What Is the Purpose of My Life?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Denisa, who’s looking for clarity about her life purpose. She says as a child I went through emotional and physical abuse from my father and step-mothers, which led me to search for the meaning of life and my life purpose. This searching led me to spirituality and angels from whom I learned my life purpose is to help people on their journey and show them the way, but I’m not entirely sure what this means. I would love if The Council could provide more clarity, guidance, and insight into this subject.
The Council says this path should feel very familiar to you. In a past life in France you were a nun in a convent who helped lost, abandoned, and abused children. In that life you weren’t able to truly understand what these children felt like. You were very concerned and very loving. You prayed all the time for guidance on how you could help these children. You would ask your angels, the saints, and God to help them and help you to help them.
In your current life you want to understand abuse. You didn’t want to have an abusive life and have it destroy you. You wanted to get an idea of what the abuse felt like and then you wanted to help people again who were mistreated.
In your current life you pre-arranged to have a great connection with spirit to call in angels and higher entities to help you understand your life purpose even more. You have a connection and you can call on it and expect answers and help. It will be there for you.
Denisa says she’s also recently begun to meditate with the intention of connecting with my spirit guides and allowing them to speak to me and through me. Am I on the right track? The Council says you are definitely on the right track.
As a nun in your earlier life you kept a journal of what you saw and how it made you feel, and you made up little prayers and wrote them down. Learn to meditate and then sit quietly with a pad and something to write with, or even in front of a computer. But the paper will bring back memories of other lives and your answers will come through quicker that way. Ask for guidance. Ask questions. See what you begin to write.
The Council closes by repeating that Denisa is definitely on her path and you’ll be guided even more now. You’ll learn more and you’ll be led to the right books to read and the right things to say to people. You’ll get clarity on your thoughts about problems you have or things you don’t understand. You’ll begin to work at a higher level. And of course prayer will be very familiar to you.

Since the blog is currently a project we do in our spare time it can take a while for us to do a session with The Council on a question and then publish a post on the session. Depending on the question and the session it can sometimes take weeks after a question is asked to publish a post with The Council’s answer. Please be patient.
The Council
Cynthia is able to communicate with a group of five non-physical spirit guides in a manner similar to the way Esther Hicks communicates with and speaks for the spirit guides, Abraham, and Jane Roberts communicated and spoke for the spirit guide, Seth. I (Bob) basically interview The Council as they speak through Cynthia during what we refer to as a session. Sessions generally last 5-15 minutes and are usually audio recorded. During the session Cynthia is aware of what The Council is saying and she also receives visual impressions and other types of telepathic communication from them.
The Council’s Basic Guidance
Since we began these sessions with The Council around 2009 they consistently emphasize a few basic ideas that we attempt to summarize here:
1) You are an eternal spiritual being in a physical body.
You are the energy and vibration of continuously expanding love, intelligence, and joy.
Your physical experience in your physical body and your psychological experience of your personality is a small part of the totality of who you truly are.
Let yourself imagine from time to time what it might feel like to experience more of the wondrous totality of who you really are, and don’t be surprised if you are able to experience this more often.
2) You are the creator of all that you experience.
As you open to the possibility your true nature is greater than you ordinarily perceive, it becomes easier to consider the possibility that this expanded you is truly the creator of everything that you experience.
If you’re used to thinking of yourself in a more limited sense, the idea that you are the creator of your experience may be difficult to understand. Our post, What About This Idea That We Create Whatever We Desire, offers insights into this idea.
3) You are here to expand the love you are into physical reality.
You chose, as a spiritual being, to come into this physical reality to experience the joy of expanding the love you are as a spiritual being, into this physical reality. This is your purpose for being here.
Finding Your Way Around the Blog
Home Page
The left-hand column on the Home page contain a long chronological series of posts with the most recent on top. Each post begins with a title. Clicking on a post title will take you to a blog page dedicated to that particular post. Following each post is a Like button where you can indicate to us and other readers if you like the post.
The footer section of each post identifies the date the post was published, the Categories the post has been assigned to, the keyword/keyphrase Tags assigned to the post, and a Comment link. I have a question re past life. Recently I was asked on a spiritual level to commit a “next” life. I said yes, (the memory of the past life was profound – I was a light bearer). Shortly after making the contract a spiritual friend of mine noticed a white light vibrating up and down my right forearm. Once I told her about what happened and the contract I made the light stopped. My question is: Can we commit to a next life while living this life? Warm Regards Jo

Hello, Cynthia & Bob. Firstly, thank you and The Council for the guidance you provide. This answer is illuminating. While reading this post, I had a desire to ask The Council, if possible. Similarly to Denisa, I went through a lot of pain as a child due to emotional abuse and “hard discipline” from my father. This seems to be a theme in my father’s family— there is a lot of trauma that ends up being passed down in the family. It affected me greatly; I put my life and health at risk constantly, but I have always been highly protected. Now I am healing and growing spiritually from what I lived. My questions are, is there a spiritual component to the pain in my father’s side of the family? As in, is the cause for the generational trauma more spiritual rather than psychological? How can I help us break from it, to give my aunt’s children a chance at a life filled with love and light rather than anger and pain? And, is my chosen spiritual path the right one, to help with this issue and for personal growth as well? Once again, thank you for the guidance you all provide. Be blessed.

Hello Bob and Cynthia, this answer is so beautiful and so powerful. I can’t thank you enough. It’s truth what the Council says. Through my abusive childhood I now understand how I can help children and also why I have nice relationships with them and why they feel good when they are around me.
