Are There Such Things As Negative Spirits?
This post answers questions from a reader named Mary, who asks The Council about the nature of what she calls negative spirits.
Mary says she has epilepsy and has heard that people with epilepsy often have more frequent interactions with spirit than other people. The Council says this isn’t true.
Mary says when she was younger she often had sleep paralysis where she felt like a spirit was taking the life out of her. She says she learned to use her mind to instruct these dark spirits to leave her alone. She’s been successful with this approach and it happens to her rarely these days.
The Council says these spirits aren’t evil. It’s more likely they’re having difficulty moving forward and they are attracted to Mary’s inner light. It’s not that they want to take this light away from her, they just wish to feel that light again. The Council agrees with Mary that these spirits must leave when they are asked to.
Bob asked The Council to elaborate on what they mean by these spirits not moving forward. This is more common when someone dies instantly, like when they are shot. Often these spirits don’t know they’ve passed over. They just see someone’s beautiful inner light and wish to be part of that.
Bob asked about situations like haunted houses that seem to be inhabited by spirits from long ago. The Council says some spirits do return to places familiar to them and this is just an experience they want to have. When the spirit is ready to let go of that particular lifetime it will move on.
The Council says what Mary refers to as negative spirits are spirits that are temporarily lost and unsure of who they are and where they are. Many people are frightened by these spirits, but The Council says they just need some guidance. Instead of being afraid you can send these spirits the vibration of love. When you do this you’ll feel a change in how this spirit appears or feels to you.
At the end of her questions Mary asks if this is a real spirit or just her negative thoughts. The Council says if you want to experience ghosts or something negative in this lifetime, that is what you’ll create. You’ll conjure up an evil spirit for your own experience to see how you handle this. When you get to a good place and you’re no longer afraid, and you know who you are as a spiritual being, you’ll send love to this spirit even if you think this spirit is negative.
The Council says sometimes you wish to experience fear to see how you’d handle it. In Mary’s case The Council says this was a desire to connect with her own inner spirit and not be afraid, and to turn this fear around with the feeling of love.

Hi, ImportantOrNotBlog. When we have a chance we’ll ask The Council about past life reasons affecting your relationship with your mother and post their reply on our blog when it’s ready. Love and light, Bob & Cynthia

Dear Cynthia, Bob, and The Council, I want to thank you for a recent private reading, although I am still struggling. I would like to ask a question about my mother and I am wondering if there is a past-life reason for the way she has always treated me.
I am an only child. When I was a child my mother kept my hair very short and would not allow me to wear dresses. When people called me a “little boy” my mother would laugh. She told me she didn’t have time to deal with long hair.
I was bullied at school and my parents just expected me to sit there and take it. Any negative reaction I might have was wrong. I felt bullied by my parents. Both of them made fun of every picture of me even to this day.
When my parents wanted me to participate in activities, I had to do what they wanted. I attempted to perform well in these activities to gain their approval although I never really enjoyed what I was doing. Whenever they bought me something, I was told that my dad would never be able to retire because of me.
I have made a lot of mistakes in my life because I did not listen to myself and I listened to my mom instead. I have tried to discuss these things with her and she just dismisses me and and says “woulda, shoulda, coulda.”
I am very tired. I want to be born to supportive, loving parents. I want to start over.
