Growing Spiritually When You’re Unable To Visualize

This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named Brea.

Brea: I want to move through my own shadow work, but I am unable to see anything in my mind’s eye. I do not remember a time when I could close my eyes and visualize my childhood home, let alone a yellow triangle. I feel like I have blocked off this capability, and it seemingly makes meditation difficult.

Council: Well we would like to say here that visualization is not the only way to grow spiritually and learn things. Now some people see nothing, but they hear things. Some people don’t see anything, they don’t hear anything, but they feel. They learn by feeling; by paying attention below your breast bone. When you ask questions, or you feel something around, go there and feel that, and you will be taught how to get answers by feeling.

And another thing we would like to say, for you, in a past life you were a writer, and you wrote beautiful stories. We would say you brought that talent in with you in your current lifetime. Some people connect with spirits by automatic writing. We would suggest you do that. To take paper and pencil, or sit in front of a computer and ask a question, and see what comes. Eventually you’ll get some gibberish, not making sense, and then maybe a word here, a word there. And as that part of you opens up, spirit will talk to you by you writing, by you getting the answers, and your fingers just putting it on paper, or on a computer. We feel you would be wise to do this, and it would work very nicely eventually.

Brea: I know I visualize when I dream, but here in this realm, I can’t see anything when I close my eyes.

Council: And that is fine.

Brea: How can I move through my shadows in a different way, or how can I bring back that visualization piece? Thank you so much for your time.

Council: We would say, work on feeling, work on writing. And then, eventually, ask your guides when you connect, that you would like to visualize. Will they help you? And of course they will. But first, go with what you are capable of now.

And so we send you love. We send everyone happiness and hope, and the ability to change your lives. to know that you can, and make it exactly the way you want it. And that is why we’re all here right now. Love to you all.
