Overcoming Project Setbacks: Guidance for Success
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Ellie.
Ellie: Hey there. I hope you’re all well. I just read the last comment, and I have some questions about work, also.
I’ve been running two projects, one for eight years and another for five years, that don’t seem to really be getting off the ground. First, there was illness and its associated difficulties, then the pandemic and colleagues dropped off. Now, post-pandemic, the sector faces various issues, and so on. Why did these setbacks happen?
Council: It happened because you created it. It was part of your reality. It fell into the timeline of the pandemic, and for many, many reasons.
If you have been trying something for eight years, or five years, or ten years, or even two years, and it is not taking off, it is not becoming what you need or want in your life, then you need to look at it. What’s missing from this? Is it something that you’re just holding onto tightly, that it has to be this way, it has to be that way, but it’s not happening?
We say let go of this idea. Is there something in it you can change to make it easier? Maybe there’s something along the lines, but not exactly the way you’re trying to create it. It is always there for you, but you must examine the way you are doing it. How are you trying to get this into your life? If it’s by plugging away, dragging up whatever you can to make this happen, you are not in the right vibration.
Everything you want in your life, you already have. It is there for you, but the way to find it is to go in the higher vibration of love, the higher vibration of joy, to be happily excited about something. And if you look at it and it’s not working, you can say, “All right, the way I see it, I can’t create it this way. How do I change the scene? How do I change how I want it to happen? Maybe I need to picture new people coming into my life.” Play with the idea, because after all these years, if it’s not happening, you need to look at it differently.
It is always there for you. You will meet the right people who will want to be part of it, who can help you get it off the ground, but change the vibration. That is so important, how you feel about it. But if it’s so hard that it’s dragging along, why on Earth would you want to create that? Find something you will create with joy, with excitement, and you will be able to have it happen.
Ellie: A year ago, someone advised me to move forward without colleagues, so I did. For the first project, I contacted hundreds of places that would, and in the past, did host my work. I spent a great many days following up, but have absolutely no takers.
Council: And so did you look at it? Why isn’t anybody interested in it? “I need to tweak this a little bit.” And with the interest in it, of how to change it to make it interesting, also let it happen. But if you think nobody is interested, it is not working, it’s not the right people, you are in the wrong vibration. Always look, “I am in control. I can make this happen. Now let me look at it again. What can I change about it? What can I get excited about it?” Go from there.
Ellie: For Project #2, which I think does need people, I started reaching out to old colleagues, and also meeting new people, but again, no takers. I’ve lost the ability to visualize for my work now.
Council: And there’s another problem right there. You lost the ability to visualize. How are you going to create this? How are you going to feel the joy of starting this new business? How are you going to see it succeed if you cannot visualize it?
Ellie: I just get sad, and it hurts.
Council: Sadness is in the way. Feeling hurt is in the way. Instead, think of yourself: “I am a spirit. I’m intelligent. I’m here. I want to do something. Of course, I can create this. Apparently, I’m going about it wrong right now. How do I change this? Let me look at this.” And change the way you see it. And when you see it, make sure you’re in a place of love, of happiness. “Yes, yes, this is a bit different. This will help me. I can see myself meeting all new people, bringing them into my life, who can add to this. They have some ideas that are interesting.” Play with those thoughts.
Ellie: I’d be heartbroken to let these projects go.
Council: How about instead of being heartbroken, say to yourself, “Well, the way I was trying to do it isn’t working. Now let me release it and get excited about something new that I can bring in.” Do you feel the difference in the thought? Being heartbroken about letting it go, that doesn’t feel very well. But being excited, “I’m going to let it go. Goodbye. We’re going to change the thought. We’re going to add to it. We’re going to bring something new in.” Look at the difference in the feeling, and that’s how you create.
Ellie: But is this life’s way of telling me to stop these projects, stop this work, and change sectors?
Council: It’s you telling you this. No one else is telling you. Somehow your higher self, what you are planning, what you want to do next, is showing you, this particular way, it’s not happening. So follow that. “All right, this is not happening. Let me let it go, and let’s see what I can replace it with.”
Ellie: Would something like technical work or alternative intelligence be better for me to go into?
Council: If you feel joy in learning that, if you feel happy getting to that area of your life to work with that, of course it will work for you. It has no choice but to work for you. But if you’re just doing it because it’s just something else, maybe it will work; that vibration will never make it work. Find something that brings you joy. Find something you want to look into now. Research it. See how you would do in it. How does it feel to do it? And that’s how you get the information whether it’s for you or not.
Ellie: What would happen if I did (go into technical work or alternative intelligence)? Would I be happier?
