you to grow. It’s sort of a mirror that shows you your beliefs and helps when you’re stuck.
Sometimes your relationship with your twin soul is a rough one and you don’t get along. Other times your twin soul will be very supportive. The twin soul always comes to help you get unstuck. Many people think the twin soul is a romantic relationship, but this isn’t its purpose.
A soulmate is someone you’ve worked with over many lifetimes and there’s a spiritual agreement to have a very close relationship in your current lifetime. Whether it’s a marriage or a close relationship, a soulmate comes from a different spirit than your own and has agreed to come in and help you. The twin soul or twin flame is someone that you’ve created from a part of your own higher self.
The Council says they feel Kimberly is asking about a soulmate even though she uses the words, twin flame. But they feel it’s necessary for her to hear an explanation for the twin flame because she needs to look at her life and see that she’s brought one in. Is it a close relationship? Is it someone who pushes her buttons? Is it a teacher who helps her go in another direction?
The twin flame appears as a separate person who comes in and out of your life or is in your life for a short period of time, but is really an aspect of your higher self that’s here to help you move on. The Council believes Kimberly’s original question is asking about a romantic soulmate from two lifetimes ago, as opposed to a twin flame, but they feel it’s important for her to explore her current lifetime, look for her twin flame, and ask herself what she is trying to teach herself.
Kimberly asks if anything tragic happened with her twin flame in this previous life and The Council is clear in their answer that they’re talking about a soulmate in a previous life, not a twin flame. They see a life in England during the 1600s. Kimberly was the husband in that lifetime, he had two children, worked as a traveling cloth tradesman, and the tragedy was that although he had a loving family, he abandoned them for an opportunity to sail to different ports and trade his goods.
The Council says in Kimberly’s current lifetime there may be a focus on healing the abandonment from the previous lifetime and learning how the female partner in that lifetime felt. She may be searching for the perfect partner in her current lifetime, but has difficulty finding it because of the abandonment in the previous lifetime. She can heal this by being gentle in her current lifetime, considerate, and having a permanent relationship where she no longer wants to run away.
Bob asks if there’s a relationship in Kimberly’s current lifetime with the wife or children from the previous lifetime. The Council says there was an agreement with one of the children to be the partner Kimberly’s looking for so healing can take place, but this hasn’t happened yet.
The Council says before Kimberly goes looking for her partner she should concentrate on the twin flame who’s in her life to shake it up, teach her to open her heart and mind, and look at things differently. Once this happens then she can concentrate on what she’d bring to the relationship she desires. Then she can look for the joy wherever she can find it because there was a lot of hardship in the past life.
Kimberly asks if her twin flame (which The Council believes she means her soulmate) will be there when she crosses over. The Council says the souls you need to see at the time you cross over will be there for you and you’ll recognize them.
Kimberly closes by asking if her twin flame (read soulmate) has any messages for her. The Council says their message is to stay in the vibration of love, show it to yourself first, be kind to yourself, and explore who you are. There’s so much more you can find out about who you truly are and what you’re able to do in this lifetime. Pay attention to your dreams and watch them unfold.

An Apparent Broken Relationship Contract
This post is inspired by questions for The Council from a reader named Mel, who read our post, Purpose of Sharing This Lifetime, about an apparent broken relationship contract. Mel says he has a similar problem with a woman he was supposed to have made a spiritual agreement with to be partners in this lifetime, but she’s chosen to be with another man and Mel feels she’s broken their relationship contract.
The Council advises Mel that whatever he and this woman pre-planned in spirit before coming into this lifetime, in this lifetime he and this woman are creating the changes they are experiencing. It’s not that this woman broke their relationship contract. It’s that in this lifetime Mel and this woman are now creating new situations.
The Council emphasizes nothing happens to you in this lifetime or any other lifetime that you don’t help create, including this apparent broken relationship contract. Perhaps this situation will take Mel in other directions he also wished to experience. The Council emphasizes there’s always a backup plan. And they add that whether it’s in this lifetime or another lifetime, Mel will come together with this woman to finish what they wish to explore together.
Mel says even though this woman is choosing to be with another man, Mel feels he’s unable to pull away. He believes he wants and needs her love in his life. The Council says in spirit the man this woman is choosing to be with has also agreed to come along at this time, maybe to give this woman the opportunity to choose who she wants to be with. The Council suggests Mel understand he’s part of this agreement with this other man to see how he’ll handle this part of their lives together.
The Council says there is an agreement that the three of them can create other directions in this lifetime if that is what they desire and Mel knew of this in spirit before coming into this lifetime and was fine with this.
The Council advises Mel that when he’s able to wish this woman well and appreciate the love he has for her as his friend, good things will begin to happen for him. They advise Mel to consider there’s someone else that’s agreed to come along for him if this woman friend of his didn’t choose him. And they say if he allows this to happen he’ll experience even more happiness in this new relationship than he believed possible.

