Ask The Council

What will you ask Spirit?

Is My Family Trauma More Spiritual Than Psychological?

This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Gloribet, that were prompted by her reading of our post, What is the Purpose of My Life?  Gloribet says she experienced much pain as a child because of emotional abuse and hard discipline from my father. This seems to be a theme in my father’s family where there’s a lot of trauma that’s passed down through generations.

The Council says the reason your family is experiencing this trauma is that each person wanted to work with this trauma and learn from it. You came together as a family to experience this trauma so that each person can realize it’s in the family and ask why this is going on? Just having this thought will provide each of you with support.

Gloribet says this trauma had a great effect on me. I put my life and health at risk constantly, but I’ve always been very protected. Now I’m healing and growing spiritually from what I lived. Is there a spiritual component to the pain in my father’s side of my family? Is the cause of this generational trauma more spiritual than psychological?

The Council says it’s always spiritual. It comes into your human life as a psychological problem or challenge, but your spirit chooses this challenge in order to work its way through it. Every member of your family has a different reason for going through this trauma, but you all came together to offer support you can feel on an energy level.

Gloribet asks: How can I help my family break from this trauma and give my aunt’s children a chance at a life filled with love and light rather than anger and pain? The Council says you can’t change anyone else. Your cousins will go through what they need to go through until they come to a place of understanding and learning. How you can help others in your family not have to go through this trauma is by treating everyone with kindness, empathy, understanding, and love. Don’t always focus on this problem in your family and talk about it. You’ll teach the younger generations through your actions and let these people know there’s someone there for them to speak about this trauma if they choose.

Gloribet asks if her helping with this family trauma is part of her chosen spiritual path and will help her with her personal growth. The Council says if your path has been difficult, it was chosen by you in spirit. Of course you’re on the right path. Will you get to where you want to go? Yes, when you show kindness and love and accept people for the way they are.

How Do I Interpret My Recent Dreams and Enhance My Psychic Gifts?

This post answers questions by a reader who goes by the name, SoulSeekingPeace, who asks The Council to interpret a dream they had where a wolf wants to get into their house, but SoulSeekingPeace is afraid and the wolf runs away. The Council says the wolf represents the teacher, and their higher self has sent this dream to open new doors and to teach them new ways.

A couple days later SoulSeekingPeace had another dream where they heard the words, “Everything is energy.” The Council says this voice and the wolf from their previous dream is to help SoulSeekingPeace become aware of energy by hearing it, feel it, and possibly even tasting it.

Even though SoulSeekingPeace hasn’t mentioned anything in their Comment about hands on healing, which The Council says is there for them if they think they’d like that, The Council suggests they read the book, Hands of Light, by Barbara Brennan. If they read this book it can put them more in touch with how energy works, how they can see and feel it, and this book will help to bring SoulSeekingPeace along their path.

SoulSeekingPeace asks what they should do to get rid of the fear they have of energy and psychic knowledge they feel coming from other lifetimes? The Council says these fears usually means that in a past life you misused these gifts in some way. You regretted this misuse and wish to have another chance in your current lifetime to work with energy and psychic knowledge in a positive way.

The Council advises SoulSeekingPeace to learn as much as they can about the chakras and experience different types of energy healing until you can feel what you’re drawn to. They specifically mention Polarity, Reiki, Reconnection, and Acupuncture as a starting point.

SoulSeekingPeace says they think they’re telepathic and empathic, and The Council says these gifts are definitely there. As you progress along the path The Council recommends, you’ll see how you’re able to pick up other people’s energy, which you’re already able to do to some extent. And you’ll become more psychic with meditation.

They suggest learning the meditation taught by the famous psychic, Edgar Cayce, with the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE). It would be good to join the ARE and search their records on energy, healing, and almost any subject you can think of. This is how you can advance in your psychic work in a positive way. This is happening in your life right now because you’re ready to experience this.

Learning Empathy Through Relationships

This post answers questions from a reader named Sarah, who contacted us recently about a friend who’s in love with her, but now refuses to speak with her. (We published Looking for a Meaningful Relationship in answer to that question.) Sarah recently had a relationship experience with a different man and asks The Council if she created this new experience to develop empathy for her friend she asked about earlier.

The Council says, yes, Sarah’s spirit called in a situation that is similar so she could see things from the opposite point of view.

Sarah says she’s developed deep feelings for someone who says he’s got a rare condition that causes him to be detached from a relationship. As she expressed her emerging feelings for him, he said he’s unable to feel anything.

The Council says this man is unable to have the same feelings Sarah has for him. They say this situation is similar to the other relationship where Sarah’s friend expressed love for her, but she didn’t feel love for him. And The Council says the man that she wants to have a relationship with now has made a personal choice to remain unattached, similar to Sarah and her original friend.

Sarah asks the purpose of the (so called) condition of the new man in her life. The Council says this is a condition of choice. He is able to decide to try and make this relationship work with Sarah. The Council advises Sarah to look carefully at what this man is saying about having a condition he’s unable to control. The Council says it’s a pattern in this man’s life when he doesn’t want to do something, to say it’s out of his control when it’s really his choice.

Sarah asks The Council if her current situation is providing the opportunity she wanted to create empathy with her original friend or is it more multi-faceted?

The Council replies that it’s multi-faceted, but it definitely also Sarah calling this new relationship in to understand how the man in her first relationship feels with her not returning his feelings. Now she’s created a situation where she’s involved with a man who’s not ready to return her feelings and this will give her some understanding and empathy for the man in the earlier relationship.

The Council asks Sarah if what’s going on in her current relationship is something she wishes to change into something more with her focus and desire. Or is this relationship something she understands and wants to go into further and learn additional lessons.

The Council suggests Sarah focus on what she perceives now and how she’d like things to be in the future. Send both men love on their journeys and accept these men the way they are. They are in Sarah’s life to teach her lessons and to bring out more empathy and more love for her to learn from. When Sarah is able to send this empathy and love out to others, it will change everyone.

Listen to our entire 6-minute session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Sarah and the rest of us, and let us know how you feel about it.
