Ask The Council

What will you ask Spirit?

Preoccupation with a Past Lifetime Hinders Progress in Your Current Lifetime

This post answers some follow-up questions for The Council from a reader named Kimberly. In her original post she asked about a twin flame and was told about a lifetime around 1600 in England where she was a man who left his family. The Council asks Kimberly what she’s learned from the last post and what does she understand now? Have you received clarity to help you move forward?

Kimberly asks what happened to one of her children from this previous lifetime? The Council says it lived out it’s life and is currently in another lifetime, but this lifetime is unrelated to Kimberly’s life. Kimberly says she’d really like to give birth to the soul of this child in her current lifetime and The Council says giving birth to this soul was not agreed to for Kimberly’s current lifetime.

Kimberly says she feels horrible about abandoning her family in her past lifetime and The Council interrupts and says if she feels horrible about this, she hasn’t learned it’s lesson. Everything Kimberly went through in this previous lifetime was pre-planned in spirit. Kimberly leaving the family was something the spirits who played the wife and children in this previous lifetime wanted to experience so they could learn their own lessons.

When Kimberly feels horrible, it’s just unnecessary guilt she puts on herself because she completed what she planned in that lifetime. Each spirit, including Kimberly, was very happy at the conclusion of this past lifetime. You did what you wanted to do as a spiritual being. From a spiritual point of view there wasn’t any abandonment. You left because you had other lessons to learn in a different lifestyle, and your wife and children needed to learn different lessons without you being in their lives.

The Council suggests if Kimberly still feels horrible about leaving her family in this previous lifetime, she needs to read more of our other posts and get to a place where she understands that the most difficult experiences in life are pre-planned in spirit. It’s an experience you all want to learn from and then go on with your life. When that life ends you come back to spirit and greet each other and plan a new life. She’s looking at what happened in this past life from her personality’s point of view (in her current life), rather than seeing her past life circumstances from a more spiritual point of view.

The Council doesn’t recommend Kimberly spend much time thinking about this past lifetime. They say she’s trying to fix that lifetime and that’s not necessary. Holding onto that life will hinder her progress in her current life. She’s in her current life to concentrate on what’s going on in her current life. She’s not here to go back and find out more about her past life, and beat herself up, and wait for these souls to all show up again in her current lifetime. That isn’t the purpose of her current lifetime.

Kimberly asks what were the names of her wife and children in this past life and what town they were buried in so she can visit their graves. The Council says knowing this information just keeps her focused on this past lifetime instead of focusing on her current life. They repeat that for Kimberly it’s not a good idea to hold onto this past life.

Is Kimberly happy in her current lifetime? If not, what’s she doing to change this life? You do not change your current life by trying to go back and fix a previous life. You try to heal your current life. You try to create with your thoughts and visualizations where you’d like this lifetime to go. That is your purpose right now.

In the original session Kimberly was told that one of the children from this previous lifetime would be her partner in her current lifetime and she asks how she’ll know it’s him and what is his name? The Council says when a young person comes into her life and has a great sense of humor and a very light and happy way of seeing things, this will be the soul from the previous life.

In the closing The Council mentions to Bob and Cynthia to keep up their good work, to which Bob replies, “We’ll try.” And The Council laughs and quotes a great spiritual teacher (Yoda from the Star Wars movies) who says, “There is no try, there is only do.”

Listen to our entire 9-minute recording of our session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Kimberly and the rest of us, and let us know how you feel about it.
