Ask The Council

What will you ask Spirit?

February 26, 2011 Daily Thought

Three things to remember to have a happy day:

  1. Know that you are spirit in a physical body.
  2. You have the ability to fulfill all your desires.
  3. Keep reaching for a better-feeling thought.

When you are depressed or fearful,
It is only because you have forgotten that
You are in control.

You are in control.
Anything else is an illusion
And a false belief.

You are a magnificent spirit
In a physical body,
Creating and exploring
Your world.

Want miracles in your life?

In spirit, you know you have the power to create all you desire.

In your physical experience it’s easy to forget this.

Now is the time for remembering — remembering who you really are.

You are the miracle in your life.”

As spirit, you experience only the vibration of love.

There’s no fear of being physical and experiencing something that doesn’t feel as good as love.

There’s only the joy of knowing you can change it.

Introducing Councilisms

Since we began publishing this blog in March 2010 the primary focus of our posts has been to answer questions that readers have asked The Council. The process of publishing posts to answer these questions has been relatively time consuming and it’s been difficult to publish posts as frequently as we’d like.

Recently Cynthia began receiving brief inspirational messages from The Council that we’d like to share with readers. This will give readers interested in Council-related material more frequent exposure to this material. After thinking about how to present these brief posts, we’ve decided to make a change to the way content is presented on our Home page. Previously the Home page displayed only two posts: a full version of our most recent post in the wider column on the left, and a full version of a Welcome post in the narrower column on the right.

As of this post, the wider left column on the Home page will contain multiple posts rather than a single post. These posts will appear one after the other with the most recent posts at the top of the page. And rather than publish longer complete posts on the Home page,  the longer posts will display only the first few paragraphs to give readers an idea what the post is about. At the end of  these introductory paragraphs you’ll find a link letting you know the preceding text is an introduction and that clicking the link will take you to the full version of the post.

It’s our expectation this change will let you read multiple brief posts (we thinking of them as Councilisms) without having to leave the Home page. When you come across a longer post on the Home page you can get to the full version with a single click. We hope you enjoy these new briefer messages from The Council and we invite you to post comments with your feedback. We like to hear from you.

Is There a Difference Between Our Spirit and Our Soul?

This post is inspired by a question from Oksana, who observes that in our sessions with The Council there are many references to spirit, but not many references to soul. Oksana asks if The Council can provide information specific to the soul. She’s particularly interested in The Council’s point of view on whether it’s possible to do things that can be detrimental to our soul.

Our Soul is an Aspect or Part of Our Spirit

“The spirit, who we truly are, is the larger part of us. The soul – which some people understand is interchangeable with the word spirit – the soul is the smaller part [of spirit] that chooses to experience this life, and it is what we would consider your personality in each different life. It has the knowledge of what you are looking to experience. And so the soul is part of the spirit and part of the human. Is that understood?”
–The Council

Before Oksana asked her question, Cynthia and I were among those who thought the words ‘soul’ and ‘spirit’ were more or less interchangeable. Prior to our session on this question, Cynthia was already getting information from The Council on this subject that started us thinking there might be more of a difference than we suspected. Their opening statement above makes it pretty clear they perceive the soul as a distinct aspect of spirit, not the same as spirit, but some of the other things they mentioned weren’t as obvious.

Law of Attraction for Skeptics – Consider the Possibility

During a recent session with The Council they seemed concerned many people question the validity of the law of attraction and don’t understand how to use it to their advantage. The information in this post is intended to help you experience the validity of the law of attraction even of you’re skeptical that it exists. It’s also intended to show you how the law of attraction can improve your life even if you don’t think it can.

Law of Attraction Makes it to Primetime

After the widely popular release of The Secret, a 2006 film and a 2007 book about the law of attraction that received a lot of attention in the media, and some bestselling books on this subject by Esther and Jerry Hicks, the law of attraction seems to have found a place in popular culture. Amazon.com recently listed over 1,000 books on the subject, including The Complete Idiot’s Guide to The Law of Attraction. But The Council says there’s a lot of misunderstanding about the law of attraction (LOA).

What About This Idea That We Create Whatever We Desire?

This post is in response to a question from Diana about the idea that everyone creates whatever they desire. She’s read a lot on this subject and asks about the practical application of this idea for creating a relationship she desires. Diana particularly wants to know how this idea works if she focuses all her attention on being with a specific person, but this person is focusing all their attention in opposition to that and doesn’t want to be with her. She asks the logical question: How is it possible for both people to get what they desire if their desires are exact opposites?

What We Desire, We Create First in a Non-Physical Reality

The Council’s answer to Diana’s question provided Cynthia and me with some new insight and understanding into the process of getting what we desire. This understanding begins with the idea that when we have a desire for something, whatever we desire is immediately created in a non-physical, vibrational reality. In Diana’s example, The Council says her desire to be with this person (since a name or gender aren’t specified we’ll refer to this person with the letter A) instantly creates in a non-physical reality the experience that she is with A in every way she desires.