Council: That’s up to you. (Laughs) We can’t make you happy. You look into it and see how you feel. If it’s happiness you feel, then go with it. It’s part of your higher self pointing the way. When you feel the joy, the interest, the happiness, then that’s what you try for, and you create it.
Ellie: I can’t imagine it’s true, but if I’m still to keep with the projects, how do I secure takers for Project #1…?
Council: You will never do this because you can’t imagine it will be true. So right there, you are telling yourself you can’t imagine it happening. You can’t see this getting off the ground. So we would say, “Forget that.” The thinking you have about it right now will not help you develop what you want to develop.
Ellie: …and find people for Project #2?
Bob: I imagine the answer is the same for Project #2.
Council: Look for happiness on your journey. When you find it, when you have the feeling, go in that direction.
And so we send you love, and all the joy that you can find in your lives. Create, create, create.

Why Did I Plan This Great Work Opportunity?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Anonymous_Question.
Anonymous: Hi, Cynthia, Bob, and The Council. Thanks so much for your work, and Happy New Year.
I had a lot of difficulty for the last few years with a manipulative manager in my last job, and went through a traumatic workplace situation recently in which I was nearly buried under a lot of misinformation and misperceptions about me. I responded to this with documentation refuting some of the claims, and then was soon laid off, which was a relief given the situation. I also have what seems like a great opportunity lined up that I will start soon, which came essentially immediately.
Council: And we would say to go into this new job, not with a fear of having trouble again or misinformation, but to see it as a gift that the universe has sent you. And you will work with very nice people, and you will love your job. Start that thought immediately. See it and feel it.
Anonymous: I was wondering if you had any clarity or insight into this situation as to if or why I might have planned this? Thank you.
Council: It’s an old past life where you had troubles, were very misunderstood, and you were not in a great household. Part of it (we see here), there was a lot of learning. Some things you weren’t interested in, and you seemed to get into a lot of trouble because you wanted something else, and in that particular life you were supposed to just be grateful for what you had. So it’s the tail end of healing this.
So it should not be hard for you to put an end to that lesson by starting off going into this new place very excited, very happy, that you have met the right people, the right job, and you will be very happy. Do not start thinking: suppose this happens like the last job, or I’m afraid to say this, or I’m afraid to say that. If you do, you will bring that lesson with you. You need to go in there with positive, wonderful, happy thoughts.
We are sending you all love and light. That is very much needed right now. Many, many people are having old, old issues coming up, old problems that many of you are trying to heal before you go forward into a new life and better experiences. So we say meditate. Meditate, meditate, meditate.

How Can I Move Ahead At Work?
This post answers questions for The Council from an anonymous reader about getting ahead at work.
Anonymous: I’m feeling stuck and overlooked at work. Any thoughts on how I can move ahead at the organization I work for? I’m trying very hard to stay positive and engaged, and I do think I want to stay there, but I need to see or create a path forward.
Council: What we see here is very interesting. You were saying that you think you’d like to stay there, and yet we see what you were trying to create in your current reality was a lot of movement, a lot of meeting different people, learning many, many different things, and just liking the freedom (and freedom was a big choice for you) of moving forward.
So while we can say if you want to stay there – and that is possible if that’s what you truly want – then we’d say to get ahead, try to learn different parts of jobs that relate to what you do, but expand on what you do. We see you trying to be in a helping capacity – maybe teaching or guiding – in any sort of business at all, and taking a leadership role. So play with the idea of learning what other parts of the organization you work with will expand on your particular job. Ask about different programs. Ask about learning more. Showing an interest will bring your attention to higher-ups who could find an interest in you. You can do that.
And yet we would also say to check and look at different kinds of jobs. If you could have any job at all, what is it that’s interesting to you? What is something new that you’d like to learn and go forward with? But there was always the thought of being in a healing or a teaching capacity going forward.
And so if you wish to stay where you are, you can do that, but expand on the job, always in the area of teaching and guidance. Or take a leap of faith eventually when you feel you’re in the place you want to do it, and perhaps learn a different job and leap to a different company.
Anonymous: Is something holding me back?
Council: The safety of having a job and being in one place, and yet that’s the opposite of what you truly wanted to experience. You wished to be independent and always be learning new things, and then taking it further and guiding and teaching. That’s what you planned to do before coming into this reality, but that can always change. You have the freedom to change what you want and how you want to experience it.
But whatever it is, pretend, move forward, imagine something completely different. What does it feel like? What does it feel like if you’re surrounded by people and you are showing them how to do things? The teaching and the guidance are important in this reality.
Anonymous: I feel capable but invisible. Thanks for any guidance you have.
