Are My Past Lives Affecting My Addictions In My Current Life?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Spiritual Girl.
Spiritual Girl: Due to my alcohol and cigarette addictions, I’d like to ask The Council about my past life experiences, and are they affecting my ability to deal with these addictions in my current reality?
Council: Yes, your past lives are affecting how you deal with these addictions in your current reality. In your current life you just wanted to have more life experience concerning addictions.
We see here two lives in the 1800s. One as a young man who was murdered because of his gambling addiction, and that was something you wanted to experience.
Then there was a life where you were sick and you were addicted to a drug that was called laudanum at that time.
You experienced two lives with addictions and wished to have more experiences around addictions so that when you plan in the future to not come into a physical reality, you can help people with addictions from the spirit world. That’s why you’re having more addictions in your current lifetime.
It’s your choice as a spirit to experience these addictions. Take this experience and then help others in the future, which is a wonderful thing.
Bob: Will Spirit Girl be helping others in her current life?
Council: If her life goes forward like it was planned, there will be help for others in her current reality.
Bob: Did Spirit Girl plan to overcome her addictions in her current reality?
Council: Yes, we do see this. Of course Spirit Girl is the creator of her reality, and so she’ll find the help she needs with her addictions when her spirit feels it has enough experience in this part of her life, and then she’ll find a way to turn that experience around.
SG: Also, I have a horrible heartache from being separated from my short-lived relationship with my twin flame (past 20 years). I’ve never had such a beautiful love, and then I had it ripped away from me. It was so painful, but I want to be able to heal the pain.
Council: The past life we see is in the 1800s where you were addicted to laudanum and you were with this person who was the great love of your current life. From the addiction you collapsed one day and died in the street from an overdose.
Bob: It sounds like Spirit Girl is referring to the heartache of being separated in her current life.
Council: Yes. The same person that Spirit Girl separated from in her current lifetime was her lover and then her husband in her past lifetime in the 1800s when she was addicted to laudanum.
Bob: Any suggestion on how Spirit Girl can heal the pain she experiences from this separation in her current life?
Council: To begin with, Spirit Girl can know she and this man have been together in a past life, and if they want to, they’ll be together again in a future life.
The experience of separation is to bring you the knowledge that there’s so much more that you’ve had in a past life, and you can have it again in a future life. You can have again whatever you experienced previously. Be grateful for that, and know there are things that you’ll learn from that experience of separation.
There are questions you can meditate on and get answers to. Before going to sleep, in this state you can talk to this soul from that lifetime or from this lifetime, and you can have that feeling of connection. But always, always know that if it’s wanted, you’ll be together again.
Bob: So it sounds like it would be helpful for Spirit Girl to focus on her connection with this soul rather than on the feeling of separation?
Council: Yes.

Since the blog is currently a project we do in our spare time it can take a while for us to do a session with The Council on a question and then publish a post on the session. The Council
Cynthia is able to communicate with a group of five non-physical spirit guides in a manner similar to the way Esther Hicks communicates with and speaks for the spirit guides, Abraham, and Jane Roberts communicated and spoke for the spirit guide, Seth. I (Bob) basically interview The Council as they speak through Cynthia during what we refer to as a session. Sessions generally last 5-15 minutes and are usually audio recorded. During the session Cynthia is aware of what The Council is saying and she also receives visual impressions and other types of telepathic communication from them.
The Council’s Basic Guidance
Since we began these sessions with The Council around 2009 they consistently emphasize a few basic ideas that we attempt to summarize here:
1) You are an eternal spiritual being in a physical body.
You are the energy and vibration of continuously expanding love, intelligence, and joy.
Your physical experience in your physical body and your psychological experience of your personality is a small part of the totality of who you truly are.
Let yourself imagine from time to time what it might feel like to experience more of the wondrous totality of who you really are, and don’t be surprised if you are able to experience this more often.
2) You are the creator of all that you experience.
As you open to the possibility your true nature is greater than you ordinarily perceive, it becomes easier to consider the possibility that this expanded you is truly the creator of everything that you experience.
If you’re used to thinking of yourself in a more limited sense, the idea that you are the creator of your experience may be difficult to understand. Our post, What About This Idea That We Create Whatever We Desire, offers insights into this idea.
3) You are here to expand the love you are into physical reality.
You chose, as a spiritual being, to come into this physical reality to experience the joy of expanding the love you are as a spiritual being, into this physical reality. This is your purpose for being here.
Finding Your Way Around the Blog
Home Page
The left-hand column on the Home page contain a long chronological series of posts with the most recent on top. Each post begins with a title. Hello Cynthia, Bob and the Council. I was wondering if you could give me some guidance about what is going on with my body weight. I have struggled with maintaining a healthy body weight for many years and I am tired of going through the cycles of yo-yo dieting. Can the Council help me understand what my spirit is trying to learn or achieve with these challenges related to my body weight? I have recently joined Overeaters Anonymous because I don’t know where else to turn. I would appreciate any guidance in this matter. Thank you so much in advance

I am Spiritual Girl and am fascinated by The Council’s response and was wanting to know if they could elaborate on my past 2 lives? For example: like what city and or country did I live in when I was murdered and when I overdosed? Also, the life where I was sick and addicted to laudanum, what was I sick from and did I happen to be an artist?
Also, I was thinking of trying Quantum Healing Hypnosis Therapy for addictions, would The Council recommend this and would The Council recommend trying the Edgar Cayce oil pack therapy? Thank you so much for all your help, as it is appreciated!

Greetings to Bob, Cynthia and The Council.

I´m feeling in a tunnel and I don’t see the light at the end. I studied to work with immigrant people but there is not much work in this field and they do not pay much for it so I decided to change the course and decided to study veterinary nursing but after several years I’m stuck and I can’t finish it:
– I feel disappointed and very tired and I don’t know whether to leave this path or not.
– I would like to know if the real reason for this situation is because this job is not truly aligned with my life mission
– I feel lost, I don’t know if I’ve been wrong about everything, I would like to know what would be the profession or activity/activities that I am supposed to come to do or for which I have more qualities in this incarnation.
– I would also like to know if I could earn enough money in it to emancipate myself from my family.
note: I am trying to manifest my future work with the law of attraction, but I no longer have a clear image of what I want, so it is more difficult for me to do…