Can I Have A Long-term Romantic Relationship?
This post is inspired by questions from a reader named Gabriela, who is nearly 30 years old and has never experienced a long-term romantic relationship, but wants to badly.
Gabriela says she made a spiritual agreement with someone to be her partner in this lifetime, but they didn’t come through. And The Council responds it’s not definite that this person would show up or stay in Gabriela’s life. They say what Gabriela and this person create with their thoughts will turn their relationship one way or another during this lifetime.
The Council says it’s important to understand that you create every situation that happens in your life and that no one can push you in a direction that you, as a spiritual being, don’t want to go in. The purpose of this life is to learn who you are, that you have choices, and that you are a powerful creator.
Gabriela says she’s alone, bitter, and not interested in living anymore. And The Council asks why she’d want to throw away what she’s created because of what she’s experienced at this time. They remind her she’s able to change her circumstances because she’s the creator of her experience, and they advise her to create what she wants.
The Council says if you aren’t in the vibration of love and appreciation for yourself, you aren’t in the vibration of attracting the type of person you’d like to be with. Gabriela set up in spirit that she’d go through many relationships that are not what she desires so she’d have to learn to love herself.
The Council says she has a strong spirit to choose this challenging path. If Gabriela begins to think about her good qualities, begins to love herself, and knows what a loving partner she’s capable of being, they say she will raise her vibration and bring this in.
The Council says we usually have a desire to create things in our lives where we feel we could have done better in our past lives. That’s the purpose of each reality we create. And they add that there’s nothing we create that is wrong. We create it in order to have the experience of it and then improve it.
Ask yourself what loving feelings you can bring to your current experience. When you shift your thoughts to love, your vibration changes and it’s felt by everyone around you. And this is how to get what you want.

A Stillborn Pregnancy
Jyoti’s questions
This post is inspired by questions from a reader named Jyoti about a wonderful pregnancy she had in early 2013 that ended in her giving birth to a stillborn baby. It tells the story of a spirit who originally planned to be her child, but just before birth agreed with Jyoti’s loving spirit to remain in the non-physical so it could learn more before coming to the physical world. She wants to try and get pregnant again and give birth to the same soul, but the pain of loosing the child left her feeling sensitive about this.
Having this soul again
Before this pregnancy she wasn’t so keen on having a child, but now all she wants is to have this soul again. She now has the understanding that all souls have purpose, pick their parents, and if they’re not ready to come into the physical they remain in the non-physical.
A Dream
In a dream the spirit came to her with a message and Jyoti asks: Why did he leave us? Is he coming back? What does this message mean? Should we try again now or wait until we’re more mentally prepared?
A Strong Connection
The Council sees a strong connection between Jyoti and this spirit and while they cannot say when she should become pregnant again, if all goes as planned there’s a good chance this spirit will return to her. So they ask Jyoti to speak to the child at night before she goes to sleep, ask if it’s ready to return, tell this spirit about their life, and see what happens.

