Ask The Council

What will you ask Spirit?

How Can I Heal My Addiction?

This post answers questions for The Council from a reader named, Michael, who starts by asking, “If a person has paid off his karmic debts…,” at which point The Council interrupts the question. They say for centuries many people believed there’s a karmic debt you have to pay off and they add, there’s no such thing as a karmic debt.

There are experiences you choose in spirit to relive in order to experience it again, but you relive these experiences differently. For example, you can heal a situation, you can choose to help others through a similar situation, and you can give yourself more understanding. But there is no karmic debt that says you must do this thing to pay back for something you did in a past life. You choose what you create in each lifetime because you’re learning from it and you’re being helpful to others.

Michael goes on to say, “…and has learned so many lessons from his addiction and it has completely ruined his life…” Again The Council interrupts and says maybe you look at it as ruining this one particular life, but according to your spirit, what’s happening is exactly what you want. You can gain additional understanding of a situation or show others what it’s like to be in your situation.

Michael continues, “…but he is now completely ready to fight it with all his might and heal himself. Can The Council suggest how he’d go about this?” The Council says Michael’s idea of fighting his addiction will get him nowhere in terms of his healing. The idea of fighting is negative and there’s too much pressure there.

If you don’t want to experience addiction anymore and you’re ready to heal your life, acknowledge what you’ve gone through. It’s your choice to change your life now and not to go through addiction anymore. There’s less pressure and more love in this approach. Just the fact there isn’t a war between you and your addiction will make all the difference it the world in terms of how you come through this.

If you believe you have to fight your addiction and you don’t heal this part of your life in this lifetime, when you transition you get more understanding. There will be spirit guides to go through this with you and remind you that when you came into this life, you don’t come to fight anything. You don’t come to push anything away. You came into your physical life to learn from it and choose how you want to go further with it. You’re always reminded to bring love into every situation.

Just acknowledge what you’ve gone through, where you are now, and how you want to move forward. Knowledge came with your addiction. Acknowledge you’re a spirit who picked this difficult challenge, but you’ve had enough and you wish to change your life. Your higher self will show you the way to get through your addiction. You should always have compassion for yourself and what you’ve gone through. You can change anything in your life.

Michael closes by saying The Council must release him and he asks how they can do this. The Council says they’re unable to release anyone from anything. You’re in charge of your life. We can only tell you to bring love into it for how brave you were to choose the difficulty of addiction. Now you can have another choice for your life, and that’s you releasing yourself.

Questions About Abortion

This post is inspired by comments and questions from a reader named Isobel who begins by thanking The Council for their post on Beth’s Story: A Spiritual Perspective and how she doesn’t believe the articles she’s read about women who abort a child and pay for this lifetime after lifetime.

The Council says in spirit, when there are lessons we wish to learn before we come into a particular lifetime, and we don’t quite learn these lessons in that lifetime, we can choose to repeat these lessons in additional lifetimes until we’re sure of the love that exists between all of the parties involved. There is no payment or karma involved that a woman must repeat her abortion lifetime after lifetime. If an abortion is experienced, it is by the loving choice of the spirit to see the experience differently until there is complete love and understanding of that process as a human being.

Isobel recently terminated a pregnancy and wants to know if it was the spirit of a girl she miscarried when she was much younger. The Council says the spirit of this child was known from other lifetimes, but it wasn’t the soul of the child she miscarried.

The Council says this abortion was planned in spirit to learn more about abortion and the process of agreement between the child, the father, herself, and anyone else involved, and then to quickly let go of these feelings and move forward. The Council asks Isobel to meditate on her desire in spirit to move forward and not linger any longer than necessary on the abortion.

Isobel asks if the spirit of the aborted child is likely to return to her in a future pregnancy. And The Council says there’s a possibility she’ll get pregnant again with this partner, but the soul will be a different soul that she knows from another lifetime; not the soul she aborted in this lifetime.

Listen to our entire session with The Council (below) to hear all their guidance for Isobel and the rest of us, and let us know what you think.

Abortion Will Not Have Negative Consequences

This post is inspired by a reader named Flower who asks The Council if the pregnancy she terminated 3 weeks before involved a separate soul or if it was part of her soul, like it was in our post describing Beth’s situation. Flower is also concerned whether her terminating this pregnancy had irreversible consequences on her etheric body and her karma, and she’s concerned it was an interference with nature.

The Council says there was a pre-birth planned agreement between Flower and this familiar soul from other past lives to experience this terminated pregnancy. They go on to say this abortion has absolutely not had the irreversible consequences Flower is concerned about, but they add that if she continues to focus on this fear rather than what she desires she is capable of attracting something unwanted into her life.

The Council says the etheric body Flower asks about is energy and light and doesn’t hold on to anything negative or dark, and there is no great consequence that would come from terminating this pregnancy. They advise Flower to remember who she is as a spiritual being. And they say everything she’s experienced has been pre-planned and her life is right on track.

Flower feels it would be hard to forgive herself if her concerns were true, and The Council says there is no forgiveness needed. She should give herself a pat on the back for fulfilling her pre-birth plan with this other soul. The purpose of this situation was to turn it around by bringing love into it.

