Why Does My Cat Urinate Outside Its Litterbox?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Janet.
Janet: My 18-year-old cat is going to the bathroom outside his litterbox. His veterinarian has ruled out medical issues and says my cat’s trying to tell me something. What’s he trying to tell me?
Council: At this point we can see that this cat is forgetting, almost like a person having dementia, so sometimes he just forgets to use his litterbox. But your cat also wants attention. So we’d say, at some point during the day or in the evening, have this cat in your lap or next to you, pet it, give it a lot of attention, and speak to it. That’s what this little soul wants.
Bob: Eighteen years old is kind of old for a cat. Do you think the extra attention will…
Council: Yes, it will help, but part of this problem is your cat just forgets to use the litterbox.
Bob: And can that be helped?
Council: Yes, with the extra attention you give this cat.
Janet: I feel soul-connected to this cat as well. How are we soul-connected?
Council: You are soul-connected. We see that the soul of this little cat has chosen you, and you chose it to work through this issue of his not using his litterbox sometimes. Also for you to get more of an understanding of what happens with age, not only in humans, but also in animals. And for the soul of this cat to still have the love it wants, as if it was a kitten. And so you are connected where you’ve chosen each other to experience this.

Was There a Soul Contract Between Me and My Cat, Caesar, Who Passed Recently?
This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Christine, whose loved cat, Caesar, unexpectedly passed away recently and she’s in shock.
The Council says when it’s time for an animal to pass over (what some of us think of as dying), the animal knows it’s their time, and often it’s easier for them to pass when no one is around. This is what The Council sees happened to Caesar.
The Council says even though Christine’s in great shock, they ask if she’s able to imagine that Caesar’s in a beautiful place with other animals and other humans, and he’s completely happy.
The Council advises Christine to stay in the wonderful memories she has when she was around Caesar, and reminds her Caesar’s spirit is still around her. She can ask for signs that Caesar is around and she’ll receive these signs. The love between Caesar and Christine will never die and she can always touch into this love.
The Council says when it’s time for Christine to return to spirit, there’ll be people and animals she knows in spirit to greet her, and The Council reminds Christine there’s a great happiness when everyone is together again in spirit.
Christine had just returned from a great holiday and picked up Caesar at his sitter’s house. The next night Caesar walked up to Christine she had the thought to give him a lot of attention. She told Caesar how much she loved him and one day they’d all be together in spirit with all the other pets he and Christine lived with. The next day Caesar passed, and The Council commented that it was wonderful she was able to do this, and Caesar was able to hear it and understand it.
Christine asks The Council how we can know our fur babies who have passed are still with us? The Council says with your mind you can go to a quiet place and speak with your cat and ask them for signs they’re close by. Your cat will come to you in a way you’ll understand that it’s there.
Christine asks The Council if our animals have a soul contract with us? The Council says sometimes they do. Christine and Caesar have a soul contract and The Council feels they’ll be together again.
Sometimes an animal will come into many lifetimes with you to help you go through the different phases of being with an animal – learning what the animal can teach you and what you can teach the animal. Sometimes an animal will come into your life because you just need an animal. When you’re at the point in your life when this lesson is needed, an animal will show up in your life.

Moving to Cambodia and Leaving a Cat Behind
This post is inspired by questions for The Council from a reader who goes by the name, Just Me Again. She’s planning a move to Cambodia next year and she has to leave her cat behind. She’s found someone who’s willing to take the cat and she asks if this is the right person. The Council asks her to search her heart to see if she’s comfortable giving her cat to this person and if there’s a loving vibration there.
She asks what she agreed to offer her cat in this lifetime, and The Council says when we come together with the soul of an animal, there’s no agreement or plan what you will do. You come together because you need each other. It’s a coming together to support each other in the feeling of love.
She asks about previous lifetimes with this cat and The Council says they can’t see a previous lifetime.
She asks if the cat understands why she has to leave her behind and if she’s ready to move on. The Council says the animal knows it is loved, but may not understand the reason she’s leaving the cat behind. The cat will know if it’s being left in a good place, and the love it feels for Just Me Again will continue.
She asks if she had a previous lifetime in Cambodia and if it’s the right move and time for her to go. The Council says within a year it will be a good time to move there, but they don’t see an immediate move.
She asks about a Cambodian woman who said Just Me Again was her doctor in a previous lifetime. The Council sees her aiding soldiers in a war in one lifetime. In another, back in Greece she was considered a doctor with very advanced healing abilities that she brought with her from Atlantis, and The Council believes she may have healed the Cambodian woman in this lifetime.
Lastly she asks The Council about a flower essence blend she feels guided to make for tourists in Cambodia. The Council says to meditate on the blends. They feel there will be 5 different ones that she’s already created in her spiritual reality. And they recommend she soften each blend with a bit of Rose.