Council: So feeling invisible is you not getting the feeling of what you wanted, which is being seen by other people through teaching. The teaching and showing people, even if you took it in the direction of working with children, it’s wanting to be paid attention to so that you can learn better ways to do things for other people, and finding easier ways. And that is what you were interested in.

What Can I Do About My Problems With A Work Colleague?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, A Frustrated Worker.
Frustrated: I have a question about a work scenario. I’ve had a special and intricate working relationship with a colleague for nearly a decade. While they have an anxious disposition, they were always supportive and followed through when it counted. But for the last few years they’ve really let me down. There have been delays after delays, they’ve continuously moved deadlines, put other peoples’ work before mine, told little white lies, dismissed my feelings about the work being delayed, and this sort of thing.
Council: Why have you stayed in that situation for a couple of years? It’s a situation that’s presenting itself to you. When you look at it, it makes you turn and look at yourself for the growth to see why you stay in that situation when everything is showing you that it’s not working and there is a problem here.
Frustrated: It’s left me in a very tricky situation. I recently had to confront them. They took offense and it looks as though our working relationship may be over.
Council: Taking this step and confronting them is good. When they take offense you have to realize either it’s something they’re going through or it’s something to do with their thinking. When it goes that far it’s very plain for you to follow your feeling. It can’t be comfortable being in this. Your feelings, which is your higher self’s way of talking to you, is saying, “It was good, but now it’s time for a change. And the change comes because you are ready for growth.
Frustrated: Separating the work we’ve done together and the work I have planned for us will be like undressing a salad. And because the work they do is very excellent and idiosyncratic, I can’t see who I’d replace them with.
Council: It’s time, when you make the salad and you make the same dressing for many years, that you tire of it, or your taste buds want something new. So now it’s time to dress your salad with something new.
Frustrated: Can this relationship be saved, or am I supposed to let this go?
Council: There’s nothing to save. It was wonderful. Hopefully all involved have learned from it and now have different paths to travel, and this includes yourself. There’s nothing to save. You’re supposed to follow your feeling and get excited about something new that you can bring into your life. And you do this by writing it down, thinking over and over about the new people that could come into your life, and the way you want it to be. So you start that inner work and you begin to bring in the new people.
Get yourself in a happy mood and excited mood where you’re thrilled to be going forward. When you do that you must bring in these new people. Make up your mind instead of thinking, should I try and fix it, should I hold on? If you make up your mind to move forward, there’s a new path, there are new things to learn, and there are new people to bring into your life. Once you start imagining that, making that your intention, these people will definitely come along.
Bob: Just to be clear, to answer the question, “Am I supposed to let this person go?” The answer is, yes?
Council: That’s what’s happening around you. It’s pointing to that. Is your higher self showing you this? And you feel the loss of the relationship. You feel it’s not working. You know they’re putting you off and putting others before you. The answer is so simple. You can hang on to this relationship, but it won’t get better. You can try to create it, but why would you want to create this where your feelings are pushing you to move in another direction?
Frustrated: What would I have to do to save this relationship, or how do I find their replacement?
Council: If you want to save this, then you would see these people understanding what you’re saying, you’d see them wanting to work with you and put your work first, and coming through for you. You can see that. You can create this.
And yet we must say here that even if you create this for a while, what you’ve created in spirit is that now it’s time to move on.
Frustrated: Are there other souls who are lined up to take the place of this person if they decide with their free will to leave?
Council: Definitely, but it’s your work to call it in, to imagine it, to see it, to be open and excited about this wonderful new part of your journey.
Frustrated: Why did this happen? Is there a higher purpose for why this has occurred?
Council: Of course there’s a higher purpose. It’s your higher self that wants to go forward, that you’ve planned in spirit other things you want to do. So of course there’s a higher purpose, and guess who created it? You did. You created it in spirit. Remember that you are a spirit, that you create everything that happens, and move towards what you want.
Bob: It sounds like you’re saying that the higher self of A Frustrated Worker has created one direction and the higher self of the colleague maybe created another direction.
Council: Everyone has created their own direction. What’s important here is the direction you want to go in. How does it feel in the situation you are in? Is it satisfactory to you? Does it bring you joy? If not, follow your feelings. There’s something new, there’s something different. These other people have created what they want and they’ll go in their direction. And so it’s just for you to accept and let flow what’s being presented to you.
Frustrated: I’d really appreciate your insight, as I feel I’m in complete limbo at the moment.
Council: Imagine what you wish for. Start creating with your mind. It’s a wonderful time to do this.
Happiness and blessings to everyone. Enjoy yourself. Find your power. Create happiness every day, even if it’s the littlest bit, because when you’re in the vibration of happiness, you’ll be able to bring into your life at any time what will give you happiness on a longer basis. So have fun with this.