Decision and Indecision
Kim’s question
This post is about a question from Kim concerning a pregnancy she terminated over the summer and getting pregnant again.
After originally becoming pregnant Kim felt bad about it, terminated the pregnancy, and now feels guilty about her decision. She doesn’t understand what made her feel so negatively and wants to get pregnant again.
She asks The Council if the pregnancy she terminated was a creation of her own soul, like our post on Beth’s situation, or if it was a separate soul. And if she became pregnant again would the same soul return to her.
The Council’s answer
After some back and forth with The Council it became clear that Kim’s terminated pregnancy was an agreement between Kim and another soul, which is different from Beth’s situation where her own soul created the pregnancy she later terminated. Because they feel Kim is inclined to believe the other soul is responsible for terminating the pregnancy, The Council repeatedly emphasizes the agreement between Kim’s soul and the other soul to make this happen.
A lesson about indecision
The Council says the important reason for this termination is the hard lesson of indecision in Kim’s life, and they suggest looking at and working on this pattern of indecision that she and this other soul have manifested. That’s the way she’s trying to get answers, to change what she’s going through, and to learn that she creates everything that happens in her life.
Would the same soul return?
The Council sees no present agreement between the other soul and Kim’s soul that it would come back if she got pregnant again, but they also don’t rule out the possibility either. In the end The Council seems to think Kim’s questions relate more to her indecision and are less about getting pregnant. Why don’t you have a listen and see what you think?

Pain – A Spiritual Perspective
In this post we look at The Council’s spiritual point of view on the subject of human pain. The post was inspired by two questions about pain from two different readers. Robert’s question is a philosophical one about the purpose for pain in our human experience. And Lee Ann’s question is a personal one about a spiritual agreement she thinks she made to ‘take on’ the emotional pain of other people.
Robert’s Question – The Purpose of Pain
If you’re open to the idea there’s a spiritual explanation for things that happen in your human experience, sooner or later you’re likely to wonder what the spiritual explanation is for pain that might be in your life or other peoples’ lives. Robert concludes pain is an anchoring tool that serves the purpose of slowing down your spiritual vibration enough for you to “embody the human density and to have a flesh body,” and he asks The Council’s opinion about this.
“We would like to say here… how many spirits do you think would want to come back and experience this life in the physical body if they knew they had to have pain to anchor themselves into that physical body?
“There is nowhere where we want to come into this physical experience and suffer, and be in pain, and have many, many challenging experiences. It was our belief to come in to make things lighter… more loving, no matter what situation you are in.
“There was never a belief that you must have pain to anchor yourself into a body.
“The spirit decides when to enter [and] when to leave the body; and what its tool is… what its vibration is… is to be in the vibration of love, and happiness, and compassion.
“And there is nowhere where we would want to experience pain, or anyone else’s pain, because that would not help anyone, anywhere, ever.”

Is it Possible to Change Your Life Just by Changing Your Thoughts? + Helping Others
This post is inspired by the following simply stated questions from a reader named Freddy:
- How do better-feeling thoughts affect your life?
- Is it really possible to change your day-to-day life and your future with just a change in your thoughts?
On Thursday, June 14, 2012 we did a session with The Council to answer Freddy’s questions. During this session The Council surprised us with some related guidance about a question on Cynthia’s mind.
They observed that many of us who follow spiritual guidance related to the law of attraction and better-feeling thoughts, are limiting ourselves when we focus primarily on satisfying desires that aren’t also helping others.
The Council reminds us we are spiritual beings and that we planned with other spiritual beings to help each other bring the love we are as spirit into this physical dimension.
When we expand the focus of our attention to include these plans we made in spirit to help each other, these better-feeling thoughts allow us to experience the kind of spiritual expansion we came here for in the first place. The guidance on helping others begins under the heading: Cynthia’s Question about Helping Other People.

You Sort Of Light Up
“First of all, better-feeling thoughts affect the whole body…your whole mood…your whole vibration.
“You can tell the difference between a thought [like]: ‘I hate this job…I have to get up and go there…’ [or:] ‘Oh, my legs hurt…my back hurts…my head hurts…I have to go to the doctor.’
“And then you have a thought: ‘Oh, I’m so looking forward to this vacation we planned in the Berkshires. Oh, I remember the first time I went to the beach…I was 5 years old…I can still remember the sand castle we built.’
“Each thought has a different vibration. The better-feeling thought is what we call a quickening vibration. It’s like you become more alive; you begin to sparkle. When we look at you…you sort of light up.
“The better-feeling thought also affects your body. When you have the better-feeling thoughts, every cell in your body reacts to it.
“Now is it true that it changes your life? Yes.”
“When you really focus over and over again on better feeling thoughts, your thought…your feeling, is a vibration that goes out into the Universe. And as you are all learning now [about] the law of attraction, you must get back the same vibration that you are putting out. So what will return to you is a vibration that will bring to you more and more of things that will help you feel better.”