Given a choice, most of us probably prefer to experience our desired creations in our physical reality, not just a vibrational one. So the question is: how do we get our desired creation from a non-physical reality into our physical reality.

How Can We Feel More Connected to Our Spirit?

This post is based on a session with The Council on Saturday, July 17, 2010 that addresses the following subjects:

  • Our connection to spirit is not broken when we’re born in a physical body.
  • Feeling our connection with spirit.
  • Using love and other good-feeling emotions to create what we desire.
  • The power of a smile.

True or False: Birth Causes a Separation from Spirit

Many who are interested in enlightenment and connecting with spirit think that when we leave our true home in spirit to be born into physical bodies that a separation from spirit occurs. The Council says when we think of spirit as being “up there,” “on the other side,” “in heaven,” “in another dimension,” or somewhere other than within us, we basically believe there is a separation from spirit.

A Broken Sacred Contract and How to Move On

This post is inspired by a question for The Council from Chris who asks how to move on when someone she feels she was meant to spend her life with broke a sacred contract by leaving. She also asks if it’s possible to find another partner under the circumstances.

Sacred Contracts

The Council observes that souls frequently agree to come into physical bodies during the same lifetime and help each other in their physical lives, but the Council isn’t inclined to understand these agreements as binding sacred contracts, as implied by Chris’s question. The Council believes the idea of an unchangeable binding sacred contract goes against one of the most important principles in all of creation: the free will that all humans, all souls, all spirit is given by our creator to choose, in any moment, from an infinite variety of possibilities. The Council’s idea of a sacred contract is the agreement each soul makes to unconditionally love the part of itself that comes to experience life in a physical body.

We in the Non-Physical are Always With You

This post contains a message from The Council on the love that spirit experiences coming into physical reality to help all here experience freedom. It’s a brief message, but one of the most loving, uplifting, and inspiring we’ve received. It’s also an important reminder we aren’t alone in our physical existence and that spirit is always with us.

The Council’s Message

“And so today we will talk about the spirit – how unafraid all spirits are to come forth into the physical. It is looked upon as a way to help physical and non-physical expand. There is a great feeling of love to come into this planet and help all that are here – and all that will be here on future trips – experience more freedom.

“With each incarnation we open the road for the ones that come behind us. And there is nothing but that intention to experience joy and love and be playful.  And we do not come here to experience hardships, as some have taught.

“And as we hear Cynthia say her favorite song, My Heart Will Go On Forever [from the movie Titanic], it is not the physical heart, but the love within it that indeed does go on forever.

“As you return to the non-physical, all the love that you have felt in this particular lifetime comes back with you. And there is such a vibration, there is such an expansion, and we all truly benefit from this. And the vibration continues to become stronger. And it reaches out so everything will feel this vibration, from the human, to the animal, to the plants, and the Earth itself. And every kindness that you do, and every good intention, every action helps us all to evolve.

“And so, whenever possible, reach for this feeling of love: in your meditations, in something you want to do, in a memory, or in just sitting and feeling the wellness and knowing that we in the non-physical are always with you. And as we watch you, we also know we are not alone – that you are always a part of us. And so this continues.

“We are all one. And so, as we like to think of you as our little brothers and sisters who have gone forth, we send you our love.”

A Note From Bob & Cynthia

We hope these words somehow help you experience the feelings of love, acceptance, appreciation, joy, well-being, and connectedness to spirit that we experienced during our meditation, and to some extend we continue to experience. It’s gradually beginning to sink into our awareness that the energy and vibration of these feelings is something spirit continually and unconditionally offers all who are experiencing a physical reality; and the willingness of any person to allow an experience of it, in any moment, will help anyone experience this energy, these vibrations, these feelings, more and more.

We welcome your comments and feedback on this post and our other posts on this blog. Feel free to let us know if you have a question you’d like to ask The Council. As their message states, there is a great feeling of love on spirit’s part to help all who are here experience more freedom.

Beginning to Channel a New Consciousness

This is a post about a new consciousness–a new voice–that seems interested in speaking through Cynthia lately, and how we’ve been experiencing this .

Almost a month ago after a session with The Council, Cynthia mentioned that during the session she was aware of a new consciousness in addition to the five spirit guides she experiences of as The Council. This new consciousness felt very much in harmony with The Council, but distinct from it. She described it as feeling powerful, clear, present and strong. It seemed to Cynthia that this consciousness had something to say, but when she tried to let it speak through her, no words came. She said it was as if she didn’t have the words to convey what this consciousness had to say.

I found this very interesting and took an opportunity during another session with The Council to ask about Cynthia’s experience. Here is some of what The Council had to say.

Ask And It Is Given

Striving for More Frequent Posts

The Council recently suggested that we take a break from working on a response to Chris’s question about a broken sacred contract in order to provide readers with more frequent posts. A couple weeks ago Cynthia had an experience that seems like a good candidate.

One of The Council’s Favorite Reminders

One of the points The Council makes most frequently and emphatically is how important it is that everyone know who they really are. While this advice isn’t new, (the ancient Greek aphorism “know thyself” is attributed to at least half a dozen sages including Socrates), The Council also reminds us that humans are non-physical, spiritual energy living in a physical body. Even this idea isn’t new, but it doesn’t seem well understood.