The Council says as Flower learns to let go of negativity about terminating this pregnancy and is able to accept that she and the aborted soul pre-planned this with love, she can do a great service for many people who are also going through this experience. Flower’s love for herself and the aborted soul will touch many others.

The Council says they’ll send Flower love and light to help her move forward through her questioning and create the future she desires, and that their speaking to her was also pre-planned in spirit. She’ll also have the love of the soul that returned home to spirit when it was aborted to help her feel good about herself and get through this.

The Council says this aborted soul will come back into Flower’s life, maybe as the child of a friend. They have worked together before and there’s a fondness, recognition, and there will be much happiness that they will bring to each other when they’re reunited.

The Council ended this session by sending Flower and the rest of us light, and they advised us to know this light is within all of us. And it’s all of us together that will bring the light into this reality so there’s peace and love and the feeling of spirit in each other’s worlds.

Listen to the recording of the entire 9-minute session (below) with The Council to hear all their guidance and advice for Flower and the rest of us.

Why Do Young People Get Cancer?

This post answers a question from a long-time follower of our blog named Susan, who also has her own WordPress blog: Life Is A Journey…Not A Guided Tour. Susan says she understands that diseases like cancer can be created from a lifetime of fear, but she wonders how someone very young can get cancer. She’s heard it can be to balance karmic energies or help another soul with a life lesson, and she asks The Council for their thoughts.

The Council says there’s a lot of talk about having to pay back karma or balance karma, and they say this isn’t the way karma works (unless that’s what you believe). They say it’s more like in one lifetime you experience good health and you see people who have poor health. And in another lifetime you wonder what it would be like to experience poor health and grow from this.

The Council wants to make clear that poor health is a conscious spiritual choice, not a punishment. They add that you sometimes choose poor health to help others deal with this, sometimes you choose poor health to learn compassion, and sometimes you choose poor health to become more loving and understanding.

While Susan seems to assume it takes a long lifetime of experiencing fear in order to develop cancer, The Council says you choose your family based on the experiences you desire. A child is able to experience fear while still in its mother’s womb and develop cancer within a very short period. Or it can plan to experience cancer because they want to leave this physical reality early, or to help the souls around them experience this. Whatever the case, The Council says it is always planned before coming into this physical reality.

The whole purpose of going through a life and death situation is to have the experience, to allow the souls around them to have the experience, and in some manner bring love into the situation.

The Council talks about what it’s like for a soul to choose cancer to help the other souls in it’s life learn from this. And then closes by saying when someone is experiencing poor health, the best thing you can do is send them love and remember they are spirit in a physical body choosing to experience this. And if they wish to live through this illness, you are supportive of this. And if they wish to leave this physical reality at this time, you’ll be supportive of this also.

Listen to the entire 18-minute session below to hear all The Council’s guidance on why young people might choose to get seriously ill.

What You Believe is What You Create

How everything works in your existence;
how everything is created;
if you need a law
it is called the law of your beliefs.

If you believe in the law of attraction
it works for you.

If you believe in Murphy’s Law:
anything that can go wrong will go wrong–
it’s going to happen.

If you believe in the law of karma:
that in some lifetime you’ve been very good
and now you will be rewarded,
or you’ve been very bad
and you’ve got a debt to pay–
that is what is going to happen.

The only law we feel you will eventually get to a point of understanding
— and this is for the entire physical existence that you have all created —
you will eventually get to the law of beliefs.

What you believe
is what you will create.

And that is what we wanted to get across today.

There are no restricting laws.
There is no must-have, must-do, must-feel.

What you believe,
what you truly believe,
is what you will create.

So we are taking you
from kindergarten to college.

We are saying it is wonderful;
you can do these things,
read about them,
practice them,
but when you graduate
it will be to the law of beliefs.

Follow these other laws
if they help you,
if it is needed.

But in…we don’t want to say the end
because there is no end…
it will come to: what happens in your life,
to yourself, to the people around you, to your nation,
is what you believe.

You create everything
that you hear,
that you see,
that you experience.

What is Karma and How Does it Work?

This post is inspired by a question from Oksana who was confused about the subject of karma and wanted to know what The Council has to say about it.

Council Comments on the Meaning of Karma

“We like this question very much – the subject of karma… how one’s thinking creates their own reality. For many centuries this idea of karma has been elusive. In the beginning it was thought that the deeds you do in this life, you would pay for in the afterlife, such as heaven if you did many good deeds, and hell if you did many bad, hurtful, horrible things – you would pay for it in the afterlife.

“And then it evolved that if you were truly bad enough in many of your lifetimes, you not only had to wait until you went back to non-physical, but you would begin to pay for it in the physical body.

“So again, you would experience many challenging situations in your life. And many people who, not understanding where this came from, would begin to think: This is my karma. I know I’m not a bad person now. I must be paying for it from another lifetime.

“And we can only tell you that you create your own reality. And by believing there is a judgmental God that will cast these horrible situations onto you – we are here to tell you this is not how it works.”
