Spiritual Aspects of Childhood Cancer
This post answers questions from a reader named Jolanda, who recently had a young boy in her family diagnosed with cancer. They’re a health-conscious family and they are in shock over the diagnosis. Jolanda asks The Council to shed some light on the spiritual aspects of cancer and particularly childhood cancer.
The Council begins by saying that cancer is a disease of fear, and it’s created for many different reasons.
They say in spirit we create many different challenges for ourselves when we are in our physical bodies. Some of these challenges are for ourselves, and some are to teach the people around us.
Sometimes we choose (as spirit) to experience cancer because we desire to teach on a larger level. We want to teach our parents or our family about fear, hope, and believing there is more than the physical.
As someone experiences cancer, how they face it is important. Often there’s a desire to go through it quickly and to show other people you have the ability to heal the cancer.
The Council says the main reason someone gets cancer is their spirit has either chosen to experience fear, or the spirit will be calm and the people around them will experience fear.
The Council says every challenge we experience in our lifetime is for the purpose of teaching everyone involved to turn towards love.
In response to Jolanda’s question about what the patient and his family need to learn from this experience, The Council says that in addition to learning to choosing love, they can begin to learn about faith, and that we are so much more than our physical bodies. They add that understanding we are greater than our physical body is the main reason many spirits are choosing to channel through people who are open to this.
The Council says you can cure yourself with your beliefs. You can cure yourself by knowing you are vibration and you can change everything with your thoughts. Know you are spirit and you are love. Love always conquers fear.
The Council says Jolanda’s relative came into this lifetime with the intention of curing the cancer. He should be shown love, not pity. He should be encouraged to feel happy, to enjoy himself, and love every one around him, including himself. This will bring him into the vibration of love that he needs to heal the cancer.
The Council says this is an experience for the family to go through, and everyone can pull their thoughts together and believe in the best outcome. Know that the vibration that heals the body comes from the vibration of love. Everyone around has volunteered (in spirit) to be part of this experience. Be upbeat. Know the situation is able to change for the better. As everyone in the family sees this child getting better, it must happen.
The Council says if there’s sadness and heaviness around the boy with cancer and he begins to think that way, he may not be able to overcome the cancer. Jolanda should be positive about her relative’s recovery, and she should feel it and send this vibration to the child. This will help him through this challenge.
The Council closes with some interesting thoughts about how every person has their own experience of the child with cancer. They recommend everyone in the family see and feel the boy getting better, and feel love and happiness that the child has the ability to do this.

The Council
Cynthia is able to communicate with a group of five non-physical spirit guides in a manner similar to the way Esther Hicks communicates with and speaks for the spirit guides, Abraham, and Jane Roberts communicated and spoke for the spirit guide, Seth. I (Bob) basically interview The Council as they speak through Cynthia during what we refer to as a session. Sessions generally last 5-15 minutes and are usually audio recorded. During the session Cynthia is aware of what The Council is saying and she also receives visual impressions and other types of telepathic communication from them.
The Council’s Basic Guidance
Since we began these sessions with The Council around 2009 they consistently emphasize a few basic ideas that we attempt to summarize here:
1) You are an eternal spiritual being in a physical body.
You are the energy and vibration of continuously expanding love, intelligence, and joy.
Your physical experience in your physical body and your psychological experience of your personality is a small part of the totality of who you truly are.
Let yourself imagine from time to time what it might feel like to experience more of the wondrous totality of who you really are, and don’t be surprised if you are able to experience this more often.
2) You are the creator of all that you experience.
As you open to the possibility your true nature is greater than you ordinarily perceive, it becomes easier to consider the possibility that this expanded you is truly the creator of everything that you experience.
If you’re used to thinking of yourself in a more limited sense, the idea that you are the creator of your experience may be difficult to understand. Our post, What About This Idea That We Create Whatever We Desire, offers insights into this idea.
3) You are here to expand the love you are into physical reality.
You chose, as a spiritual being, to come into this physical reality to experience the joy of expanding the love you are as a spiritual being, into this physical reality. This is your purpose for being here.
Finding Your Way Around the Blog

Thank you all for this beautiful reading. It hit the nail on the head regarding an incident during the pregnancy which I strongly believed was somehow related to the cancer, but couldn’t figure out how.
His mother was involved in an extremely traumatic incident which caused incredible, long term fear, while she was pregnant with this child. Your answers explain so well why he has now manifested cancer. And have given us great hope, thank you SO much. Many blessings ❤