A Desire for the Feeling, Not Just Understanding the Words

Cynthia felt like she understood the words, but had a strong desire to experience the feeling of who she is as spirit in her body, not just an understanding of the words. Many times each day for a couple weeks she would say to herself, “I want to know who I really am. I want to see it and I want to feel it.” Cynthia wasn’t just thinking the thought and saying these words many times a day. She felt this powerful desire deep in her heart and felt like she was sending this feeling out to the universe, asking it to let her see and feel who she really is.

Believing in a Loving and Benevolent God When Life Sucks

This post is a response to a question for The Council from Chris, who wants to know how she can believe a loving and benevolent God exists when her life feels like evidence of the opposite. Chris asks how she can learn to believe and know she is heard and is important when she’s unable to perceive the presence of a loving and benevolent God in her life.

What Is God Like?

Among people who acknowledge the existence of God or a higher power (92% of Americans according to a university survey) beliefs tend to vary about what God is. According to this survey, beliefs in what God is like tend to fall into the following four types: Authoritarian (31%), Benevolent (25%), Critical (16%), and Distant (23%).

Where is God?

Whether we think of God in one or more (or none) of these four ways, we often think of God as being “out there” somewhere—like in heaven or throughout the Universe—rather than inside of us. But The Council advises all of us that it’s important to find God within ourselves—in our own consciousness. This can be a difficult concept to grasp if we’re accustomed to thinking of God as outside of us and we’re used to looking for evidence of God’s existence out in the world.

Feelings are Guidance from the Pure Spirit We Truly Are

Feeling a Need for Change, but Uncertain about a Career Move to the Arts

In this post The Council offers guidance on decision making. The post is a response to Sandy’s request for guidance about a career decision. He’s between jobs and wonders if he should stick to a career path he’s familiar with or try something completely outside of the box. He likes the idea of being involved in the Arts, but he tends to think of himself as a math and science person.

What Do I Do With My Life

The Council observes that many of us stress over making decisions, and this stress can make it difficult to achieve the outcomes we desire. They suggest when it comes to making decisions about the path to take in our life, the more relaxed we can be about the process, the more satisfying the outcome will be. For Sandy, The Council suggests making an effort to enjoy this time between jobs and to consider his desires.

“What brings you happiness? Which thought? Which imaginary situation brings you joy…a smile to your face? There are many things you can choose from.”

–The Council

What is the Meaning of Religion?

This post is a response to Oxana’s questions about:

  • The meaning of religion
  • —Why she has never been able to embrace religion, particularly Christianity, which she considers her religion
  • —Feeling like an outsider because of difficulties becoming part of a group

The Council’s Perspective on Religion

During our session on Oxana’s questions and comments, The Council made several points about religion, including these:

  • Religion is about people’s desire to: experience God, experience a connection with God, experience a connection with the source of all that is.
  • —The desire for a religious experience of unity and oneness with God is a powerful attractive force that draws people of similar religious beliefs together into communities of worship and faith.

Are You Able to Communicate with The Council?

This post is a response to a question from Robyn and a question from William who want to know whether their perception that they can communicate with The Council is accurate. William writes that while meditating recently, a group of beings who identified themselves as “The Council” started talking to him and he’d like to know if this is the same Council that speaks through Cynthia or if he’s just imagining things. Robyn wants to know if The Council agrees she can hear them even though she’s often afraid to listen.

We Are All Part of Collective Consciousness

The Council wants us to understand that we are all part of a collective consciousness. In William’s meditation he experienced The Council telling him that he is one with all, and all is one with him. The Council advises that spirit names are a convenient way to refer to themselves when communicating with those of us in physical bodies, but it’s not particularly helpful to think of The Council or other manifestations of spirit as separate from all that is and its collective consciousness.

Meditation for Spiritual and Emotional Inspiration

This post is inspired by a question for The Council from Gayle. Gayle asks how she can have a deeper understanding and a better sense of the information she often experiences from her ancestors.

Who are Our Ancestors?

When Cynthia and I asked The Council Gayle’s question, they were careful to point out that it’s limiting to think of our ancestors as only people in our family bloodline. From The Council’s point of view, all human beings are eternal ever-lasting soul energies that experience many lifetimes, in many bodies, in many families.

From this reincarnational point of view, The Council encourages us to think of our ancestors as all the souls we’ve come to know and love through experiences we’ve shared in all our lifetimes (as well as between lifetimes). The Council believes this is a less limiting way of thinking about ancestors – a way of thinking that can make it easier to access spiritual and emotional inspiration and guidance.

Meditation to Improve Spiritual and Emotional Inspiration

The Council advises that prayer and meditation will help us develop the intuitive abilities Gayle desires. The Council particularly recommends working with the Crown chakra at the top of the head for spiritual intuition and the Heart chakra in the center of the chest for emotional intuition. They emphasize that working with these two energy centers together is a particularly powerful way to improve our perception of the ever-present inspiration and guidance available from spirit.
