Is Alcohol Good Or Bad For My Spiritual Health?
This post answers questions for The Council from an anonymous reader about the use of alcohol and its contribution to spiritual health.
Anonymous: Can you please help me to understand alcohol more? I can’t understand how it’s 100 percent bad. There’s duality. Is it good or bad for spiritual health?
Council: It is both. It’s the choice of the spirit and what it wants to learn by having a relationship with alcohol. Does it help take away depression? Does it help with pain? Does it help you move forward, stay calm, and understand? If you abuse alcohol or use it to help yourself, it’s all in the choice of the soul and what it chooses to be learning at this time.
Anonymous: Where’s the good part? It’s interesting the effect it has on humans.
Council: The good part is there are parties, there are get-togethers and people have a little drink and they know how to handle themselves, and it feels good, and it makes people happy, and it’s a joyous occasion. And then there are the others who become dependent on alcohol and need it more and more so that it controls their life. Again, what does the spirit want?
Anonymous: What is the deeper part of it? I understand there are many lessons to alcohol, but I’d just like to know where I should be standing with it.
Council: We can’t tell you where you should be standing with it. That is for you to observe yourself, along with your feelings, and to see how you are handling it. You have the freedom to learn many, many things from alcohol. It plays a good part and a destructive part, but every soul has a choice. That’s important for everyone to know.
And we’d never come and answer your questions and tell you that you should do this, or you should do that. It’s all your choice and we allow it. It’s so simple for us. Okay, you want to indulge in alcohol and have a wonderful time every now and then. Great. Oh, you want to indulge in alcohol and it’s bringing you down to your knees. It’s destroying you piece by piece. Okay, if that’s what you want, we’re okay with it. We allow. It is your choice, It’s your idea how you want to experience it and what you want to learn from it. Can you turn it around? It’s all up to you.
Anonymous: Also I feel like I can’t get away from alcohol.
Council: That again is a choice. Of course you can get away. Do you have the discipline? Do you have the focus? It’s all a choice.
Anonymous: I don’t feel like I want to stop, but logically I think it might be right. But again, I don’t see how I can get away from it. I feel deeply on alcohol.
Council: We’d say, first of all, stop thinking of it. Stop putting your focus there all the time. You want to get away, you don’t know if you want to get away. Stop giving alcohol your attention. What you focus on, you feed, and it grows.
How about just focusing on, “Ah, I’m at peace, I feel good. What shall I do today? What else do I like to have around me?” Take the focus and move it in a different direction. It’s all what you truly want to experience. You are the only one in control. No one can do this for you.
Anonymous: And I feel deeply on alcohol. Does it amplify my manifestations?
Council: What we see in your energy field is that you are overwhelmed by this. This is almost #1 on your mind. The way you can release it is to meditate. Put yourself in a beautiful garden, or on a beach, or a forest, or someplace else and concentrate on breathing the clean air, maybe drinking some cool water, maybe laying down and relaxing and feeling the sun. Do you see what we’re doing here? Take the focus off of the alcohol and then sooner than you can believe, more and more you’ll be able to go there and focus on other things.
Anonymous: Why do I get deep realizations on alcohol?
Council: Because it’s as simple as that’s how you choose to do it. You can get beautiful, deep realizations in meditation. Just sitting in a chair and thinking of things, and thinking of it one way and then another way. And what would it be like to feel this, or what would it be like to do this, or go there.
Do you see what we’re saying? It’s your focus, over and over. If you think your intention is to get wonderful realizations without the alcohol, you will. So please do not use this as a crutch. We see where your soul wants to go. And where it wants to go right now is to turn the way you’re handling things at this moment.
Bob: To turn things around?
Council: That’s what your soul wants, and it will find a way to do it.
And so we wish you all peace, and love, and happiness, and health, and adventure, and joy, and a wonderful, wonderful way of creating with your intention, with your feelings, and with your smile. Smile as you think of how you want things. It will help you immensely. So have fun with it.

For the time being you don’t have to attach your name to the comment, but there have been a lot of anonymous comments lately, and it can be confusing for us to keep track of these. It would help us if you made up a name rather than using no name.
